Solutions of the Ginsparg-Wilson Relation

We analyze general solutions of the Ginsparg-Wilson relation for lattice Dirac operators and formulate a necessary condition for such operators to have non-zero index in the topologically nontrivial background gauge fields.

Chiral structure of the solutions of the Ginsparg-Wilson relation

We analyse the structure of solutions of the Ginsparg-Wilson relation for lattice Dirac operator in topologically trivial gauge sector. We show that the properties of such solutions relating to the perturbative stability of the pole of the fermion propagator as well as to the structure of the Yukawa models based on these solutions are solely determined by the non-local chirally invariant part of these Dirac operators. Depending on the structure of this part, the pole in the fermion propagator may or may not be stable under radiative corrections. We illustrate this by explicit examples.

Simple ansatz for the lattice fermion determinant

An ansatz for the fermion vacuum functional on a lattice is proposed. It is proved to reproduce correct continuum limit for convergent diagrams of any finite order in smooth external fields, as well as consistent chiral anomalies, and ensures gauge invariance of the absolute value of the functional at any lattice spacing. The ansatz corresponds to a certain non-local fermion action having global chiral invariance. Problems caused by non-smooth gauge fields are discussed.

On behaviour of critical lines near ferrimagnetic phase in Higgs-Yukawa systems

We calculate within a mean-field approximation the slopes of the critical lines near the point of appearing the ferrimagnetic phase for the U(1) systems in the weak coupling regime. It is demonstrated that the slope of one of the critical line is continuous, while change of the slope of the other depends strongly on the number of the fermion flavours. We also find that in the ferrimagnetic phase near such a point the magnetization and the staggered magnetization align orthogonally to each other.

Lattice fermions with gauge noninvariant measure

We define Weyl fermions on a finite lattice in such a way that in the path integral the action is gauge invariant but the functional measure is not. Two variants of such a formulation are tested in perturbative calculation of the fermion determinant in chiral Schwinger model. We find that one of these variants ensures restoring the gauge invariance of the nonanomalous part of the determinant in the continuum limit. A `perfect' perturbative regularization of the chiral fermions is briefly discussed.

Which Higgs-Yukawa systems can possess non-trivial fixed points

We argue that non-trivial fixed points bordering on the paramagnetic and ferromagnetic phases are most likely to exist in the Higgs-Yukawa systems that have a connected domain with the paramagnetic phase and no ferrimagnetic phase. We find three examples of such systems; among them is the U(1) system with naive fermions.

Phase diagrams of a Higgs-Yukawa system with chirally invariant lattice fermion actions

We study the phase structure of a $Z_2$ lattice Higgs-Yukawa system with different forms of chirally invariant lattice fermion actions: naive, two types of non-local actions, and a mirror fermion action. The calculations are performed in the variational mean field approximation with contribution of fermionic determinant being calculated in a ladder approximation. We demonstrate that the phase structure of the system crucially depends on the form of the lattice fermion action, despite the fact that the Higgs field couples to fermions in the same local way. A possibility of defining chiral gauge theories based on mirror fermion action is briefly discussed.

On a mean field approximation for Higgs-Yukawa systems

We discuss the phase structure of a lattice Higgs-Yukawa system in the variational mean field approximation with contributions of fermionic determinant being calculated in a ladder approximation. In particular, we demonstrate that in this approximation the ferrimagnetic phase in the $Z_2$ model with naive fermions can appear as an artifact of a finite lattice and that the phase diagram for this model on infinite lattice changes qualitatively at space-time dimension $D = 4$ compared with those at $D > 4$.

Reflection positive formulation of chiral gauge theories on a lattice

Gauge invariant chiral theories satisfying the reflection positivity is constructed on a lattice. This requires the introduction of "half gauge fields" defined some time ago by Brydges, Fröhlich, and Seiler \cite{BFS}. A two-dimensional model is considered in some detail.
