Surviving correlations across a horizon: reflected entropy for bosonic fields in non-inertial frames and black hole spacetimes

We study the reflected entropy and the Markov gap for modes of a free bosonic field shared by inertial observers (Alice, Charlie) and a uniformly accelerated one (Bob), for a bipartite Bell state and the tripartite Werner (W) and Greenberger--Horne--Zeilinger (GHZ) states. The bosonic Bogoliubov transformation spans an infinite-dimensional Fock space with an unbounded squeezing parameter unlike the fermionic case. By identifying a conserved charge, we block-diagonalize the reduced density matrices into exact two-dimensional sectors, yielding closed or semi-analytic forms for all three states. Although bosonic entanglement is known to vanish asymptotically, the Alice--Bob reflected entropy instead saturates at a nonzero floor, retaining the surviving classical correlation, and converges to the value Alice shares with Bob's causally disconnected partner. Crucially, only the inter-wedge reflected entropy diverges, linearly in the squeezing parameter---the sharp distinction from the fermionic case, where it stays bounded---while the Markov gaps saturate. The construction transfers verbatim to a Schwarzschild black hole, where the saturation values become mass-independent constants.

Post-Newtonian Effective Field Theory Approach to Entanglement Harvesting, Quantum Discord and Bell's Nonlocality Bound Near a Black Hole

Black holes, as characterized by the Hawking effect and Bekenstein-Hawking entropy, can be treated as a compact object carrying nontrivial quantum information obscured behind the event horizon. Thus, the black hole may convey and retract its quantum information to the nearby quantum probes via the surrounding mediator fields. In this paper, we investigate the effects of a quantum black hole on the reduced states of a pair of static qubit-type Unruh-DeWitt (UDW) detectors acting as a probe, using three complementary quantum information measures: concurrence characterizing entanglement harvesting, quantum discord, and Bell's nonlocality bound. This sheds light on the nature of the quantum state of the black holes. By treating the black hole as a tidally deformable thermal body under the quantum fluctuation of the mediator fields as observed in \cite{Goldberger:2019sya, goldberger2020virtual, biggs2024comparing}, we employ a post-Newtonian effective field theory (PN-EFT) to derive the reduced states of the UDW probes analytically. Based on this, we can easily obtain all three quantum information measures without encountering the complicated Matsubara sum of infinite thermal poles, as in the conventional approach based on quantum fields in curved spacetime. By tuning the relative strengths in the action of PN-EFT, we can extract the effects of the black hole on the entanglement, quantum correlation, and nonlocality bound of the UDW probe systems. Our PN-EFT approach can be extended to include the backreaction on the black holes in future studies by taking the higher-order PN corrections into account.

Can Newtonian Gravity Produce Quantum Entanglement?

We investigate whether Newtonian gravity can generate quantum entanglement between mesoscopic quantum bodies modeled as superposed mass quadrupoles using three complementary approaches: mini-superspace, semiclassical gravity, and stochastic gravity. We systematically analyze gravitationally induced entanglement (GIE) mechanisms and the conditions under which they can arise. Our results support the GIE hypothesis by showing that the mini-superspace framework, which quantizes the parity of the gravitational tidal field, can entangle spatially separate quantum bodies. In contrast, the semiclassical and stochastic gravity models, in which the tidal gravitational field sourced by the quantum bodies remains classical, fail to entangle the final state. These findings clarify recent claims that classical gravity might induce entanglement, and reveal how perturbative treatments can lead to misleading conclusions.

Entanglement Harvesting and Quantum Discord of Alpha Vacua in de Sitter Space

The CPT invariant vacuum states of a scalar field in de Sitter space, called $\alpha$-vacua, are not unique. We explore the $\alpha$-vacua from the quantum information perspective by a pair of static Unruh-DeWitt (UDW) detectors coupled to a scalar field with either monopole or dipole coupling, which are in time-like zero separation or space-like antipodal separation. The analytical form of the reduced final state of the UDW detector is derived. We study the entanglement harvesting and quantum discord of the reduced state, which characterize the quantum entanglement and quantum correlation of the underlying $\alpha$-vacua, respectively. Our results imply that the quantum entanglement gravitated by de Sitter gravity behaves quite differently for time-like and space-like separations. It experiences ``sudden death" for the former and grows for the latter as the measuring time or the value of $\alpha$ increases. This demonstrates the nonlocal nature of quantum entanglement. For the quantum discord, we find no ``sudden death" behavior, and it experiences superhorizon suppression, which explains the superhorizon decoherence in the inflationary universe scenario. Overall, the time-like or space-like quantum entanglement and correlation behave differently on their dependence of $\alpha$, measuring time and spectral gaps, with details discussed in this work.

Holographic entanglement negativity for a single subsystem in conformal field theories with a conserved charge

We utilize a holographic construction to compute the entanglement negativity for bipartite mixed state configurations of a single subsystem in $CFT_d$s with a conserved charge dual to bulk $AdS_{d+1}$ geometries. In this context, we obtain the holographic entanglement negativity for single subsystems with long rectangular strip geometries in $CFT_d$s with a conserved charge dual to bulk non extremal and extremal Reissner-Nordström (RN)-$AdS_{d+1}$ black holes at the leading order in a perturbation theory. We demonstrate that the holographic entanglement negativity computed involves the elimination of thermal contributions at the leading order confirming earlier results in the literature. This also conforms to quantum information theory expectations and constitutes further consistency checks for the holographic construction.

Reflected entropy and Markov gap in non-inertial frames

We explore the reflected entropy and the Markov gap between two modes of a free fermionic field as observed by accelerating observers. This is done for both bipartite system which is described by Bell state and tripartite systems which are represented by Werner and Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger states. The reflected entropy degrades monotonically as a result of the Unruh effect, eventually reaching a non-zero minimum value in the limit of infinite acceleration. Furthermore, we show that the Markov gap exhibits monotonic behavior with regard to acceleration in all three cases. In addition, we suggest a function for reflected entropy which decreases monotonically with decreasing Unruh temperature for all states. Finally, we confirm that the reflected entropy for our system does reduce under the partial tracing of the degrees of freedom for our states.

Open String Probe in Soft Hair BTZ

We study the boundary CFT under supertranslation in terms of the AdS/CFT correspondence. In particular, we probe the soft hair BTZ background by several open string configurations as follows. The Ryu-Takayanaki formula of holographic entanglement remains intact under supertranslation. The U-shape string probe indicates that the flat part of meson potential is altered by the soft charge. The trailing string solution shows that the hair parameter plays the role of external field in the drag force. The study of hanging string in the Brownian motion suggests the transport variables, such as friction coefficient are likely affected by supertranslation.

Entanglement at the Soft-Hair Horizon

We study entanglement between two modes of a free bosonic and fermionic field as seen by two relatively accelerating observers at the soft-hair horizon of a four-dimensional supertranslated Schwarzschild black hole. First, we associate the shock wave to the near horizon geometry by explicit construction of map between their metric as well as relation between wave form factor and soft hair function. We then compute mutual information and entanglement negativity as a measure of entanglement between these two observers and show that their angular dependence at the soft-hair horizon. We also show that for vanishing soft hair function our results are equal to that of an ordinary Schwarzschild black hole case.

Covariant Holographic Entanglement Negativity for Adjacent Subsystems in $\mathrm{AdS_{3}/CFT_2}$

We propose a covariant holographic entanglement negativity constructionfor time-dependent mixed states of adjacent intervals in $(1+1)$-dimensional conformal field theories dual to non-static bulk $\mathrm{AdS_3}$ configurations. Our construction applied to $(1+1)$-dimensional conformal field theories with a conserved charge dual to non-extremal and extremal rotating BTZ black holes exactly reproduces the corresponding replica technique results, in the large central charge limit. We also utilize our conjecture to obtain the time-dependent holographic entanglement negativity for the mixed state in question for the $(1+1)$- dimensional CFT dual to a bulk Vaidya-$\mathrm{AdS_3}$ configuration.

Covariant holographic entanglement negativity for disjoint intervals in $AdS_3/CFT_2$

We advance a construction for the covariant holographic entanglement negativity for time dependent mixed states of disjoint intervals in $(1+1)$ dimensional conformal field theories ($CFT_{1+1}$) dual to bulk non static $AdS_3$ geometries. Application of our proposal to such mixed states in a $CFT_{1+1}$ dual to bulk non extremal and extremal rotating BTZ black holes exactly reproduces the replica technique results in the large central charge limit. We also investigate the time dependent holographic entanglement negativity for such mixed states in a $CFT_{1+1}$ dual to a bulk Vaidya-$AdS_3$ geometry in the context of their thermalization involving bulk black hole formation.

Time Evolution of Entanglement Negativity from Black Hole Interiors

We investigate the time evolution of entanglement negativity following a global quench for mixed state configurations of two disjoint and adjacent intervals in a ($1+1$)-dimensional conformal field theory ($CFT_{1+1}$) dual to the eternal black hole sliced in half by an end of the world brane, through the $AdS_3/CFT_2$ correspondence. To this end we obtain the time evolution of the holographic entanglement negativity for such mixed states from a dual bulk eternal black hole geometry and elucidate the relevant geodesic structures. The holographic entanglement negativity for such mixed states, following a global quench is described by half of the results for the eternal black hole. Significantly, in this case our holographic results match exactly with the corresponding $CFT_{1+1}$ computations.

Holographic entanglement negativity conjecture for adjacent intervals in $AdS_3/CFT_2$

We propose a holographic entanglement negativity conjecture involving the bulk geometry, for mixed states of adjacent intervals in $(1+1)$-dimensional dual conformal field theories through the $AdS/CFT$ correspondence. The holographic entanglement negativity is obtained from a specific algebraic sum of the geodesics anchored on respective intervals on the boundary which reduces to the holographic mutual information between them. Utilizing our conjecture we obtain the entanglement negativity of adjacent intervals in zero and finite temperature ($1+1$)-dimensional holographic conformal field theories dual to the bulk $AdS_3$ vacuum and the Euclidean BTZ black hole respectively. Our holographic conjecture exactly reproduces the conformal field theory results obtained through the replica technique, in the large central charge limit. We briefly elucidate the corresponding issue for the $AdS_{d+1}/CFT_d$ scenario.

Holographic entanglement negativity for disjoint intervals in $AdS_3/CFT_2$

We advance a holographic construction for the entanglement negativity of bipartite mixed state configurations of two disjoint intervals in $(1+1)$ dimensional conformal field theories ($CFT_{1+1}$) through the $AdS_3/CFT_2$ correspondence. Our construction constitutes the large central charge analysis of the entanglement negativity for mixed states under consideration and involves a specific algebraic sum of bulk space like geodesics anchored on appropriate intervals in the dual $CFT_{1+1}$. The construction is utilized to compute the holographic entanglement negativity for such mixed states in $CFT_{1+1}$s dual to bulk pure $AdS_3$ geometries and BTZ black holes respectively. Our analysis exactly reproduces the universal features of corresponding replica technique results in the large central charge limit which serves as a consistency check.

We establish our recently proposed holographic entanglement negativity conjecture for mixed states of adjacent subsystems in conformal field theories with concrete higher dimensional examples. In this context we compute the holographic entanglement negativity for mixed states of adjacent subsystems in $d$-dimensional conformal field theories dual to bulk $AdS_{d+1}$ vacuum and $AdS_{d+1}$-Schwarzschild black holes. These representative examples provide strong indication for the universality of our conjecture which affirms significant implications for diverse applications.

Thermodynamic Geometry of Black Holes in the Canonical Ensemble

We investigate the thermodynamics and critical phenomena for four dimensional RN-AdS and Kerr-AdS black holes in the canonical ensemble both for the normal and the extended phase space employing the framework of thermodynamic geometry. The thermodynamic scalar curvatures for these black holes characterizes the liquid-gas like first order phase transition analogous to the van der Waals fluids, through the $R$-Crossing Method. It is also shown that the thermodynamic scalar curvatures diverge as a function of the temperature at the critical point.
