Anchored Nash inequalities and heat kernel bounds for a class of random conductance models with long-range jumps

We show anchored versions of the Nash inequality for discrete non-local divergence-form operators with degenerate weights. They allow to control the $L^{2}$-norm of a function by Dirichlet forms that are not uniformly elliptic. We then use them to provide on-diagonal heat kernel upper bounds for a class of random conductance models with degenerate jump rates allowing long-range jumps. The results are established on a class of graphs including the integer lattice and possibly correlated supercritical percolation clusters.

Scaling limit of the discrete Gaussian free field with degenerate random conductances

We consider discrete Gaussian free fields with ergodic random conductances on a class of random subgraphs of $\mathbb{Z}^{d}$, $d \geq 2$, including i.i.d.\ supercritical percolation clusters, where the conductances are possibly unbounded but satisfy a moment condition. As our main result, we show that, for almost every realization of the environment, the rescaled field converges in law towards a continuum Gaussian free field. We also present a scaling limit for the covariances of the field. To obtain the latter, we establish a quenched local limit theorem for the Green's function of the associated random walk among random conductances with Dirichlet boundary conditions.

Two-sided heat kernel bounds for $\sqrt{8/3}$-Liouville Brownian motion

Liouville Brownian motion (LBM) is the canonical diffusion process on a Liouville quantum gravity (LQG) surface. In this work, we establish upper and lower bounds for the heat kernel for LBM when $\gamma=\sqrt{8/3}$ in terms of the $\sqrt{8/3}$-LQG metric which are sharp up to a polylogarithmic factor in the exponential.

Homogenization theory of random walks in degenerate random environment

Recent progress on the understanding of the Random Conductance Model is reviewed. A particular emphasis is on homogenization results such as functional central limit theorems, local limit theorems and heat kernel estimates for almost every realization of the environment, established for random walks among stationary ergodic conductances that are possibly unbounded but satisfy certain moment conditions.

Invariance principle and local limit theorem for a class of random conductance models with long-range jumps

We study continuous time random walks on $\mathbb{Z}^d$ (with $d \geq 2$) among random conductances $\{ \omega(\{x,y\}) : x,y \in \mathbb{Z}^d\}$ that permit jumps of arbitrary length. The law of the random variables $\omega(\{x,y\})$, taking values in $[0, \infty)$, is assumed to be stationary and ergodic with respect to space shifts. Assuming that the first moment of $\sum_{x \in \mathbb{Z}^d} \omega(\{0,x\}) |x|^2$ and the $q$-th moment of $1/\omega(0,x)$ for $x$ neighbouring the origin are finite for some $ q >d/2$, we show a quenched invariance principle and a quenched local limit theorem, where the moment condition is optimal for the latter. We also obtain H\"older regularity estimates for solutions of the heat equation for the associated non-local discrete operator, and deduce that the pointwise spectral dimension equals $d$ almost surely. Our results apply to random walks on long-range percolation graphs with connectivity exponents larger than $d+2$ when all nearest-neighbour edges are present.

Heat kernel fluctuations for stochastic processes on fractals and random media

It is well-known that stochastic processes on fractal spaces or in certain random media exhibit anomalous heat kernel behaviour. One manifestation of such irregular behaviour is the presence of fluctuations in the short- or long-time asymptotics of the on-diagonal heat kernel. In this note we review some examples for which such fluctuations are known to occur, including Brownian motion on certain deterministic or random fractals, and simple random walks on various examples of random graph trees, such as the incipient infinite cluster of critical percolation on a regular tree and low-dimensional uniform spanning trees. We also announce some new results that add the one-dimensional Bouchaud trap model to this class of examples.

Heat kernel fluctuations and quantitative homogenization for the one-dimensional Bouchaud trap model

We present on-diagonal heat kernel estimates and quantitative homogenization statements for the one-dimensional Bouchaud trap model. The heat kernel estimates are obtained using standard techniques, with key inputs coming from a careful analysis of the volume growth of the invariant measure of the process under study. As for the quantitative homogenization results, these include both quenched and annealed Berry-Esseen-type theorems, as well as a quantitative quenched local limit theorem. Whilst the model we study here is a particularly simple example of a random walk in a random environment, we believe the roadmap we provide for establishing the latter result in particular will be useful for deriving quantitative local limit theorems in other, more challenging, settings.

Biased random walk on dynamical percolation

We study biased random walks on dynamical percolation on $\mathbb{Z}^d$. We establish a law of large numbers and an invariance principle for the random walk using regeneration times. Moreover, we verify that the Einstein relation holds, and we investigate the speed of the walk as a function of the bias. While for $d=1$ the speed is increasing, we show that in general this fails in dimension $d \geq 2$. As our main result, we establish two regimes of parameters, separated by an explicit critical curve, such that the speed is either eventually strictly increasing or eventually strictly decreasing. This is in sharp contrast to the biased random walk on a static supercritical percolation cluster, where the speed is known to be eventually zero.

First passage percolation with long-range correlations and applications to random Schr\"odinger operators

We consider first passage percolation (FPP) with passage times generated by a general class of models with long-range correlations on $\mathbb{Z}^d$, $d\geq 2$, including discrete Gaussian free fields, Ginzburg-Landau $\nabla \phi$ interface models or random interlacements as prominent examples. We show that the associated time constant is positive, the FPP distance is comparable to the Euclidean distance, and we obtain a shape theorem. We also present two applications for random conductance models (RCM) with possibly unbounded and strongly correlated conductances. Namely, we obtain a Gaussian heat kernel upper bound for RCMs with a general class of speed measures, and an exponential decay estimate for the Green function of RCMs with random killing measures.

Quenched local limit theorem for random walks among time-dependent ergodic degenerate weights

We establish a quenched local central limit theorem for the dynamic random conductance model on $\mathbb{Z}^d$ only assuming ergodicity with respect to space-time shifts and a moment condition. As a key analytic ingredient we show H\"older continuity estimates for solutions to the heat equation for discrete finite difference operators in divergence form with time-dependent degenerate weights. The proof is based on De Giorgi's iteration technique. In addition, we also derive a quenched local central limit theorem for the static random conductance model on a class of random graphs with degenerate ergodic weights.

Local Limit Theorems for the Random Conductance Model and Applications to the Ginzburg-Landau $\nabla\phi$ Interface Model

We study a continuous-time random walk on $\mathbb{Z}^d$ in an environment of random conductances taking values in $(0,\infty)$. For a static environment, we extend the quenched local limit theorem to the case of a general speed measure, given suitable ergodicity and moment conditions on the conductances and on the speed measure. Under stronger moment conditions, an annealed local limit theorem is also derived. Furthermore, an annealed local limit theorem is exhibited in the case of time-dependent conductances, under analogous moment and ergodicity assumptions. This dynamic local limit theorem is then applied to prove a scaling limit result for the space-time covariances in the Ginzburg-Landau $\nabla\phi$ model. We also show that the associated Gibbs distribution scales to a Gaussian free field. These results apply to convex potentials for which the second derivative may be unbounded.

Green kernel asymptotics for two-dimensional random walks under random conductances

We consider random walks among random conductances on $\mathbb{Z}^2$ and establish precise asymptotics for the associated potential kernel and the Green's function of the walk killed upon exiting balls. The result is proven for random walks on i.i.d. supercritical percolation clusters among ergodic degenerate conductances satisfying a moment condition. We also provide a similar result for the time-dynamic random conductance model. As an application we present a scaling limit for the variances in the Ginzburg-Landau $\nabla \phi$-interface model.

Heat kernel estimates and intrinsic metric for random walks with general speed measure under degenerate conductances

We establish heat kernel upper bounds for a continuous-time random walk under unbounded conductances satisfying an integrability assumption, where we correct and extend recent results by the authors to a general class of speed measures. The resulting heat kernel estimates are governed by the intrinsic metric induced by the speed measure. We also provide a comparison result of this metric with the usual graph distance, which is optimal in the context of the random conductance model with ergodic conductances.

Berry-Esseen Theorem and Quantitative homogenization for the Random Conductance Model with degenerate Conductances

We study the random conductance model on the lattice $\mathbb{Z}^d$, i.e. we consider a linear, finite-difference, divergence-form operator with random coefficients and the associated random walk under random conductances. We allow the conductances to be unbounded and degenerate elliptic, but they need to satisfy a strong moment condition and a quantified ergodicity assumption in form of a spectral gap estimate. As a main result we obtain in dimension $d\geq 3$ quantitative central limit theorems for the random walk in form of a Berry-Esseen estimate with speed $t^{-\frac 1 5+\varepsilon}$ for $d\geq 4$ and $t^{-\frac{1}{10}+\varepsilon}$ for $d=3$. Additionally, in the uniformly elliptic case in low dimensions $d=2,3$ we improve the rate in a quantitative Berry-Esseen theorem recently obtained by Mourrat. As a central analytic ingredient, for $d\geq 3$ we establish near-optimal decay estimates on the semigroup associated with the environment process. These estimates also play a central role in quantitative stochastic homogenization and extend some recent results by Gloria, Otto and the second author to the degenerate elliptic case.

Diffusion processes on branching Brownian motion

We construct a class of one-dimensional diffusion processes on the particles of branching Brownian motion that are symmetric with respect to the limits of random martingale measures. These measures are associated with the extended extremal process of branching Brownian motion and are supported on a Cantor-like set. The processes are obtained via a time-change of a standard one-dimensional reflected Brownian motion on $\mathbb{R}_+$ in terms of the associated positive continuous additive functionals. The processes introduced in this paper may be regarded as an analogue of the Liouville Brownian motion which has been recently constructed in the context of a Gaussian free field.

Quenched invariance principle for random walks with time-dependent ergodic degenerate weights

We study a continuous-time random walk, $X$, on $\mathbb{Z}^d$ in an environment of dynamic random conductances taking values in $(0, \infty)$. We assume that the law of the conductances is ergodic with respect to space-time shifts. We prove a quenched invariance principle for the Markov process $X$ under some moment conditions on the environment. The key result on the sublinearity of the corrector is obtained by Moser's iteration scheme.

Heat kernel estimates for random walks with degenerate weights

We establish Gaussian-type upper bounds on the heat kernel for a continuous-time random walk on a graph with unbounded weights under an ergodicity assumption. For the proof we use Davies' perturbation method, where we show a maximal inequality for the perturbed heat kernel via Moser iteration.
