Molecular zero-range potential method and its application to cyclic structures

The zero-range potentials of the radial Schrodinger equation are investigated from a point of Darboux transformations scheme. The dressing procedure is realized as a sequence of Darboux transformations in a way similar to that used to obtain the generalized zero-range potentials of Huang-Derevianko by specific choice of a family of parameters. In the present approach we stay within the framework of conventional zero-range potential method whilst the potential parameter (scattering length) is modified taken into account spectral molecular properties. This allows to introduce molecular zero-range potential once the corresponding discrete spectrum is known. The results are illustrated on example of flat cyclic molecular structures, with particular focus on a benzene molecule, which bounded states energies are first found using atomic zero-range potentials, compared with the Huckel method, and then used to introduce single zero-range potential describing the entire molecule. Reasonable scattering behavior for newly introduced potential gives a possibility to tackle many-molecule problems representing molecules as appropriate single zero-range potentials.

Multiple scattering and electron-uracil collisions at low energies

Links between two well known methods: methods of zero-range and non-overlapped (muffin-tin) potentials are discussed. Some difficulties of the method of zero-range potentials and its possible elimination are discussed. We argue that such advanced method of ZRP potential can be applied to realistic electron-molecular processes. The method reduces electron-molecule scattering to generalized eigenvalue problem for hermitian matrices and admit fast numerical scheme. A noteworthy feature of the method is direct possibility to calculate the wave functions (partial waves). The theory is applied to electron-uracil scattering. Partial phases and cross-sections at low energies are evaluated and plotted.

Fluid dynamics at arbitrary Knudsen on a base of Alexeev-Boltzmann equation: sound in a rarefied gas

The system of hydrodynamic-type equations is derived from Alexeev's generalized Boltzmann kinetic equation by two-side distribution function for a stratified gas in gravity field. It is applied to a problem of ultrasound propagation and attenuation. The linearized version of the obtained system is studied and compared with the Navier-Stokes one at arbitrary Knudsen numbers. The problem of a generation by a moving plane in a rarefied gas is explored and used as a test while compared with experiment. It is good agreement between predicted propagation speed, attenuation factor and experimental results for a wide range of Knudsen numbers.
