Hilbert Series and Superconformal Indices of the Improved Bifundamentals

We explore the structure of the moduli space of vacua of Improved Bifundamentals, a recently introduced class of superconformal field theories (SCFTs). Utilising the Hilbert Series, computed as a specific limit of the Superconformal Index, we establish that the moduli spaces of these theories are simple algebraic varieties, presenting a single connected component for three of the families studied (FT_N , FC_N , FH_N ) and a main branch plus simple branches generated by singlets for the remaining families (FM_N , FE_N).

Universal Planar Abelian Duals for 3d $\mathcal{N}=2$ Symplectic CS-SQCD

We propose a new class of infrared dualities relating three-dimensional $\mathcal{N}=2$ $USp(2N)$ Chern--Simons SQCD to planar Abelian quiver gauge theories. These dual descriptions are constructed via real mass deformations of established $\mathcal N=4$ mirror dualities between $\mathcal{N}=4$ $USp(2N)$ SQCD and unitary $D$-type quiver gauge theories. The resulting $\mathcal N=2$ dual pairs exhibit the characteristic exchange of topological and flavor symmetries. We provide nontrivial evidence for these dualities by matching $\mathbf{S}^3_b$ partition functions, superconformal indices, and gauge-invariant operator spectra. Furthermore, we systematically incorporate additional real mass deformations on both sides of the duality, allowing us to extend the construction to $\mathcal{N}=2$ symplectic SQCD with generic ranks, flavors, and Chern--Simons levels.

Universal Planar Abelian Duals for 3d $\mathcal{N}=2$ Unitary CS-SQCD

We provide an explicit planar Abelian dual for three-dimensional $\mathcal{N}=2$ $U(N)_k$ SQCD with $F$ fundamental chiral multiplets. This construction covers the entire $(N, F, k)$ parameter space (provided supersymmetry is unbroken), offering a unified framework for the infrared physics of these theories. Our results generalize a recently discovered class of chiral-planar dualities, which were previously limited to the locus $F = 2|k| + 2N$, which is a mass deformation of $\mathcal{N}=4$ mirror symmetry plus a restricted set of additional mass deformations. By developing a systematic algorithm to track the flow of the dual theory under generic mass deformations, we establish the planar Abelian quiver not merely as a specific dual description, but as a universal tool for analyzing 3d gauge dynamics.

A Chiral-Planar dualization algorithm for 3d $\mathcal{N}=2$ Chern-Simons-matter theories

We show that a broad class of three-dimensional $\mathcal{N}=2$ chiral Chern-Simons gauge theories admit an abelian and planar dual description. These chiral-planar dualities emerge by performing real mass deformations on known $\mathcal{N}=4$ mirror pairs, using the $\mathcal{N}=2^*$ setup to flow to chiral theories on the electric side. While identifying the correct dual vacuum is subtle due to the rich structure of the Coulomb branch, we develop a mirror dualization algorithm that streamlines this process and systematically provides the abelian-planar duals of chiral quivers.

Planar Abelian Duals of Chern-Simons QCD

We propose novel infrared dualities connecting 2+1 dimensional non-Abelian gauge theories (with unitary or special unitary gauge groups) to Abelian gauge theories. The dual Abelian theories are characterized by a planar quiver structure, where interactions are fully encoded in the quiver diagram. These dualities are rooted in supersymmetric mirror symmetry and display the characteristic exchange of mesonic and monopole operators. Furthermore, our proposed dualities exhibit features of bosonization: the addition of a fermionic (bosonic) flavor to the non-Abelian side corresponds to the addition of a bosonic (fermionic) column in the dual planar quiver.

Star-triangle dualities and supersymmetric improved bifundamentals

Recently it was shown that mirror duals of 3d and 4d theories with four super-charges can be described by generalized quiver theories, constructed using strongly coupled SCFTs as elementary building blocks that replace and improve standard bifundamentals. In this work we study and extend the family of such improved bifundamentals and discuss the network of star-triangle dualities they satisfy. We provide a field theoretic proof of the star-triangle dualities, which only assumes the basic Seiberg dualities, using the sequential deconfinement technique.

Planar Abelian Mirror Duals of $\mathcal{N}=2$ SQCD$_3$

We propose an Abelian mirror dual for the $\mathcal{N}=2$ SQCD$_3$ that we obtain as real mass deformation of known $\mathcal{N}=4$ mirror pairs. We match the superconformal index and the $\mathbf{S}^3_b$ partition function, discuss the agreement of the moduli spaces, and provide a map of the gauge invariant operators and the global symmetries as evidence of this duality.

Mirror dualities with four supercharges

We consider 3d N=2 non-abelian Hanany-Witten brane setups with chiral flavor symmetry. We propose that the associated field theories are quivers with improved bifundamentals, instead of standard bifundamentals. The improved bifundamental is a strongly coupled SCFT that carries one more U(1) global symmetry than the standard bifundamental. As a consequence, our proposal overcomes the long standing challenge of associating to each N=2 brane setup a gauge theory with the full rank global symmetry, allowing the study of all the usual supersymmetric observables, such as superconformal index, sphere partition function, chiral ring and moduli space. The construction passes many non-trivial tests, for instance we algorithmically prove that any two improved quivers associated to S-dual brane setups are infrared dual. The 3d N=2 mirror dualities can be uplifted to 4d dualities with 4d improved bifundamentals connecting USp(2N) nodes.

Deconfinements, Kutasov-Schwimmer dualities and $D_p[SU(N)]$ theories

Kutasov-Schwimmer (KS) dualities involve a rank-$2$ field with a polynomial superpotential. We derive KS-like dualities via deconfinement, that is assuming only Seiberg-like dualities, which instead just involve fundamental matter. Our derivation is split into two main steps. The first step is the construction of two families of linear quivers with $p\!-\!1$ nodes that confine into a rank-$2$ chiral field with degree-$(p\!+\!1)$ superpotential. Such chiral field is an $U(N)$ adjoint in 3d and an $USp(2N)$ antisymmetric in 4d. In the second step we use these linear quivers to derive, via deconfinement, in a relatively straightforward fashion, two classes of KS-like dualities: the Kim-Park duality for $U(N)$ with adjoint in 3d and the Intriligator duality for $USp(2N)$ with antisymmetric in 4d. We also discuss the close relation of our 3d family of confining unitary quivers to the 4d $\mathcal{N}\!=\!2$ $D_p[SU(N)]$ SCFTs by circle compactification and various deformations.

4d N=1 dualities from 5d dualities

We consider $5d$ KK dualities, that is multiple $5d$ gauge theories with the same $6d$ infinite coupling limit. We provide a prescription to associate $4d$ $N=1$ quivers to the $5d$ dual quivers, such that the $4d$ quivers are also dual to each other. The $4d$ dualities are infrared dualities which can be checked matching global symmetry anomalies and in certain cases can be proven using basic Seiberg dualities sequentially. We also consider dualities obtained by Higgsing in two different ways the same $5d$ theory, in some simple examples.

Non-invertible symmetries along 4d RG flows

We explore novel examples of RG flows preserving a non-invertible self-duality symmetry. Our main focus is on $\mathcal{N}=1$ quadratic superpotential deformations of 4d $\mathcal{N}=4$ super-Yang-Mills theory with gauge algebra $\mathfrak{su}(N)$. A theory that can be obtained in this way is the so-called $\mathcal{N}=1^*$ SYM where all adjoint chiral multiplets have a mass. Such IR theory exhibits a rich structure of vacua which we thoroughly examine. Our analysis elucidates the physics of spontaneous breaking of self-duality symmetry occurring in the degenerate gapped vacua. The construction can be generalized, taking as UV starting point a theory of class $\mathcal{S}$, to demonstrate how non-invertible self-duality symmetries exist in a variety of $\mathcal{N}=1$ SCFTs. We finally apply this understanding to prove that the conifold theory has a non-invertible self-duality symmetry.

S-confining gauge theories and supersymmetry enhancements

We propose new classes of $4d$ $\mathcal{N}\!=\!1$ S-confining gauge theories, with a simple gauge group, rank-two matter and cubic superpotentials. The gauge group can be symplectic, orthogonal or special unitary. In some cases we derive the dualities via the deconfinement technique that uses iteratively known, more fundamental, dualities. In the symplectic case we discuss the $3d$ reduction to a confining unitary gauge theory with monopole superpotential. This $3d$ S-confinement provides an understanding of a recently proposed $4d$ $\mathcal{N}\!=\!1$ theory that flows to the conformal manifold of $\mathcal{N}\!=\!4$ SYM with $SU(2n+1)$ gauge group. The $3d$ perspective allows us to generalize this construction to another similar flow with supersymmetry enhancement: a $4d$ $\mathcal{N}\!=\!1$ theory that flows to the conformal manifold of a $4d$ $\mathcal{N}\!=\!2$ necklace theory with $SU(2n+1)^3$ gauge group.

A toolkit for ortho-symplectic dualities

We propose new confining dualities in $3d$ $\mathcal{N}\!=\!2$ gauge theories with orthogonal gauge groups, with and without monopole superpotentials. Deriving some of those dualities requires a sequence of gauging and Higgsing for a $\mathbb{Z}_2$ symmetry. This prevents the gauge theory from developing a smooth quantum moduli space and affects the global structure of the gauge group, muting it from $SO$ to $O_+$ . The confining dualities provide tools to deconfine fields transforming in the symmetric rank-$2$ representation of classical gauge groups. As an application, we propose and derive S-confining dualities for $SO(N)$ $(Sp(N))$ gauge theories with an adjoint and $1$ $(2)$ fundamentals, respectively. From these S-confining dualities, we readily obtain various duality appetizers and the $3d$ mirror of $A_{2N}$ Argyres-Douglas theories.

Infrared phases of 3d massless CS-QCD and large $N_f$

We compute anomalous dimensions of quartic operators which are singlets under the $\mathrm{U}(N_f)$ global symmetry in Yang-Mills theories with Chern-Simons level $k$ in three dimensions coupled to $N_f$ Dirac fermions. In order to have analytic control, we consider the regime $N_f\gg N_c\gg 1$, where the problem is reduced to the study of a flavor-adjoint and a flavor-singlet bilinears whose square give the quartic operators of interest. We provide evidence that these operators hit marginality, signaling instabilities which, for $\frac{2k}{N_f}<1$ suggest the spontaneous breaking of the global symmetry, and no symmetry breaking otherwise. For $k=N_f/2-1$ (the value corresponding to the domain walls of 4d QCD at $θ=π$), the critical value $N_f^*$ is tantalizingly close to the lower end of the conformal window of QCD$_4$, suggesting a connection between conformal and global symmetry breaking in the 4d theory and in its domain walls. We also study, at $k=0$, other quartic operators containing a singlet when branched under $\mathrm{U}\left(\frac{N_f}{2}\right)\times \mathrm{U}\left(\frac{N_f}{2}\right)$, finding that they hit marginality precisely at the same point as their flavor-neutral cousins. Using the same technology we study bosonic CS-QCD$_3$, finding no hint of symmetry breaking where our analysis is applicable.

Sequential deconfinement and self-dualities in $4d$ $\mathcal{N}\!=\!1$ gauge theories

We apply the technique of sequential deconfinement to the four dimensional $\mathcal{N}\!=\!1$ $Usp(2N)$ gauge theory with an antisymmetric field and $2F$ fundamentals. The fully deconfined frame is a length-$N$ quiver. We use this deconfined frame to prove the known self-duality of $Usp(2N)$ with an antisymmetric field and $8$ fundamentals. Along the way we encounter a subtlety: in certain quivers with degenerate holomorphic operators, a naive application of Seiberg duality rules leads to an incorrect superpotential or chiral ring. We also consider the reduction to $3d$ $\mathcal{N}\!=\!2$ theories, recovering known fully deconfined duals of $Usp(2N)$ and $U(N)$ gauge theories, and obtaining new ones.

S-confinements from deconfinements

We consider four dimensional $\mathcal{N}=1$ gauge theories that are S-confining, that is they are dual to a Wess-Zumino model. S-confining theories with a simple gauge group have been classified. We prove all the S-confining dualities in the list, when the matter fields transform in rank-$1$ and/or rank-$2$ representations. Our only assumptions are the S-confining dualities for $SU(N)$ with $N+1$ flavors and for $Usp(2N)$ with $2N+4$ fundamentals. The strategy consists in a sequence of deconfinements and re-confinements. We pay special attention to the explicit superpotential at each step.

Mildly Flavoring domain walls in SU(N) SQCD: baryons and monopole superpotentials

We study supersymmetric domain walls of four dimensional $SU(N)$ SQCD with $N$ and $N+1$ flavors. In $4d$ we analyze the BPS differential equations numerically. In $3d$ we propose the $\mathcal{N}=1$ Chern-Simons-Matter gauge theories living on the walls. Compared with the previously studied regime of $F<N$ flavors, we encounter a couple of novelties: with $N$ flavors, there are solutions/vacua breaking the $U(1)$ baryonic symmetry; with $N+1$ flavors, our $3d$ proposal includes a linear monopole operator in the superpotential.

Mildly Flavoring Domain Walls in Sp(N) SQCD

We consider supersymmetric domain walls of four-dimensional $\mathcal{N}\!=\!1$ $Sp(N)$ SQCD with $F\!=\!N+1$ and $F\!=\!N+2$ flavors. First, we study numerically the differential equations defining the walls, classifying the solutions. When $F\!=\!N+2$, in the special case of the parity-invariant walls, the naive analysis does not provide all the expected solutions. We show that an infinitesimal deformation of the differential equations sheds some light on this issue. Second, we discuss the $3d$ $\mathcal{N}\!=\!1$ Chern-Simons-matter theories that should describe the effective dynamics on the walls. These proposals pass various tests, including dualities and matching of the vacua of the massive $3d$ theory with the $4d$ analysis. However, for $F\!=\!N+2$, the semiclassical analysis of the vacua is only partially successful, suggesting that yet-to-be-understood strong coupling phenomena are into play in our $3d$ $\mathcal{N}\!=\!1$ gauge theories.
