Signatures for right-handed neutrinos at the Large Hadron Collider

We explore possible signatures for right-handed neutrinos in TeV scale B-L extension of the Standard Model (SM) at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The studied four lepton signal has a tiny SM background. We find the signal experimentally accessible at LHC for the considered parameter regions.

Disentangling the Unparticles with polarized beams at e+e- colliders

Recently proposed idea of unparticles arising due to a scale invariant sector in the theory can give rise to effective operators with different Lorentz structures. We show that by using the different polarization options at the future linear e+e- colliders, the nature of these effective operators can be easily understood. The unique feature of a complex phase in the propagator of the unparticle can also be understood uniquely for the different spins by exploiting the initial beam polarizations at the International Linear Collider (ILC).

Single Production of Doubly Charged Higgsinos at linear e-e- colliders

Several extended supersymmetric models, motivated by either grand unification, or by neutrino mass generation, predict light doubly charged higgsinos. We study the production of a single doubly charged higgsino and its decay channels at the International Linear Collider (ILC) operating in the e-e- mode. We analyze the production cross section for e-e- --> tilde{Delta}^{--}_{L,R} chi^0_1 as a function of different kinematic variables, followed by the decay, through several channels, of the doubly charged higgsino into a final state of two leptons plus missing energy. We include the standard model background and discuss how kinematic cuts could be used effectively to limit this background. Single production of these exotics could provide a spectacular signal for a new underlying symmetry and for physics beyond the minimal supersymmetric standard model.

Effects of Universal Extra Dimensions on Higgs signals at LHC

A major focus at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) will be Higgs boson studies and it would be an interesting prospect to simultaneously probe for physics beyond the Standard Model (SM) in the Higgs signals. In this work we show as to what extent, the effects of Universal Extra Dimension (UED) can be isolated at the LHC through the Higgs signals. By doing a detailed study of the different uncertainties involved in the measurement of the rates for the process pp --> h --> gamma gamma we estimate the extent to which these uncertainties can mask the effects of the contributions coming from UED.

Identifying the contributions of Universal Extra Dimensions in the Higgs sector at linear e+ e- colliders

We study the dilepton-dijet signal in the dominant Higgs production channel at a linear e+ e- collider. We estimate the effects of Universal Extra Dimension (UED) by a simple analysis of the cross-sections. The heavy Kaluza-Klein excitations of the Standard Model fields in UED can significantly alter the decay properties of the Higgs boson to loop-driven final states. We show that by taking a simple ratio between cross-sections of two different final states this difference can be very easily highlighted.

Right-Chiral Sneutrino LSP in mSUGRA: Event characteristics of NLSP at the LHC

We study a supersymmetric scenario where the lighter tau-sneutrino is the lightest supersymmetric particle, while the lighter stau-state is the next lightest. Such a scenario can be motivated within the framework of minimal supergravity, with just the addition of a right-chiral neutrino superfield. Such a spectrum leads to rather unusual signals of supersymmetry, showing stable tracks of the stau in the muon chambers. We study the event characteristics of the long-lived staus at the LHC and demonstrate that the stau tracks can be distinguished from the muonic ones through proper kinematic cuts which also enable one to remove all standard model backgrounds.

Right-chiral sneutrinos and long-lived staus: event characteristics at the Large Hadron Collider

We investigate the signals of a supersymmetric scenario where the lighter tau-sneutrino is the lightest supersymmetric particle, while the lighter stau-state is the next lightest. We confirm that such a scenario can be motivated within the framework of minimal supergravity, with just the addition of a right-chiral neutrino superfield. Such a spectrum leads to rather unusual signals of supersymmetry, showing stable tracks of the stau in the muon chambers. We have studied two types of signals, namely, (a) two or more hard jets and two stau tracks, and (b) hard jets with two muons and two stau tracks. We demonstrate that the stau tracks can be distinguished from the muonic ones through proper kinematic cuts which also enable one to remove all standard model backgrounds.

Graviton Resonances in E+ E- -> MU+ MU- at Linear Colliders with Beamstrahlung and ISR Effects

Electromagnetic radiation emitted by the colliding beams is expected to play an important role at the next generation of high energy e^+ e^- linear collider(s). Focusing on the simplest process e+e- -> mu+ mu-, we show that radiative effects like initial state radiation (ISR) and beamstrahlung can lead to greatly-enhanced signals for resonant graviton modes of the Randall-Sundrum model.

Associated single photons and doubly charged scalar at linear e-e- colliders

Doubly charged scalars, predicted in many models having exotic Higgs representations, can in general have lepton-number violating (LFV) couplings. We show that by using an associated monoenergetic final state photon seen at a future linear e-e- collider, we can have a clear and distinct signature for a doubly-charged resonance. The strength of the Delta L=2 coupling can also be probed quite effectively as a function of the recoil mass of the doubly-charged scalar.

Identifying new physics contributions in the Higgs sector at linear e+e- colliders

Loop driven decay modes of the Higgs are sensitive to new physics contributions because of new particles in the loops. To highlight this we look at the dilepton-dijet signal in the dominant Higgs production channel at a linear e+e- collider. We show that by taking a simple ratio between cross-sections of two different final states such contributions can be very easily identified.

Distinguishing split supersymmetry in Higgs signals at the Large Hadron Collider

We examine the possibility of detecting signals of split supersymmetry in the loop-induced decay h --> gamma gamma of the Higgs boson at the Large Hadron Collider, where charginos, as surviving light fermions of the supersymmetric spectrum, can contribute in the loop. We perform a detailed study of uncertainties in various parameters involved in the analysis, and thus the net uncertainty in the standard model prediction of the rate. After a thorough scan of the parameter space, taking all constraints into account, we conclude that it will be very difficult to infer about split supersymmetry from Higgs signals alone.

Associated single photons as signals for a doubly charged scalar at linear e-e- colliders

Doubly charged scalars, predicted in many models having exotic Higgs representations, can in general have lepton-number violating (LFV) couplings. The basis of most searches for this charged scalar has been to look for its direct production and its subsequent decay to like-sign final state leptons. In this work we show that by using an associated monoenergetic final state photon seen at a future linear e-e- collider, we can have a clear and distinct signature for a doubly-charged resonance and also determine its mass rather precisely. We also estimate the strength of the Delta L=2 coupling which can be probed in this way at sqrt{s}=1 TeV, as a function of the recoil mass of the doubly-charged scalar.

Tagging Sneutrino Resonances at a Linear Collider with Associated Photons

Sneutrino resonances at a high energy linear e+e- collider may be one of the clearest signals of supersymmetry without R-parity, especially when the R-parity-violating coupling is too small to produce observable excesses in four-fermion processes. However, there is no guarantee that the sneutrino pole will lie anywhere near the machine energy. We show that associated photon production induces the necessary energy spread, and that the resonance then leaves a clear imprint in the photon spectrum. It follows that tagging of a hard mono-energetic photon for a variety of possible final states provides a realistic method of separating sneutrino resonance signals from the Standard Model backgrounds.

Anomalous Magnetic Moment of the Muon in a Composite Model

We make a fresh evaluation of contributions to (g-2) of the muon in the framework of a preonic model with coloured vectorlike leptons and heavy coloured Z bosons and discuss their implications in the light of the recent Brookhaven measurement. It is shown that the observed deviation can be explained within this framework with masses and couplings consistent with all constraints.

On Distinguishing Radions From Higgs Bosons

Radion couplings are almost identical to Higgs boson couplings, making it very difficult to distinguish the two states when the radion mass and vacuum expectation value are similar to those of the Higgs boson. The only real difference lies in the fact that the coupling of radions to off-shell fermions is proportional to the momentum rather than the mass of the fermion. This extra contribution gets cancelled in all tree-level processes and shows up only in loop-induced processes like Phi -> gamma gamma and Phi -> gg. We perform a careful calculation of the branching ratios and establish that they can prove crucial in clearly distinguishing a radion from a Higgs boson. This claim is made concrete by evaluating the exclusive cross-sections in a radiative process involving elementary scalars.

Single Photon Signals for Warped Quantum Gravity at a Linear e+-e- Collider

We study the `single photon' process e+- e- -> gamma nu nubar with contributions due to exchange of massive gravitons in the Randall- Sundrum model of low-scale quantum gravity. It is shown that for significant regions in the parameter space, this process unambiguously highlights the resonance structure of the graviton sector. Even in the non-resonant part of the parameter space, we show that comparison with the benchmark process e+- e- -> mu+- mu- can clearly distinguish signals for warped gravity from similar signals for large extra dimensions.
