Examining hadronic resonance dynamics at energies available at the CERN Large Hadron Collider: Insights from EPOS4

Hadronic resonances, with lifetimes of a few $\mathrm{fm}/c$, are key tools for studying the hadronic phase in high-energy collisions. This work investigates resonance production in pp collisions at $\sqrt{s}=13.6~\mathrm{TeV}$ and Pb--Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\mathrm{NN}}}=5.36~\mathrm{TeV}$ using the EPOS4 model. By switching the Ultra-Relativistic Quantum Molecular Dynamics (UrQMD) hadronic afterburner ON or OFF, EPOS4 enables the study of final-state hadronic interactions. The production of strange and non-strange hadrons is also investigated using transverse momentum ($p_{\mathrm{T}}$) spectra and particle ratios to study rescattering, regeneration, baryon-to-meson production, and strangeness enhancement. Rescattering effects and strangeness enhancement dominate the low-$p_{\mathrm{T}}$ region, while enhanced baryon-to-meson yield ratios and strong mass-dependent radial flow are observed at intermediate $p_{\mathrm{T}}$ in central Pb--Pb collisions. The average $p_{\mathrm{T}}$ scaled by the reduced hadron mass deviates from a linear trend for short-lived resonances, indicating hadronic phase effects. The hadronic phase lifetime ($τ$), estimated from yield ratios of short-lived resonances to stable hadrons, increases with charged-particle multiplicity and system size, while remaining non-zero in high-multiplicity pp collisions. The production of non-strange (p), strange ($Λ$), and multi-strange ($Ξ$, $Ω$) baryons in central Pb--Pb collisions is governed by the competing effects of strangeness enhancement and baryon--antibaryon annihilation. These results provide valuable insights into the hadronic phase and particle production at LHC energies.

Λ(1520) resonance production with respect to transverse spherocity using EPOS3+UrQMD

Resonances are sensitive to the properties of the medium created in heavy ion collision. They also provide insight into the properties of the hadronic phase. Studying the dependence of the yield of resonances on transverse spherocity and multiplicity allows us to understand the resonance production mechanism with event topology and system size, respectively. The results reported pertains to Λ(1520) . The data from EPOS3 is used for the present analysis.

Energy Efficient Algorithms and Power Consumption Techniques in High Performance Computing

High Performance Computing is an internet based computing which makes computer infrastructure and services available to the user for research purpose. However, an important issue which needs to be resolved before High Performance Computing Cluster with large pool of servers gain widespread acceptance is the design of data centers with less energy consumption. It is only possible when servers produce less heat and consume less power. Systems reliability decreases with increase in temperature due to heat generation caused by large power consumption as computing in high temperature is more error-prone. Here in this paper our approach is to design and implement a high performance cluster for high-end research in the High Energy Physics stream. This involves the usage of fine grained power gating technique in microprocessors and energy efficient algorithms that reduce the overall running cost of the data center.

Hep Cluster First Step Towards Grid Computing

HEP Cluster is designed and implemented in Scientific Linux Cern 5.5 to grant High Energy Physics researchers one place where they can go to undertake a particular task or to provide a parallel processing architecture in which CPU resources are shared across a network and all machines function as one large supercomputer. It gives physicists a facility to access computers and data, transparently, without having to consider location, operating system, account administration, and other details. By using this facility researchers can process their jobs much faster than the stand alone desktop systems. Keywords: Cluster, Network, Storage, Parallel Computing & Gris.

Energy dependence of inclusive photon elliptic flow in heavy-ion collision models

We present a comparison of inclusive photon elliptic flow parameter (v_{2}) measured at RHIC and SPS high energy heavy-ion collision experiments to calculations done using the AMPT and UrQMD models. The new results discussed includes the comparison of the model calculations of photon v_{2} to corresponding measurements at the forward rapidities. We observe that the AMPT model which includes partonic interactions and quark coalescence as a mechanism of hadronization is in good agreement with the measurements even at forward rapidities (2.3 < η< 3.9) at RHIC as was previously observed for measurements at midrapidity. At the top SPS energy the contribution from partonic effects are smaller than that at RHIC energy, based on the comparison of the measured photon v_{2} with those from the AMPT default and UrQMD model calculations. We find that if the measurements in RHIC beam energy scan (BES) and LHC energies would require an energy dependent partonic cross section in the AMPT models, then the observed longitudinal scaling of v_{2} at top RHIC energies (19.6-200 GeV) will be violated. We also discuss the relation between the inclusive photon v_{2} and those of their parent π^{0}'s for the beam energies of 7.7 GeV to 2.76 TeV. The model results show that the transverse momentum (p_{\mathrm T}) integrated v_{2} of π^{0} is larger by about 44% relative to those of the inclusive photons. Finally we present the expectations of inclusive photon v_{2} for the RHIC beam energy scan (BES) program and LHC from the transport models, so that they can be compared to corresponding measurements using the data already collected at RHIC and LHC.
