Restrictions on shareability of classical correlations for random multipartite quantum states

Unlike quantum correlations, the shareability of classical correlations (CCs) between two-parties of a multipartite state is assumed to be free since there exist states for which CCs for each of the reduced states can simultaneously reach their algebraic maximum value. However, when one randomly picks out states from the state space, we find that the probability of obtaining those states possessing the algebraic maximum value is vanishingly small. We explore the possibility of nontrivial upper bound by Haar uniformly generating random multipartite states and computing the frequency distribution for various CC measures, conventional classical correlators, and two axiomatic measures of classical correlations, namely the classical part of quantum discord and local work of work-deficit. We find that the distributions are typically Gaussian-like and their standard deviations decrease with the increase in number of parties. It also reveals that among the multiqubit random states, most of the reduced density matrices possess a low amount of CCs which can also be confirmed by the mean of the distributions, thereby showing a kind of restrictions on the sharability of classical correlations for random states. Furthermore, we also notice that the maximal value for random states is much lower than the algebraic maxima obtained for a set of states, and the gap between the two increases further for states with a higher number of parties. We report that for a higher number of parties, the classical part of quantum discord and local work can follow monogamy-based upper bound on sharability while classical correlators have a different upper bound. The trends of sharability for classical correlation measures in random states clearly demarcate between the axiomatic definition of classical correlations and the conventional ones.

Localizing genuine multimode entanglement: Asymmetric gains via non-Gaussianity

Measurement-based quantum correlation mimics several characteristics of multipartite quantum correlations and at the same time, it reduces the parent system to a smaller subsystem. On the other hand, genuine multipartite entanglement measures can capture certain features of a multisite composite system that are inaccessible via bipartite quantum correlation quantifiers. We merge these two concepts by introducing localizable genuine multimode entanglement for continuous variable systems, both for Gaussian and non-Gaussian multimode parent states. We report a compact form of localizable generalized geometric measure for multimode Gaussian states when Gaussian measurements are performed in some of the modes. We show that non-Gaussian measurements can concentrate more genuine multimode entanglement compared to the Gaussian ones. For non-Gaussian states with non-Gaussian measurements, we find that although four-mode squeezed vacuum state has permutation symmetry with respect to the exchange of first and third modes as well as the second and the fourth modes, the symmetry can be broken by performing measurements in one of the modes in case of addition while for subtraction, such symmetry is preserved, thereby providing a method for distinguishing multimode photon-added and -subtracted states via localizations.

How efficient is transport of quantum cargo through multiple highways?

Quantum states can be efficiently transferred over a long distance if the entire quantum channel can be divided into several small blocks. We consider a scenario in which each block consists of two copies of a multiparty state -- one is used for distributing an arbitrary quantum state to multiple parties while the other channel is required to concentrate it back to a single party. Both in noiseless and local noisy scenarios, we find one-shot quantum capacities of these channels in terms of fidelity, when the initial shared states in each block are the generalized Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger and the generalized W states. We also consider a situation where optimal local measurements transform multipartite states to bipartite ones which can then be used as single-path channels for quantum state transmission in each segment. We show that in some parameter ranges, the former protocol provides strictly better fidelities than that of the latter, thereby establishing the importance of distributing and concentrating arbitrary quantum states via multipartite entangled states in long distance quantum communication, over the local measurement based protocol. Moreover, we show that in presence of bit flip or bit-phase flip noise, shared generalized Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger states possess an inherent noise detection and correction mechanism, leading to the same fidelity as in the noiseless case. We consider further noise models also, which do not enjoy the same mechanism. In addition to the fidelity based advantages, the multipath scheme is shown to be useful when one considers a situation in which the completion of the teleportation needs to be delayed. We also find the efficiencies of a quantum channel when a quantum state is transferred over long distances and the entire channel is divided into several small blocks.

Response of macroscopic and microscopic dynamical quantifiers to the quantum critical region

At finite temperatures, the quantum critical region (QCR) emerges as a consequence of the interplay between thermal and quantum fluctuations. We seek for suitable physical quantities, which during dynamics can give prominent response to QCR in the transverse field quantum $XY$ model. We report that the maximum energy absorbed, the nearest neighbor entanglement and the quantum mutual information of the time evolved state after a quench of the transverse magnetic field exhibits a faster fall off with temperature when the initial magnetic field is taken from within the QCR, compared to the choice of the initial point from different phases. We propose a class of dynamical quantifiers, originated from the response of these physical quantities and show that they can faithfully mimic the equilibrium physics, namely detection of the QCR at finite temperatures.

Rating the performance of noisy teleportation using fluctuations in fidelity

Quantum teleportation is one of the most pioneering features of the quantum world. Typically, the quality of a teleportation protocol is solely judged by its average fidelity. In this work, we analyze the performance of teleportation in terms of both fidelity and the deviation in fidelity. Specifically, we define a quantity called teleportability score, which incorporates contributions from both the fidelity and its deviation. It also takes into account the sensitivity one requires for a protocol in which the teleportation of a quantum state is required in one or many intermediate steps. We compute the teleportability score in the noiseless scenario and find that it increases monotonically with the entanglement content of the resource state. The result remains same even if we consider an n-chain repeater-like configuration. However, in the presence of noise, the teleportability score, can sometime display a nonmonotonic behaviour with respect to the entanglement content of the initially shared resource state. Specifically, under local bit-flip and bit-phase-flip noise, lesser entangled states can have higher teleportability score for certain choice of system parameters. In the presence of global depolarizing noise, for low entangled resource states and high sensitivity requirements, the noisy states can have better a teleportability score in comparison to the noiseless scenario.

Computable genuine multimode entanglement measure: Gaussian vs. non-Gaussian

Genuine multimode entanglement in continuous variable systems can be quantified by exploring the geometry of the state-space, namely via the generalized geometric measure (GGM) which is defined as the shortest distance of a given multimode state from a nongenunely multimode entangled state. For multimode Gaussian states, we derive a closed form expression of GGM in terms of the symplectic invariants of the reduced states. Following that prescription, the characteristics of GGM for typical three- and four-mode Gaussian states are investigated. In the non-Gaussian paradigm, we compute GGM for photon-added as well as -subtracted states having three- and four-modes and find that both addition and subtraction of photons lead to enhancement of the genuine multimode entanglement content of the state compared to its Gaussian counterpart. Our analysis reveals that when an initial three-mode vacuum state is evolved according to an interacting Hamiltonian, photon addition is more beneficial in increasing GGM compared to photon subtraction while the picture is opposite for four-mode case. Specifically, subtracting photons from four-mode squeezed vacuum states almost always results in higher multimode entanglement content than that of photon addition with both single as well as multimode and constrained as well as unconstrained operations. Furthermore, we observe a novel freezing feature of GGM during some specific cases of photon subtraction with respect to the number of photons subtracted.

Multipartite entanglement at dynamical quantum phase transitions with non-uniformly spaced criticalities

We report dynamical quantum phase transition portrait in the alternating field transverse XY spin chain with Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction by investigating singularities in the Loschmidt echo and the corresponding rate function after a sudden quench of system parameters. Unlike the Ising model, the analysis of Loschmidt echo yields non-uniformly spaced transition times in this model. Comparative study between the equilibrium and the dynamical quantum phase transitions in this case reveals that there are quenches where one occurs without the other, and the regimes where they co-exist. However, such transitions happen only when quenching is performed across at least a single gapless or critical line. Contrary to equilibrium phase transitions, bipartite entanglement measures do not turn out to be useful for the detection, while multipartite entanglement emerges as a good identifier of this transition when the quench is done from a disordered phase of this model.

Fidelity deviation in quantum teleportation with a two-qubit state

Quantum teleportation with an arbitrary two-qubit state can be appropriately characterized in terms of maximal fidelity and fidelity deviation. The former quantifies optimality of the process and is defined as the maximal average fidelity achievable within the standard protocol and local unitary strategies, whereas the latter, defined as the standard deviation of fidelity over all input states, is a measure of fidelity fluctuations. The maximal fidelity for a two-qubit state is known and is given by a simple formula that can be exactly computed, but no such formula is known for the fidelity deviation. In this paper, we derive an exact computable formula for the fidelity deviation in optimal quantum teleportation with an arbitrary state of two qubits. From this formula, we obtain the dispersion-free condition, also known as the universality condition: the condition that all input states are teleported equally well and provide a necessary and sufficient condition for a state to be both useful (maximal fidelity larger than the classical bound) and universal (zero fidelity deviation). We also show that for any given maximal fidelity, larger than the classical bound, there always exist dispersion-free or universal states and argue that such states are the most desirable ones within the set of useful states. We illustrate these results with well-known families of two-qubit states: pure entangled states, Bell-diagonal states, and subsets of $X$ states.

Optimal two-qubit states for quantum teleportation vis-à-vis state properties

Quantum teleportation with a two-qubit state can be suitably characterized in terms of maximal fidelity and fidelity deviation, where the former is the maximal value of the average fidelity achievable within the standard protocol and local unitary operations and the latter is the standard deviation of fidelity over all input states. In this paper, we consider the problem of characterizing two-qubit states that are optimal for quantum teleportation for a given value of some state property. The optimal states are defined as those states that, for a given value of the state property under consideration, achieve the largest maximal fidelity and also exhibit zero fidelity deviation. We provide a complete characterization of optimal states for a given linear entropy, maximum mean value of the Bell-CHSH observable, and concurrence, respectively. We find that for a given linear entropy or Bell-CHSH violation, the largest maximal fidelity states are optimal, but for a given concurrence, the optimal states form a strict subset of the largest maximal fidelity states.

Density Power Downweighting and Robust Inference: Some New Strategies

Preserving the robustness of the procedure has, at the present time, become almost a default requirement for statistical data analysis. Since efficiency at the model and robustness under misspecification of the model are often in conflict, it is important to choose such inference procedures which provide the best compromise between these two concepts. Some minimum Bregman divergence estimators and related tests of hypothesis seem to be able to do well in this respect, with the procedures based on the density power divergence providing the existing standard. In this paper we propose a new family of Bregman divergences which is a superfamily encompassing the density power divergence. This paper describes the inference procedures resulting from this new family of divergences, and makes a strong case for the utility of this divergence family in statistical inference.

Universality in Distribution of Monogamy Scores for Random Multiqubit Pure States

Monogamy of quantum correlations provides a way to study restrictions on their sharability in multiparty systems. We find the critical exponent of these measures, above which randomly generated multiparty pure states satisfy the usual monogamy relation, and show that the critical power decreases with the increase in the number of parties. For three-qubit pure states, we detect that W-class states are more prone to being nonmonogamous as compared to the GHZ-class states. We also observe a different criticality in monogamy power up to which random pure states remain nonmonogamous. We prove that the "average monogamy" score asymptotically approaches its maximal value on increasing the number of parties. Analyzing the monogamy scores of random three-, four-, five- and six-qubit pure states, we also report that almost all random pure six-qubit states possess maximal monogamy score, which we confirm by evaluating statistical quantities like mean, variance and skewness of the distributions. In particular, with the variation of number of qubits, means of the distributions of monogamy scores for random pure states approach to unity -- which is the algebraic maximum -- thereby conforming to the known results of random states having maximal multipartite entanglement in terms of geometric measures.

Phase boundaries in alternating field quantum XY model with Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction: Sustainable entanglement in dynamics

We report all phases and corresponding critical lines of the quantum anisotropic transverse XY model with Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya (DM) interaction along with uniform and alternating transverse magnetic fields (ATXY) by using appropriately chosen order parameters. We prove that when DM interaction is weaker than the anisotropy parameter, it has no effect at all on the zero-temperature states of the XY model with uniform transverse magnetic field which is not the case for the ATXY model. However, when DM interaction is stronger than the anisotropy parameter, we show appearance of a new gapless phase - a chiral phase - in the XY model with uniform as well as alternating field. We further report that first derivatives of nearest neighbor two-site entanglement with respect to magnetic fields can detect all the critical lines present in the system. We also observe that the factorization surface at zero-temperature present in this model without DM interaction becomes a volume on the introduction of the later. We find that DM interaction can generate bipartite entanglement sustainable at large times, leading to a proof of ergodic nature of bipartite entanglement in this system, and can induce a transition from non-monotonicity of entanglement with temperature to a monotonic one.

Response in violation of Bell inequality to imperfect photon addition and subtraction in noisy squeezed states of light

Violation of Bell inequality is a prominent detection method for quantum correlations present in composite quantum systems, both in finite and infinite dimensions. We investigate the consequence on the violation of local realism based on pseduospin operators when photons are added or subtracted in a single mode or in both the modes of the two-mode squeezed states of light in presence of noise. In the noiseless situation, we show that for addition (subtraction) of photons in a single mode, there is an overall enhancement in the maximal violation, although we observe an interplay between monotonicity and non-monotonicity in the violation of Bell inequality depending on the squeezing strength. Moreover, we report that for low squeezing or low number of photons added or subtracted, subtraction in both the modes can lead to higher violation of local realism than that in the case of addition. For any choice of parameters, such ordering is not seen if one compares their entanglement contents. In the event of a faulty twin-beam generator, we obtain a lower-than-expected squeezing in the state. In such a case, or in imperfect photon addition (subtraction), or under local noise, we find that the violation of local realism by the noise-affected two-mode squeezed states always decreases. Interestingly however, we notice that photon addition (subtraction) can in general help to conquer the ill-effects of noise by enhancing the violation of local realism or by transforming non-violating states to violating ones, thereby acting as an activating agent.

Deterministic Quantum Dense Coding Networks

We consider the scenario of deterministic classical information transmission between multiple senders and a single receiver, when they a priori share a multipartite quantum state -- an attempt towards building a deterministic dense coding network. Specifically, we prove that in the case of two or three senders and a single receiver, generalized Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (gGHZ) states are not beneficial for sending classical information deterministically beyond the classical limit, except when the shared state is the GHZ state itself. On the other hand, three- and four-qubit generalized W (gW) states with specific parameters as well as the four-qubit Dicke states can provide a quantum advantage of sending the information in deterministic dense coding. Interestingly however, numerical simulations in the three-qubit scenario reveal that the percentage of states from the GHZ-class that are deterministic dense codeable is higher than that of states from the W-class.

Activation of Nonmonogamous Multipartite Quantum States

The monogamy relation for quantum correlations is not satisfied by all measures for all multiparty quantum states. We prove that an arbitrary quantum state which is nonmonogamous for negativity will become monogamous if a finite number of copies of the same state is provided. We refer this as activation of nonmonogamous states. We also show that multiple copies of a state satisfy monogamy for negativity if it does so for a single copy. The results are true for all quantum states of an arbitrary number of parties. Moreover, we find that two different three-qubit pure states which individually violate monogamy relation for negativity, taken together can satisfy the three-party monogamy relation. This holds for almost all three-qubit pure states while it is true for all three-qubit pure states when a four-party monogamy relation is used to check for their activation. We finally connect monogamy of negativity with genuine multipartite entanglement.
