Scattering diagrams and Jeffrey-Kirwan residues

We show that the consistent completion of an initial scattering diagram in $M_{\mathbb{R}}$ (for a finite rank lattice $M$) can be expressed quite generally in terms of the Jeffrey-Kirwan residues of certain explicit meromorphic forms, by using the Maurer-Cartan asymptotic analysis developed by Chan-Leung-Ma and Leung-Ma-Young. A similar result holds for the associated theta functions.

Residual Intersections and Schubert Varieties

Inspired by the work of Ulrich and Huneke-Ulrich, we describe a pattern to show that the ideals of certain opposite embedded Schubert varieties defined by this pattern arise by taking residual intersections of two geometrically linked opposite Schubert varieties. This pattern is uniform for the ADE types. Some of the free resolutions of the Schubert varieties in question are important for the structure of finite free resolutions. Our proof is representation theoretical and uniform for our pattern, however it is possible to derive our results using case-by-case analysis and the aid of a computer.

Mapping free resolutions of length three II -- Module formats

Let $M$ be a perfect module of projective dimension 3 in a Gorenstein, local or graded ring $R$. We denote by $\FF$ the minimal free resolution of $M$. Using the generic ring associated to the format of $\FF$ we define higher structure maps, according to the theory developed by Weyman in "Generic free resolutions and root systems" (Annales de l'Institut Fourier} 68.3 (2018), pp. 1241--1296). We introduce a generalization of classical linkage for $R$-module using the Buchsbaum--Rim complex, and study the behaviour of structure maps under this Buchsbaum--Rim linkage. In particular, for certain formats we obtain criteria for these $R$-modules to lie in the Buchsbaum--Rim linkage class of a Buchsbaum--Rim complex of length 3.

Minuscule Schubert Varieties of Exceptional Type

We study exceptional minuscule Schubert varieties and provide the defining equations of the defining ideals of their intersection with the big open cell. We also provide the resolutions of these ideals and characterize some of them in terms of fundamental examples of ideals in the theory of Gorenstein ideals.

Orbital degeneracy loci and applications

Degeneracy loci of morphisms between vector bundles have been used in a wide variety of situations. We introduce a vast generalization of this notion, based on orbit closures of algebraic groups in their linear representations. A preferred class of our orbital degeneracy loci is characterized by a certain crepancy condition on the orbit closure, that allows to get some control on the canonical sheaf. This condition is fulfilled for Richardson nilpotent orbits, and also for partially decomposable skew-symmetric three-forms in six variables. In order to illustrate the efficiency and flexibility of our methods, we construct in both situations many Calabi--Yau manifolds of dimension three and four, as well as a few Fano varieties, including some new Fano fourfolds.

Stability data, irregular connections and tropical curves

We study a class of meromorphic connections $\nabla(Z)$ on $\mathbb{P}^1$, parametrised by the central charge $Z$ of a stability condition, with values in a Lie algebra of formal vector fields on a torus. Their definition is motivated by the work of Gaiotto, Moore and Neitzke on wall-crossing and three-dimensional field theories. Our main results concern two limits of the families $\nabla(Z)$ as we rescale the central charge $Z \mapsto RZ$. In the $R \to 0$ "conformal limit" we recover a version of the connections introduced by Bridgeland and Toledano Laredo (and so the Joyce holomorphic generating functions for enumerative invariants), although with a different construction yielding new explicit formulae. In the $R \to \infty$ "large complex structure" limit the connections $\nabla(Z)$ make contact with the Gross-Pandharipande-Siebert approach to wall-crossing based on tropical geometry. Their flat sections display tropical behaviour, and also encode certain tropical/relative Gromov-Witten invariants.

Block-Göttsche invariants from wall-crossing

We show how some of the refined tropical counts of Block and Göttsche emerge from the wall-crossing formalism. This leads naturally to a definition of a class of putative q-deformed Gromov-Witten invariants. We prove that this coincides with another natural q-deformation, provided by a result of Reineke and Weist in the context of quiver representations, when the latter is well defined.

An Introduction to Hodge Structures

We begin by introducing the concept of a Hodge structure and give some of its basic properties, including the Hodge and Lefschetz decompositions. We then define the period map, which relates families of Kahler manifolds to the families of Hodge structures defined on their cohomology, and discuss its properties. This will lead us to the more general definition of a variation of Hodge structure and the Gauss-Manin connection. We then review the basics about mixed Hodge structures with a view towards degenerations of Hodge structures; including the canonical extension of a vector bundle with connection, Schmid's limiting mixed Hodge structure and Steenbrink's work in the geometric setting. Finally, we give an outlook about Hodge theory in the Gross-Siebert program.

TBA type equations and tropical curves

We revisit the wall-crossing behaviour of solutions to the Thermodynamic Bethe Ansatz type equations arising in a class of three-dimensional field theories, expressed as sums of "instanton corrections". We explain how to attach to an instanton correction at a critical value a set of (combinatorial types of) tropical curves in R^2 of fixed degree, which determines its jump to leading order. We show that a weighted sum over all such curves is in fact a tropical count. This goes through to the q-deformed setting. Our construction can be regarded as a formal mirror symmetric statement in the framework proposed by Gaiotto, Moore and Neitzke.

The E^3/Z3 orbifold, mirror symmetry, and Hodge structures of Calabi-Yau type

Starting from the Kähler moduli space of the rigid orbifold Z=E^3/\mathbb{Z}_3 one would expect for the cohomology of the generalized mirror to be a Hodge structure of Calabi-Yau type (1,9,9,1). We show that such a structure arises in a natural way from rational Hodge structures on Λ^3 \mathbb{K}^6, \mathbb{K}=\mathbb{Q}[ω], where ωis a primitive third root of unity. We do not try to identify an underlying geometry, but we show how special geometry arises in our abstract construction. We also show how such Hodge structure can be recovered as a polarized substructure of a bigger Hodge structure given by the third cohomology group of a six-dimensional Abelian variety of Weil type.

A rigid Calabi--Yau 3-fold

The aim of this paper is to analyze some geometric properties of the rigid Calabi--Yau threefold $\mathcal{Z}$ obtained by a quotient of $E^3$, where $E$ is a specific elliptic curve. We describe the cohomology of $\mathcal{Z}$ and give a simple formula for the trilinear form on $Pic(\mathcal{Z})$. We describe some projective models of $\mathcal{Z}$ and relate these to its generalized mirror. A smoothing of a singular model is a Calabi--Yau threefold with small Hodge numbers which was not known before.
