Curves in projective space and RSK

The geometric Tevelev degrees of projective space enumerate general, pointed algebraic curves interpolating through the maximal possible number of points. Previous work expresses these invariants in terms of Schubert calculus. Extending ideas of Gillespie--Reimer-Berg, we use the RSK correspondence to give a positive interpretation of these counts in terms of the combinatorics of words.

Multitriangulations on the half-cylinder

We prove that the simplicial complex $\Delta _{\mathcal{C}_n,2}$ is pure and a weak pseudomanifold of dimension $2(n-1)$, where $\Delta _{\mathcal{C}_n,2}$ is the simplicial complex associated with $2$-triangulations on the half-cylinder with $n$ marked points. This result generalizes the work of Vincent Pilaud and Francisco Santos for polygons and resolves a conjecture of Mathias Lepoutre and Vincent Pilaud for $k=2$. To achieve this, we show that $2$-triangulations on the half-cylinder decompose as complexes of star polygons, and that $2$-triangulations on the half-cylinder are in bijection with $2$-triangulations on the $4n$-gon invariant under rotation by $\pi/2$ radians. Building on work by Vincent Pilaud and Christian Stump, we also introduce chevron pipe dreams, a new combinatorial model that more naturally captures the symmetries of $k$-triangulations.

Classifying prime graphs of finite groups -- a methodical approach

For a finite group $G$, the vertices of the prime graph $\Gamma(G)$ are the primes that divide $|G|$, and two vertices $p$ and $q$ are connected by an edge if and only if there is an element of order $pq$ in $G$. Prime graphs of solvable groups as well as groups whose noncyclic composition factors have order divisible by exactly three distinct primes have been classified in graph-theoretic terms. In this paper, we begin to develop a general theory on the existence of edges in the prime graph of an arbitrary $T$-solvable group, that is, a group whose composition factors are cyclic or isomorphic to a fixed nonabelian simple group $T$. We then apply these results to classify the prime graphs of $T$-solvable groups for, in a suitable sense, most $T$ such that $|T|$ has exactly four prime divisors. We find that these groups almost always have a 3-colorable prime graph complement containing few possible triangles.
