Entanglement witness operator for quantum teleportation

The ability of entangled states to act as resource for teleportation is linked to a property of the fully entangled fraction. We show that the set of states with their fully entangled fraction bounded by a threshold value required for performing teleportation is both convex and compact. This feature enables for the existence of hermitian witness operators the measurement of which could distinguish unknown states useful for performing teleportation. We present an example of such a witness operator illustrating it for different classes of states.

Common entanglement witnesses and their characteristics

We investigate the issue of finding common entanglement witness for certain class of states and extend this study to the case of Schmidt number witnesses. We also introduce the notion of common decomposable and non-decomposable witness operators which is specially useful for constructing a common witness where one of the entangled states is with a positive partial transpose. Our approach is illustrated with the help of suitable examples of qutrit systems.

Quantum secret sharing with two qubit bipartite mixed states

Quantum secret sharing is one of the most important and interesting quantum information processing task. In quantum secret sharing, information is split among several parties such that only one of them is able to recover the qubit exactly provided all the other parties agree to cooperate. To achieve this task, all the parties need to share entangled state. As far as my knowledge, all the previous quantum secret sharing protocol used either pure tripartite or pure bipartite entangled state. In this work we use for the first time bipartite two qubit mixed state (formed due to noisy environment) in quantum secret sharing scheme. We further show that one party cannot extract the information without the collaboration of other party. We also study the property of the shared mixed state used in the quantum secret sharing scheme.

Entanglement and Teleportation in Bipartite System

We present a mathematical formulation of old teleportation protocol (original teleportation protocol introduced by Bennett et.al.) for mixed states and study in detail the role of mixedness of the two qubit quantum channel in a teleportation protocol. We show that maximally entangled mixed state described by the density matrix of rank-4 will be useful as a two qubit teleportation channel to teleport a single qubit mixed state when the teleportation channel parameter p1 greater than 0.5. Also we discuss the case when p1 less than equal to 0.5.

Witness for edge states and its characteristics

Edge states lying at the edge of PPT entangled states have a very intriguing existence and their detection is equally interesting. We present here a new witness for detection of edge states. We then compare between our proposed witness operator and the witness operator proposed in [Physical Review A, 62, 052310 (2000)] in terms of the efficiency in the detection of PPT entangled states. In this regard we show that this operator is finer than the Lewenstein et.al. operator in some restriction. We also discuss about its experimental realization via Gell-Mann matrices.

Entanglement detection: Linear entropy versus Bell-CHSH inequality

The relation between the violation of the Bell-CHSH inequalities and entanglement properties of quantum states is not clear so one may consider the mixedness of the system to understand the entanglement properties better than the Bell-CHSH inequality. In this respect, we prove that if the mixedness of the state measured by the linear entropy is less than 2/3 but strictly greater than zero then the two qubit states are entangled. But if the linear entropy is greater or equal to 2/3 then the state may or may not be entangled. Further we show that our entanglement criterion detects larger set of entangled state than Bell-CHSH inequality and Santos's entropic criterion [Phys. Rev. A 69, 022305 (2004)]. Lastly we illustrate our result by citing few examples.

Quantum Cloning and Deletion in Quantum Information Theory

Quantum mechanics put restriction on performing some task which we can do classically. One such restriction is that we cannot copy an arbitrary quantum state. This is known as No-cloning theorem. Although quantum mechanics forbid us to construct a perfect cloner, there is no restriction to construct an imperfect cloner. Therefore, we have constructed and studied a special kind of quantum cloning machine named as Hybrid quantum cloning machine which is nothing but a different combination of pre-existing quantum cloning machines. We showed that this hybrid quantum cloning machine sometime gives better quality copy than the pre-existing quantum cloners. Quantum entanglement is a very astonishing property in a multi-partite system and it is a very useful ingredient of quantum information theory. Therefore broadcasting (cloning) of entanglement is a very important subject to study. In this regard we have studied the broadcasting of entanglement using state dependent quantum cloning machine. Further, we have investigated the problem of secretly broadcasting of three-qubit entangled state between two distant partners. Linearity of quantum mechanics put another restriction on deletion of an arbitrary quantum state i.e. an arbitrary quantum state against a copy cannot be perfectly deleted. Like cloning machine one can construct an approximate deletion machine also. Therefore, we have constructed an universal deletion machine in the sense that the fidelity of deletion does not depend on the input state and showed that the fidelity of deletion is 3/4 . Further we showed that the fidelity of deletion depends on the blank state at the output and it can be improved from the value 3/4 for certain blank state. Moreover, we have studied the case where two cloned copies are given at the input of the deletion machine.

A study of the efficiency of the class of $W$-states as a quantum channel

Recently, a new class of $W$-states has been defined by Agarwal and Pati \cite{agarwal} and it has been shown that they can be used as a quantum channel for teleportation and superdense coding. In this work, we identify those three-qubit states from the set of the new class of $W$-states which are most efficient or suitable for quantum teleportation. We show that with some probability $|W_1>=(1/2)(|100>+|010>+\sqrt{2}|001>)$ is best suited for teleportation channel in the sense that it does not depend on the input state.

Teleportation using continuous variable quantum cloning machine

We show that an unknown quantum state in phase space can be teleported via three-mode entanglement generated by continuous variable quantum cloning machine (transformation). Further, proceeding with our teleportation protocol we are able to improve the fidelity of teleportation obtained by Loock et.al. [Phys.Rev.Lett. 84, 3482(2000)]. Also we study here the entanglement between the two output copies from cloning machine.

Broadcasting of continuous variable entanglement

We present a scheme for broadcasting of continuous variable entanglement. We show how an initial two-mode squeezed state of the electromagnetic field shared by two distant parties can be broadcasted into two nonlocal bipartite entangled states. Our protocol uses a local linear amplifier and a beam splitter at each end. We compute the fidelity of the output entangled states and show that the broadcasting can be implemented for a variety of input squeezed states and amplifier phases.

Hybrid Quantum Cloning Machine

In this work, we introduce a special kind of quantum cloning machine called Hybrid quantum cloning machine. The introduced Hybrid quantum cloning machine or transformation is nothing but a combination of pre-existing quantum cloning transformations. In this sense it creates its own identity in the field of quantum cloners. Hybrid quantum cloning machine can be of two types: (i) State dependent and (ii) State independent or Universal. We study here the above two types of Hybrid quantum cloning machines. Later we will show that the state dependent hybrid quantum-cloning machine can be applied on only four input states. We will also find in this paper another asymmetric universal quantum cloning machine constructed from the combination of optimal universal B-H quantum cloning machine and universal anti-cloning machine. The fidelities of the two outputs are different and their values lie in the neighborhood of ${5/6} $

Probabilistic exact deletion and probabilistic no-signalling

In this work we show that one cannot use non-local resources for probabilistic signalling even if one can delete a quantum state with the help of probabilistic quantum deletion machine. Here we find that probabilistic quantum deletion machine is not going to help us in identifying two statistical mixture at remote location. Also we derive the bound on deletion probability from no-signalling condition.

Broadcasting of three qubit entanglement via local copying and entanglement swapping

In this work,We investigate the problem of secretly broadcasting of three-qubit entangled state between two distant partners. The interesting feature of this problem is that starting from two particle entangled state shared between two distant partners we find that the action of local cloner on the qubits and the measurement on the machine state vector generates three-qubit entanglement between them. The broadcasting of entanglement is made secret by sending the measurement result secretly using cryptographic scheme based on orthogonal states. Further we show that this idea can be extended to generate three particle entangled state between three distant partners.

Broadcasting of Inseparability

Suppose we are given an entangled pair and then one can ask how well we can produce two entangled pairs starting from a given entangled pair using only local operations. To give response of the above asked question, we study broadcasting of entanglement using state dependent quantum cloning machine as a local copier. We show that the length of the interval for probability-amplitude-squared for broadcasting of entanglement using state dependent cloner can be made larger than the length of the interval for probability-amplitude-squared for broadcasting entanglement using state independent cloner. Further we show that there exists local state dependent cloner which gives better quality copy (in terms of average fidelity) of an entangled pair than the local universal cloner.

Stronger no-cloning, no-signalling and conservation of quantum information

It is known that the stronger no-cloning theorem and the no-deleting theorem taken together provide the permanence property of quantum information. Also, it is known that the violation of the no-deletion theorem would imply signalling. Here, we show that the violation of the stronger no-cloning theorem could lead to signalling. Furthermore, we prove the stronger no-cloning theorem from the conservation of quantum information. These observations imply that the permanence property of quantum information is connected to the no-signalling and the conservation of quantum information.

Improving the Fidelity of deletion

In this work we study the quantum deletion machine with two transformers and show that the deletion machine with single transformer performs better than the deletion machine with more than two transformers. We also observe that the fidelity of deletion depends on the blank state used in the deleter and so for different blank state the fidelity is different. Further, we study the Pati-Braunsein deleter with transformer.

A Generalized Deletion Machine

In this work we prescribe a more generalized quantum-deleting machine (input state dependent). The fidelity of deletion is dependent on some machine parameters such that on alteration of machine parameters we get back to standard deleting machines. We also carried out a various comparative study of various kinds of quantum deleting machines. We also plotted graphs, making a comparative study of fidelity of deletion of the deletion machines, obtained as particular cases on changing the machine parameters of our machine.
