Light Pseudoscalar and Axial Spectroscopy using AdS/QCD Modified Soft Wall Model

We study light pseudoscalar and axial states using a soft wall model that is modified by introducing two extra parameters: an UV-cutoff and an anomalous term in the conformal dimension of the fields involved such that meson fields with different parities are easily distinguishable. We find that 23 of these light mesonic states, including the scalars and vector states analyzed with one of our previous results, are fitted within the RMS error bounds given for this model, whose parameters are given by the quadratic dilaton profile, the UV locus $z_{0}$ and the anomalous term $Δ_{P}$. Our results show that Regge trajectories for pseudoscalar and axial mesons are linear in the radial quantum number $n$, as expected for these sort of regular $q\overline{q}$ mesons.

Deep Learning Based Speed Estimation for Constraining Strapdown Inertial Navigation on Smartphones

Strapdown inertial navigation systems are sensitive to the quality of the data provided by the accelerometer and gyroscope. Low-grade IMUs in handheld smart-devices pose a problem for inertial odometry on these devices. We propose a scheme for constraining the inertial odometry problem by complementing non-linear state estimation by a CNN-based deep-learning model for inferring the momentary speed based on a window of IMU samples. We show the feasibility of the model using a wide range of data from an iPhone, and present proof-of-concept results for how the model can be combined with an inertial navigation system for three-dimensional inertial navigation.

ADVIO: An authentic dataset for visual-inertial odometry

The lack of realistic and open benchmarking datasets for pedestrian visual-inertial odometry has made it hard to pinpoint differences in published methods. Existing datasets either lack a full six degree-of-freedom ground-truth or are limited to small spaces with optical tracking systems. We take advantage of advances in pure inertial navigation, and develop a set of versatile and challenging real-world computer vision benchmark sets for visual-inertial odometry. For this purpose, we have built a test rig equipped with an iPhone, a Google Pixel Android phone, and a Google Tango device. We provide a wide range of raw sensor data that is accessible on almost any modern-day smartphone together with a high-quality ground-truth track. We also compare resulting visual-inertial tracks from Google Tango, ARCore, and Apple ARKit with two recent methods published in academic forums. The data sets cover both indoor and outdoor cases, with stairs, escalators, elevators, office environments, a shopping mall, and metro station.

Free Energy of a Large-$N$ Pion Gas and Chiral Symmetry Restoration

We study thermal properties of a large-N massless pion gas using a low-energy QCD approach given by an $O(N +1)/O(N)$ Nonlinear Sigma Model. We build diagrammatically the associated finite free energy to $O(TM^{3})$ in the pion mass expansion through an effective vertex that considers all the contributions coming from closed diagrams. Subsequently, we calculate finite order parameters such as the quark condensate and its respective derivative, i.e., the scalar susceptibility, in the chiral limit, along with their associated critical exponents. These results are compared with our previous unitarized scattering analyses for the chiral transition universality class, thus showing a reasonable agreement both with lattice simulations and these resonant studies.

AdS/QCD Modified Soft Wall Model and Light Meson Spectra

We analyze here the mass spectrum of light vector and scalar mesons applying a novel approach where a modified soft wall model that includes a UV-cutoff at a finite $z$-position in the AdS space is used, thus introducing an extra energy scale. For this model, we found that the masses for the scalar and vector spectra are well fitted within $δ_{RMS}=7.64\%$ for these states, with non-linear trajectories given by two common parameters, the UV locus $z_{0}$ and the quadratic dilaton profile slope $κ$. We also conclude that in this model, the $f_{0}(500)$ scalar resonance cannot be fitted holographycally as a $q\overline{q}$ state since we cannot find a trajectory that include this pole. This result is in agreement with the most recent phenomenological and theoretical methods.

Light Meson Masses using AdS/QCD modified Soft Wall Model

We analyze light vector and scalar meson mass spectra using a novel approach where a modified soft wall model with a UV-cutoff is considered. Including this cutoff introduces an extra energy scale. For this model, we found that the masses for the scalar and vector spectra are well fitted within a very small RMS error for 14 of these states, with non-linear trajectories given by two common parameters, the UV locus $z_0$ and the quadratic dilaton profile slope $κ$. We concluded that in this model the $f_{0}(500)$ scalar resonance cannot be fitted holographycally as a $q\overline{q}$ state since we could not find a trajectory that included this pole. This result is in agreement with the most recent phenomenological and theoretical methods.

Chiral Symmetry Restoration for the large-$N$ pion gas

We analyze chiral restoration within the $O(N+1)/O(N)$ Non-Linear Sigma Model for large $N$ as an effective theory for low-energy QCD at finite temperature $T$. The free energy is constructed diagramatically to ${\cal O}(TM^3)$ in the pion mass expansion, which allows to derive the quark condensate and the scalar susceptibility in the chiral limit. At this order, we do not have to deal with renormalization, neither from divergences from mass tadpoles nor from those of higher order loop contributions. Our results for the critical behaviour are consistent with expectations from lattice analysis and with previous works where the susceptibility is saturated by the thermal $f_0(500)$ pole.
