Consistency of the dynamical high-scale type-I seesaw mechanism

We analyze the consistency of electroweak breaking within the simplest high-scale Standard Model type-I seesaw mechanism. We derive the full two-loop RGEs of the relevant parameters, including the quartic Higgs self-coupling of the Standard Model. For the simplest case of bare "right-handed" neutrino mass terms we find that, with large Yukawa couplings, the Higgs quartic self-coupling becomes negative much below the seesaw scale, so that the model may be inconsistent even as an effective theory. We show, however, that the "dynamical" type-I high-scale seesaw with spontaneous lepton number violation has better stability properties.

Signatures of $\tilde{R}_2$ class of Leptoquarks at the upcoming $ep$ colliders

We explore the signatures of the $\tilde{R}_2$ class of leptoquark (LQ) models at the proposed $e^- p$ and $e^+p$ colliders. We carry out an analysis for the proposed colliders LHeC and FCC-eh with center of mass (c.m.) energy 1.3 TeV and 3.46 TeV, respectively. For $\tilde{R}_2$ class of LQ models, there are a number of final states that can arise from LQ production and its subsequent decay. In this report we do a detailed cut-based analysis for the $l^{\pm}j$ final state. We also discuss the effect of polarized electron and positron beams on LQ production and in turn on $l^{\pm}j$ production. At LHeC, the final state $l^+j$ has very good discovery prospect. We find that, only 100 $\text{fb}^{-1}$ of data can probe LQ mass upto 1.2 TeV with $5σ$ significance, even with a generic set of cuts. On the contrary, at FCC-eh, one can probe LQ masses upto 2.2 TeV (for $e^-$ beam) and 3 TeV (for $e^+$ beam), at more than $5σ$ significance with luminosity $1000\,\text{fb}^{-1}$ and $500\,\text{fb}^{-1}$, respectively.

Displaced heavy neutrinos from $Z'$ decays at the LHC

We study the LHC sensitivity to probe a long-lived heavy neutrino $N$ in the context of $Z'$ models. We focus on displaced vertex signatures of $N$ when pair produced via a $Z'$, decaying to leptons and jets inside the inner trackers of the LHC experiments. We explore the LHC reach with current long-lived particle search strategies for either one or two displaced vertices in association with hadronic tracks or jets. We focus on two well-motivated models, namely, the minimal $U(1)_{B-L}$ scenario and its $U(1)_{X}$ extension. We find that searches for at least one displaced vertex can cover a significant portion of the parameter space, with light-heavy neutrino mixings as low as $|V_{lN}|^2\approx 10^{-17}$, and $l=e,μ$ accessible across GeV scale heavy neutrino masses.

Same-Sign Tetralepton Signature at Large Hadron Collider, and future $pp$ Collider

We analyze a novel signature of the type II seesaw model - same-sign tetra-lepton signal arising from the mixing of neutral Higgs bosons and their subsequent decays to singly and doubly charged Higgs bosons. For this, we consider wide ranges of the triplet vacuum expectation value (vev) and Yukawa couplings, that are consistent with the observed neutrino masses and mixing as well as the LHC search limits. We find that a doubly charged Higgs boson with mass around 250 GeV and triplet vev around $10^{-4}-10^{-2}$ GeV can give significantly large number of events through it decay to same-sign $W$ gauge bosons at High-Luminosity LHC with $3000 \text{fb}^{-1}$ of data. We also pursue the analysis for a future hadron collider with the c.m. energy of 100 TeV. Considering a heavy Higgs boson around 900 GeV and an intermediate region of the triplet vev, where both same-sign dilepton and gauge boson decays can occur, we identify a limited range of the parameters where the number of same-sign tetra-lepton events are as large as 1000.

Sensitivity of Lepton Number Violating Meson Decays in Different Experiments

We study the discovery prospect of different three body lepton number violating~(LNV) meson decays $M_{1}^{-}\to\ell_{1}^{-}\ell_{2}^{-}M_{2}^{+}$ in the framework of right handed~(RH) neutrino extended Standard Model~(SM). We consider a number of ongoing experiments, such as, NA62 and LHCb at CERN, Belle II at SuperKEK, as well as at the proposed future experiments, SHiP, MATHUSLA and FCC-ee. The RH Majorana neutrino $N$ mediating these meson decays provides a resonant enhancement of the rates, if the mass of $N$ lies in the range $(100\, \text{MeV}-6\, \text{GeV})$. We consider the effect of parent mesons velocity, as well as, the effect of finite detector size. Using the expected upper limits on the number of events for the LNV decay modes, $M_{1}^{-} \to\ell_1^{-}\ell_2^{-}π^{+}$~($M_{1}=B, B_c,D, D_{s}\,\text{and}\,K$), we analyze the sensitivity reach of the mixing angles $|V_{e N}|^{2}$, $|V_{μN}|^{2}$, $|V_{τN}|^{2}$, $|V_{e N}V_{μN}|$, $|V_{e N}V_{τN}|$ and $|V_{μN}V_{τN}|$ as a function of heavy neutrino mass $M_{N}$. We show that, inclusion of parent meson velocity can account to a large difference for active-sterile mixing, specially for $D$, $D_s$ meson decay at SHiP and $K$ meson decay at NA62. Taking into account the velocity of the $D_s$ meson, the future beam dump experiment SHiP can probe $|V_{eN}|^2 \sim 10^{-9}$. For RH neutrino mass in between 2 - 5 GeV, MATHUSLA can provide best sensitivity reach of active-sterile mixings.

Probing right handed neutrinos at the LHeC and lepton colliders using fat jet signatures

The inclusion of heavy neutral leptons (right-handed neutrinos) to the Standard Model (SM) particle content is one of the best motivated ways to account for the observed neutrino masses and flavor mixing. The modification of the charged and neutral currents from active-sterile mixing of the neutral leptons can provide novel signatures which can be tested at the future collider experiments. In this article, we explore the discovery prospect of a very heavy right handed neutrino to probe such extensions at the future collider experiments like Large Hadron electron Collider (LHeC) and liner collider. We consider the production of the heavy neutrino via the $t$ and $s$-channel processes and its subsequent decays into the semi-leptonic final states. We specifically focus on the scenario where the gauge boson produced from heavy neutrino decay is highly boosted, leading to a fat-jet. We study the bounds on the sterile neutrino properties from several past experiments and compare with our results.

Simulating Dirac Hamiltonian in Curved Space-time by Split-step Quantum Walk

Dirac particle represents a fundamental constituent of our nature. Simulation of Dirac particle dynamics by a controllable quantum system using quantum walks will allow us to investigate the non-classical nature of dynamics in its discrete form. In this work, starting from a modified version of one-spatial dimensional general inhomogeneous split-step discrete quantum walk we derive an effective Hamiltonian which mimics a single massive Dirac particle dynamics in curved $(1+1)$ space-time dimension coupled to $U(1)$ gauge potential---which is a forward step towards the simulation of the unification of electromagnetic and gravitational forces in lower dimension and at the single particle level. Implementation of this simulation scheme in simple qubit-system has been demonstrated. We show that the same Hamiltonian can represent $(2+1)$ space-time dimensional Dirac particle dynamics when one of the spatial momenta remains fixed. We also discuss how we can include $U(N)$ gauge potential in our scheme, in order to capture other fundamental force effects on the Dirac particle. The emergence of curvature in the two-particle split-step quantum walk has also been investigated while the particles are interacting through their entangled coin operations.

Probing Leptoquark and Heavy Neutrino at LHeC

We explore leptoquark production and decay for the $\tilde{R}_{2}$ class of models at the proposed $e^{-} p$ collider LHeC, planned to operate with 150 GeV electron and 7 TeV proton beams. In addition to the coupling of leptoquark with the lepton and jet, the model also has right handed neutrinos, coupled to the leptoquark. We analyse the collider signatures of a number of final states, that can originate from leptoquark decay into the standard model particles, as well as, the final states that originate from further decay of the heavy neutrinos, produced from leptoquark. We find that the final state $\ell^{-}+\text{n-jets}\,(1\leq\text{n} \leq 2)$ has the largest discovery prospect, more than $5σ$ with only few fb of data to probe a leptoquark of mass 1.1 TeV, even with a generic set of cuts. The significance falls sharply with increasing leptoquark mass. However, with 100\,$\rm{fb}^{-1}$ of data, a 5$σ$ discovery for leptoquarks of mass upto 1.4 TeV is still achieveable. Also for the same luminosity, final state $\bar{b}\ell^{+}τ^{-}+\text{n-jets}\,(\text{n}\geq 2)+\text{MET}$, resulting from the cascade decay of the leptoquark to an $\bar{t}$ and right handed neutrino, followed by further decays of $\bar{t}$ and the neutrino, is expected to yield a rather large number of events~($\approx 180$).

Constraining Right Handed Gauge Boson Mass from Lepton Number Violating Meson Decays in a Low Scale Left Right Model

We analyze the lepton number violating (LNV) meson decays that arise in a TeV scale Left Right Symmetry model. The right handed Majorana neutrino $N$ along with the right handed or Standard Model gauge bosons mediate the meson decays and provide a resonant enhancement of the rates if the mass of $N$ ($M_N$) lies in the range $\sim (100\, \rm{MeV}-5\, \rm{GeV})$. Using the expected upper limits on the number of events for the LNV decay modes $M_{1}^{+} \to\ell^{+}\ell^{+}π^{-}$~($M_{1}=B, D, D_{s}, K$), we derive constraints plausible on the mass of the right handed charged gauge boson by future searches at the ongoing NA62 and LHCb experiments at CERN, the upcoming Belle II at SuperKEK, as well as at the proposed future experiments, SHiP and FCC-ee. These bounds are complimentary to the limits from same-sign dilepton search at Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The very high intensity of Charmed mesons expected to be produced at SHiP will result in a far more stringent bound, $M_{W_R}>18.4$~TeV (corresponding to $M_N=1.46$~GeV), than the other existing bounds from collider and neutrinoless double beta decay searches.

Searching for New physics in Charm Radiative decays

We show that for a heavy vector-like quark model with a down type isosinglet, branching ratio for $c\rightarrow uγ$ decay is enhanced by more than $\mathcal{O}(10^2)$ as compared to that in the Standard model when QCD corrections to next-to-leading order are incorporated. In a left-right symmetric model (LRSM) along with a heavy vector-like fermion, enhancement of this order can be achieved at the bare (QCD uncorrected) level itself. We propose that a measurement of the photon polarization could be used to signal the presence of such new physics inspite of the large long distance effects. We find that there is a large region within the allowed parameter space of model with vector-like quark with additional left-right symmetry, where depending on the exact size of the long distance contribution, the photon polarization can be dominantly right-handed.

Neutrino oscillations in discrete-time quantum walk framework

Here we present neutrino oscillation in the frame-work of quantum walks. Starting from a one spatial dimensional discrete-time quantum walk we present a scheme of evolutions that will simulate neutrino oscillation. The set of quantum walk parameters which is required to reproduce the oscillation probability profile obtained in both, long range and short range neutrino experiment is explicitly presented. Our scheme to simulate three-generation neutrino oscillation from quantum walk evolution operators can be physically realized in any low energy experimental set-up with access to control a single six-level system, a multiparticle three-qubit or a qubit-qutrit system. We also present the entanglement between spins and position space, during neutrino propagation that will quantify the wave function delocalization around instantaneous average position of the neutrino. This work will contribute towards understanding neutrino oscillation in the framework of the quantum information perspective.

New physics in neutral $\textbf{D}\rightarrow\textbf{VV}$ modes

We show that it is possible to construct observables to test the existence of new physics in a model independent way for the $D^0\rightarrow VV$ modes using a time-dependent analysis of the neutral $D$ meson. We show that it is possible to identify whether the NP is due to decay, mixing or a combination of both. We also provide numerical estimates for the polarization amplitudes for the $D^0\rightarrow\overline{K^{*0}}ρ^0$ mode and show that our analysis is consistent with the present data.

Favoured $B_c$ Decay modes to search for a Majorana neutrino

Recently, the LHCb collaboration reported the observation of the decay mode $B_{c}^{-}\rightarrow\overline{B}_{s}^{0}π^{-}$ with the largest exclusive branching fraction amongst the known decay modes of all the $B$ mesons. Here we propose a search for a few lepton-number violating decay modes of $B_c$ which can only be induced by Majorana neutrinos. Distinguishing between Dirac and Majorana nature of neutrinos is an outstanding problem and hence, all possible searches for Majorana neutrinos need to be carried out. Since the lepton number violating modes are expected to be rare, when using meson decay modes for these searches one expects CKM favoured modes to be the preferred ones; $B_{c}\rightarrow B_{s}$ is one such transition. With a resonance enhancement of the Majorana neutrino mediating the $B_{c}^{-}\rightarrow\overline{B}_{s}^{0}\ell_{1}{-}\ell_{2}^{-}π^{+}$ modes one can hope to observe these rare modes, or, even their non-observation can be used to obtain constraints on the mixing angles of the heavy Majorana singlet with the light flavour neutrinos from upper limits of the branching fractions which are tighter or compatible with results from earlier studies. Also, we find that the relatively suppressed mode $B_{c}^{-}\rightarrow J/ψ\ell_{1}^{-}\ell_{2}^{-}π^{+}$ can provide even tighter constraints on $\mid V_{e N}\mid^2$, $\mid V_{μN}\mid^2$, $\mid V_{e N} V_{μN}\mid$, and in a larger range of the heavy neutrino mass. Further, exclusion regions for $\mid V_{e N} V_{τN}\mid$, $\mid V_{μN} V_{τN}\mid$ can also be obtained for masses larger than those accessible in tau decays. Upper limits on $\mathscr{B}\left(B_{c}^{-}\rightarrowπ^{+}\ell_{1}^{-}\ell_{2}^{-}\right)$ can also result in stringent exclusion curves for all the mixing elements, including that for $\mid V_{τN}\mid^2$ in a mass range where it is unconstrained thus far.
