A computational criterion for the Kac conjecture

We give a criterion for the Kac conjecture asserting that the free term of the polynomial counting the absolutely indecomposable representations of a quiver over a finite field of given dimension coincides with the corresponding root multiplicity of the associated Kac-Moody algebra. Our criterion suits very well for computer tests.

Classification of semistable sheaves on a rational curve with one node

We classify (semi)stable sheaves on a rational curve with one node. The results are based on the classification of indecomposable torsion-free sheaves due to Drozd and Greuel "Tame and wild projective curves and classification of vector bundles", where the sheaves are described in terms of certain combinatorial data. We translate the condition of (semi)stability into this combinatorial language and solve the so obtained problem.

On the multiplicities of the irreducible highest weight modules over Kac-Moody algebras

We prove that the weight multiplicities of the integrable irreducible highest weight module over the Kac-Moody algebra associated to a quiver are equal to the root multiplicities of the Kac-Moody algebra associated to some enlarged quiver. To do this, we use the Kac conjecture for indivisible roots and a relation between the Poincare polynomials of quiver varieties and the Kac polynomials, counting the number of absolutely irreducible representations of the quiver over finite fields. As a corollary of this relation, we get an explicit formula for the Poincare polynomials of quiver varieties, which is equivalent to the formula of Hausel.

Stringy motives of symmetric products

Given a complex smooth algebraic variety X, we compute the generating function of the stringy motives of its symmetric powers as a function of motive of X. In dimension two we recover the Goettsche formulas for Hilbert schemes. We use the formalism of lambda-rings to get a particularly compact formula, which is convenient for explicit computations.
