Cutoff with an $O(1)$ window for Potts Glauber Dynamics on lattice at High Temperature

We prove cutoff with an $O(1)$ window for the continuous-time heat-bath Glauber dynamics of the ferromagnetic $q$-state Potts model on the discrete torus $\Lambda_n=(\mathbb Z/n\mathbb Z)^d$ at sufficiently high temperature. For every fixed $d\ge2$ and $q\ge3$, there exists $\beta_0=\beta_0(d,q)>0$ such that, for $0<\beta<\beta_0$, the Glauber dynamics of the Potts model on $\Lambda_n$ exhibits cutoff with optimal $O(1)$ window around \[ t_\star=t_\star^{(n)}:=\frac{1}{2\mathfrak{r}}\log |\Lambda_n|, \] where $\mathfrak{r}\in(0,1)$ is the exponential decay rate of the one-site magnetization. In particular, this determines the mixing time up to an additive $O(1)$. It is characterized by the point at which the macroscopic color-density bias from the monochromatic initial condition enters the scale of equilibrium fluctuations. Moreover, our proof shows that the monochromatic initial condition uniquely maximizes the color bias. This is the first implementation of information percolation to prove cutoff for a non-monotone spin system. In contrast with the Ising model, a direct implementation of information percolation does not yield matching upper and lower bounds for the Potts dynamics when $q\ge3$. We overcome this by developing an information-percolation framework for signed influences and combining it with Fourier bounds on signed convolution powers and geometric control of history diagrams.

Atomic-referenced Hz-linewidth lasers via fiber interferometric stabilization

Narrow-linewidth lasers with absolute frequency anchoring are essential for precision metrology, coherent sensing, and emerging quantum technologies beyond laboratory environments. Optical cavities and interferometers provide exceptional short-term spectral purity but lack intrinsic absolute frequency references. Atomic transitions, in contrast, provide stable frequency anchors but offer limited discrimination sensitivity. Recent hybrid approaches have demonstrated the combination of compact optical resonators with atomic references, yet achieving the Hz-level regime remains challenging. Here, we present a hybrid architecture that enables simultaneous realization of Hz-level linewidth and atomic-referenced frequency stability. An external-cavity diode laser is first stabilized to a fiber interferometer to achieve Hz-level spectral purity, while the interferometer is subsequently anchored to an 87Rb D2 transition via modulation transfer spectroscopy to suppress long-term drift and define the laser frequency relative to the atomic transition. This dual-stabilization scheme realizes a compact atomic-referenced laser with a 3.4-Hz linewidth (1-rad integrated-phase method), a minimum fractional frequency stability of 3.4x10-14 at 0.56 s, and 9x10-13 at 100 s. This architecture establishes a practical and scalable route toward compact and field-deployable atomic-referenced narrow-linewidth lasers for precision metrology and quantum technologies.

Real-Field Hong-Ou-Mandel Interference of Indistinguishable Coherent Photons via Long Optical Injection-Locking over 50 km Fiber

Measurement-device-independent quantum key distribution (MDI-QKD) has garnered significant attention for its potential to enable security-loophole-free quantum communication. Successful MDI-QKD protocols rely on performing a two-photon Bell-state measurement at an intermediate node, with a high-visibility Hong-Ou-Mandel (HOM) interference pattern between two independent coherent photons being crucial. In this study, we present a novel approach for developing indistinguishable coherent photon sources over 50 km of optical fiber in a real-world setting. We introduce the long optical injection-locking (long-OIL) technique, which enables frequency locking between two long-distance coherent photons beyond the coherence length of the master laser. Using the long-OIL technique, we achieved time-resolved HOM interference with a visibility of 48(2)%, approaching the theoretical 50% limit for two independent continuous-wave coherent photons. Our results demonstrate that the long-OIL platform is a promising solution for MDI-QKD with repeaterless secret key capacity.

Cutoff and Dynamical Phase Transition for the General Multi-component Ising Model

We study the multi-component Ising model, which is also known as the block Ising model. In this model, the particles are partitioned into a fixed number of groups with a fixed proportion, and the interaction strength is determined by the group to which each particle belongs. We demonstrate that the Glauber dynamics on our model exhibits the cutoff$\mbox{--}$metastability phase transition as passing the critical inverse-temperature $β_{cr}$, which is determined by the proportion of the groups and their interaction strengths, regardless of the total number of particles. For $β<β_{cr}$, the dynamics shows a cutoff at $αn\log n$ with a window size $O(n)$, where $α$ is a constant independent of $n$. For $β=β_{cr}$, we prove that the mixing time is of order $n^{3/2}$. In particular, we deduce the so-called non-central limit theorem for the block magnetizations to validate the optimal bound at $β=β_{cr}$. For $β>β_{cr}$, we examine the metastability, which refers to the exponential mixing time. Our results, based on the position of the employed Ising model on the complete multipartite graph, generalize the results of previous versions of the model.

Relaxation dynamics of SIR-flocks with random epidemic states

We study the collective dynamics of a multi-particle system with three epidemic states as an internal state. For the collective modeling of active particle system, we adopt modeling spirits from the swarmalator model and the SIR epidemic model for the temporal evolution of particles' position and internal states. Under suitable assumptions on system parameters and non-collision property of initial spatial configuration, we show that the proposed model does not admit finite-time collisions so that the standard Cauchy-Lipschitz theory can be applied for the global well-posedness. For the relaxation dynamics, we provide several sufficient frameworks leading to the relaxation dynamics of the proposed model. The proposed sufficient frameworks are formulated in terms of system parameters and initial configuration. Under such sufficient frameworks, we show that the state configuration relaxes to the fixed constant configuration via the exponentially perturbed gradient system and explicit dynamics of the SIR model. We present explicit lower and upper bounds for the minimal and maximal relative distances.
