Point evaluation for polynomials on the circle

We study the constant $\mathscr{C}_{d,p}$ defined as the smallest constant $C$ such that $\|P\|_\infty^p \leq C\|P\|_p^p$ holds for every polynomial $P$ of degree $d$, where we consider the $L^p$ norm on the unit circle. We conjecture that $\mathscr{C}_{d,p} \leq dp/2+1$ for all $p \geq 2$ and all degrees $d$. We show that the conjecture holds for all $p \geq 2$ when $d \leq 4$ and for all $d$ when $p \geq 6.8$.

An optimization problem and point-evaluation in Paley-Wiener spaces

We study the constant $\mathscr{C}_p$ defined as the smallest constant $C$ such that $|f(0)|^p \leq C\|f\|_p^p$ holds for every function $f$ in the Paley-Wiener space $PW^p$. Brevig, Chirre, Ortega-Cerdà, and Seip have recently shown that $\mathscr{C}_p 2$. We improve this bound for $2<p \leq 5$ by solving an optimization problem.

F. Wiener's trick and an extremal problem for $H^p$

For $0<p \leq \infty$, let $H^p$ denote the classical Hardy space of the unit disc. We consider the extremal problem of maximizing the modulus of the $k$th Taylor coefficient of a function $f \in H^p$ which satisfies $\|f\|_{H^p}\leq1$ and $f(0)=t$ for some $0 \leq t \leq 1$. In particular, we provide a complete solution to this problem for $k=1$ and $0<p<1$. We also study F. Wiener's trick, which plays a crucial role in various coefficient-related extremal problems for Hardy spaces.
