A resistive MHD module in the GPU-accelerated GRMHD code GRaM-X

Relativistic macroscopic plasma dynamics can be described by general-relativistic magnetohydrodynamics. In many high-energy astrophysical settings, such as the interior dynamics of magnetized stars, the ideal GRMHD approximation, in which we assume infinite conductivity, provides an excellent description. However, ideal GRMHD neglects resistive effects that are essential for processes such as magnetic reconnection, dissipation, and magnetospheric dynamics. Incorporating resistivity into astrophysical plasma models accounts for the fact that plasmas in such environments are not perfect conductors. We present a resistive version of the GPU-accelerated GRMHD code GRaM-X, which evolves the full resistive GRMHD equations using the Z4c formalism for Einstein's equations. We implement a second-order implicit-explicit Runge-Kutta scheme to handle stiff source terms, obtain the primitive quantities from the conserved quantities using a one-dimensional recovery method, and employ the HLLE Riemann solver in combination with TVD and WENO reconstruction schemes. We validate the module using a range of standard tests, including 1D shocktubes, current sheets, Alfv\'{e}n waves, 2D cylindrical explosions, and 3D TOV stars. The results of these tests demonstrate accurate recovery of the ideal MHD limit, correct resistive behavior, and stable evolution in dynamical spacetimes. Leveraging the GPU-accelerated resistive version of GRaM-X enables efficient large-scale simulations, paving the way for realistic studies of binary mergers, accretion flows, and relativistic jets within the framework of multi-messenger astrophysics.

Reduced-order autoregressive dynamics of a complex financial system: a PCA-based approach

This study analyzes the dynamic interactions among the NASDAQ index, crude oil, gold, and the US dollar using a reduced-order modeling approach. Time-delay embedding and principal component analysis are employed to encode high-dimensional financial dynamics, followed by linear regression in the reduced space. Correlation and lagged regression analyses reveal heterogeneous cross-asset dependencies. Model performance, evaluated using the coefficient of determination ($R^2$), demonstrates that a limited number of principal components is sufficient to capture the dominant dynamics of each asset, with varying complexity across markets.

Hawking Temperature for 4D-Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet Black Holes from uncertainty principle

Inspired by string theory, Heisenberg's uncertainty principle can be generalized to include the photon-electron gravitational interaction, which leads to the Generalized Uncertainty Principle (GUP). Although GUP considers gravitational uncertainty at the minimum fundamental length scale in physics, it does not consider the effects of spacetime curvature on quantum mechanical uncertainty relations. The Extended Uncertainty Principle (EUP) is a generalization of Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle that, unlike the GUP, applies to large length scales. GEUP is also a linear combination of EUP and GUP that creates minimal uncertainty on large length scales. The Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet theory (EGB) can be considered as one of the most promising candidates for modified gravity. In this paper, by using GUP, EUP, and GEUP, we intend to obtain the Hawking temperature of a four-dimensional EGB black hole in the asymptotically flat and (Anti)-de Sitter spacetime. We show that coupling constant, cosmological constant, mass, and radius significantly affect Hawking temperature and decrease or increase Hawking temperature depending on the chosen horizons.
