Gluing Formula for the Pseudo-Determinant of Graph Laplacian and Applications to Counting of Spanning Trees

In this paper, we establish a gluing formula for the pseudo-determinant of the Laplacian on a simple finite graph. We achieve this by using the gluing formula for the determinant of massive Laplacian and the perturbation theory technique. In addition, we apply this gluing relation to derive a gluing formula for the number of spanning trees and rooted spanning forests on simple finite graphs.

Effect of Graph Gluing on Consensus in Networked Multi-Agent Systems

In this paper, the effects of graph gluing operations in networks of multi-agent systems and their impact on system performance are investigated. In many practical applications, multiple multi-agent subsystems must be interconnected through communication links to accomplish complex tasks, resulting in a larger communication network. Such interconnections modify the underlying graph topology and consequently affect the consensus behavior and convergence rate of the network. In particular, this paper examines both bridge gluing and interface gluing and analyzes how the number and structure of communication links between subsystems influence the Fiedler eigenvalue of the resulting graph. Since the Fiedler eigenvalue is directly related to the convergence rate of consensus dynamics, the proposed analysis establishes a clear relationship between interconnection strategies, algebraic connectivity, and system performance. The results provide theoretical insight into how different gluing mechanisms alter the spectral properties of the graph Laplacian and, in turn, the convergence characteristics of the networked multi-agent system. Simulation studies are presented to illustrate the theoretical findings and to validate the effectiveness of the proposed framework.

On enumerative problems for maps and quasimaps: freckles and scars

We address the question of counting maps between projective spaces such that images of cycles on the source intersect cycles on the target. In this paper we do it by embedding maps into quasimaps that form a projective space of their own. When a quasimap is not a map, it contains freckles (studied earlier) and/or scars, appearing when the complex dimension of the source is greater than one. We consider a lot of examples showing that freckle/scar calculus (using excess intersection theory) works. We also propose the "smooth conjecture" that may lead to computation of the number of maps by an integral over the space of quasimaps.

Combinatorial QFT on graphs: first quantization formalism

We study a combinatorial model of the quantum scalar field with polynomial potential on a graph. In the first quantization formalism, the value of a Feynman graph is given by a sum over maps from the Feynman graph to the spacetime graph (mapping edges to paths). This picture interacts naturally with Atiyah-Segal-like cutting-gluing of spacetime graphs. In particular, one has combinatorial counterparts of the known gluing formulae for Green's functions and (zeta-regularized) determinants of Laplacians.

Two-dimensional perturbative scalar QFT and Atiyah-Segal gluing

We study the perturbative quantization of 2-dimensional massive scalar field theory with polynomial (or power series) potential on manifolds with boundary. We prove that it fits into the functorial quantum field theory framework of Atiyah-Segal. In particular, we prove that the perturbative partition function defined in terms of integrals over configuration spaces of points on the surface satisfies an Atiyah-Segal type gluing formula. Tadpoles (short loops) behave nontrivially under gluing and play a crucial role in the result.

Ruelle zeta function from field theory

We propose a field-theoretic interpretation of Ruelle zeta function, and show how it can be seen as the partition function for $BF$ theory when an unusual gauge fixing condition on contact manifolds is imposed. This suggests an alternative rephrasing of a conjecture due to Fried on the equivalence between Ruelle zeta function and analytic torsion, in terms of homotopies of Lagrangian submanifolds.

Asymptotic Analysis Of Determinant Of Discrete Laplacian

In this paper, we study the relation between the partition function of the free scalar field theory on hypercubes with boundary conditions and asymptotics of discrete partition functions on a sequence of "lattices" which approximate the hypercube as the mesh approaches to zero. More precisely, we show that the logarithm of the zeta regularized determinant of Laplacian on the hypercube with Dirichlet boundary condition appears as the constant term in the asymptotic expansion of the log-determinant of the discrete Laplacian up to an explicitly computable constant. We also investigate similar problems for the massive Laplacian on tori.
