VQC-ZTI: Variational Quantum Control for Zero Trust Protection of the Tactile Internet

Tactile Internet services couple cyber events directly to physical actuation, so security decisions must improve risk discrimination without perturbing the control path. This paper presents VQC-ZTI, a split-plane Variational Quantum Classifier framework for zero-trust protection of Tactile Internet services, in which an off-path VQC analyzes encrypted-flow telemetry while an on-path policy engine applies cached deterministic grant, restrict, step-up, and deny actions. By decoupling anomaly scoring from enforcement, VQC-ZTI preserves predictable control behavior and allows detector sensitivity and policy aggressiveness to be tuned independently. We evaluate the framework on CESNET-derived aggregated traffic using random, entity-group, and temporal holdouts with a hybrid PyTorch-PennyLane implementation. The full-hybrid Quantum Neural Network achieves mean areas under the receiver operating characteristic curve of 0.9981, 0.9974, and 0.9941 and reduces the false-positive rate relative to ExtraTrees by 44.6%, 49.6%, and 67.9%, respectively. A representative component-timing decomposition further illustrates that batched VQC scoring remains in the asynchronous evidence path rather than the immediate enforcement path.

Robust Constraint-Aware Bayesian Tuning of BBRv2 for QUIC under Tactile Internet Constraints

Tactile Internet applications place strict require- ments on latency, jitter, loss, and responsiveness, which makes transport configuration a critical design factor. Although BBRv2 offers a model-based congestion control framework with strong throughput potential, its default behavior may not be well aligned with delay-sensitive interactive scenarios. This paper presents a robust and constraint-aware tuning framework for BBRv2 in QUIC, where parameter selection is formulated as an expensive black-box optimization problem over multiple emulated network conditions. The tuning process uses Bayesian optimization with the Tree Structured Parzen Estimator to efficiently explore a bounded parameter space under noisy experimental measure- ments. The objective is designed to preserve throughput while enforcing limits on tail latency and loss, while delay instability is evaluated separately through the jitter metric. Experimental results across low, medium, and high impairment scenarios show that the tuned configuration improves tail latency, jitter behavior, and loss performance while maintaining competitive goodput relative to standard QUIC congestion control baselines. These results support robust black-box tuning as a practical method for adapting QUIC transport behavior to tactile Internet style requirements.

HyDRA Scorpion: A Cost-effective and Modular ROV for Real-Time Underwater Inspection, Intervention, and Object Detection

A Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) is a tethered underwater robot used for tasks like inspection and intervention. While essential tools for underwater science, the high cost of commercial ROVs and a persistent gap between mechanically capable platforms and those with integrated intelligence create a significant barrier to access. HyDRA Scorpion differs from conventional systems by addressing these challenges, integrating an advanced, AI-driven perception stack with in-situ measurement capabilities onto a low-cost, locally manufacturable platform. The system combines 4-DoF maneuverability, dual manipulators, and a custom pressure-tested housing. Experimental results validate the system's robustness and performance. Leak-free operation was confirmed through prolonged pressure testing of the electronics housing to 4 bar, equivalent to the pressure of a 304.8-meter water depth approximately in a simulated environment, with no moisture ingress detected. The vehicle also demonstrated stable station-keeping, maintaining its position within a tight tolerance of $\(\pm\)0.15$ meters under external disturbances. The onboard AI module achieved underwater object detection mean Average Precision (mAP) of 0.89 with real-time inference, length and 3D-mapping based distance measurement. Also, 4-DoF manipulator arm can grip and maintain dual-function manipulator feature which support 360 degree tangle-free rotation.

Bangla MedER: Multi-BERT Ensemble Approach for the Recognition of Bangla Medical Entity

Medical Entity Recognition (MedER) is an essential NLP task for extracting meaningful entities from the medical corpus. Nowadays, MedER-based research outcomes can remarkably contribute to the development of automated systems in the medical sector, ultimately enhancing patient care and outcomes. While extensive research has been conducted on MedER in English, low-resource languages like Bangla remain underexplored. Our work aims to bridge this gap. For Bangla medical entity recognition, this study first examined a number of transformer models, including BERT, DistilBERT, ELECTRA, and RoBERTa. We also propose a novel Multi-BERT Ensemble approach that outperformed all baseline models with the highest accuracy of 89.58%. Notably, it provides an 11.80% accuracy improvement over the single-layer BERT model, demonstrating its effectiveness for this task. A major challenge in MedER for low-resource languages is the lack of annotated datasets. To address this issue, we developed a high-quality dataset tailored for the Bangla MedER task. The dataset was used to evaluate the effectiveness of our model through multiple performance metrics, demonstrating its robustness and applicability. Our findings highlight the potential of Multi-BERT Ensemble models in improving MedER for Bangla and set the foundation for further advancements in low-resource medical NLP.

Quantum Noise-Aware RIS-Aided Wireless Networks Using Variational Encoding and Signal Stabilization

This paper presents a noise-aware quantum-assisted framework for blockage prediction in reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS)-enabled wireless networks. The proposed architecture integrates a Quantum Base Station (QBS), a Quantum RIS (QRIS), and a mobile Quantum User Node (QUN). Visual information captured by an onboard RGB camera is amplitude-encoded into quantum states, while channel state observations are mapped into quantum rotation-encoded features. These hybrid inputs are processed through variational quantum circuits, enabling ternary classification of the link status. To address the inherent imperfections of noisy intermediate-scale quantum (NISQ) hardware, the system explicitly models depolarizing and dephasing channels along direct and QRIS-assisted paths. A fidelity-aware training objective is employed to jointly minimize classification loss and quantum state degradation, with amplitude damping and synthetic noise injection enhancing robustness. Simulation results on a quantum-adapted version of the ViWi dataset demonstrate that the proposed hybrid quantum model achieves superior accuracy and stability under realistic noise conditions, outperforming baseline and single-modality approaches.

QSAFE-V: Quantum-Enhanced Lightweight Authentication Protocol Design for Vehicular Tactile Wireless Networks

With the rapid advancement of 6G technology, the Tactile Internet is emerging as a novel paradigm of interaction, particularly in intelligent transportation systems, where stringent demands for ultra-low latency and high reliability are prevalent. During the transmission and coordination of autonomous vehicles, malicious adversaries may attempt to compromise control commands or swarm behavior, posing severe threats to road safety and vehicular intelligence. Many existing authentication schemes claim to provide security against conventional attacks. However, recent developments in quantum computing have revealed critical vulnerabilities in these schemes, particularly under quantum-enabled adversarial models. In this context, the design of a quantum-secured, lightweight authentication scheme that is adaptable to vehicular mobility becomes essential. This paper proposes QSAFE-V, a quantum-secured authentication framework for edge-enabled vehicles that surpasses traditional security models. We conduct formal security proofs based on quantum key distribution and quantum adversary models, and also perform context-driven reauthentication analysis based on vehicular behavior. The output of quantum resilience evaluations indicates that QSAFE-V provides robust protection against quantum and contextual attacks. Furthermore, detailed performance analysis reveals that QSAFE-V achieves comparable communication and computation costs to classical schemes, while offering significantly stronger security guarantees under wireless Tactile Internet conditions.

Dynamic RIS-Assisted THz Quantum Networks: Joint Optimization of Entanglement Generation and Fidelity under Channel Impairments

Quantum networks (QNs) supported by terahertz (THz) wireless links present a transformative alternative to fiber-based infrastructures, particularly in mobile and infrastructure-scarce environments. However, signal attenuation, molecular absorption, and severe propagation losses in THz channels pose significant challenges to reliable quantum state transmission and entanglement distribution. To overcome these limitations, we propose a dynamic reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS)-assisted wireless QN architecture that leverages adaptive RIS elements capable of switching between active and passive modes based on the incident signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). These dynamic RIS elements enhance beamforming control over amplitude and phase, enabling robust redirection and compensation for THz-specific impairments. We develop a detailed analytical model that incorporates key physical layer phenomena in THz quantum links, including path loss, fading, thermal noise, and alignment variations. A secure optimization framework is formulated to jointly determine RIS placement and entanglement generation rate (EGR) allocation, while satisfying fidelity, security, and fairness constraints under diverse quality of service (QoS) demands. The model also includes an exploration of side-channel vulnerabilities arising from dynamic RIS switching patterns. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed architecture yields up to 87\% fidelity enhancement and 65\% fairness improvement compared to static RIS baselines, while maintaining robustness under realistic THz channel conditions. These results underscore the promise of dynamic RIS technology in enabling scalable and adaptive quantum communications over wireless THz links.

Lightweight Deep Learning-Based Channel Estimation for RIS-Aided Extremely Large-Scale MIMO Systems on Resource-Limited Edge Devices

Next-generation wireless technologies such as 6G aim to meet demanding requirements such as ultra-high data rates, low latency, and enhanced connectivity. Extremely Large-Scale MIMO (XL-MIMO) and Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface (RIS) are key enablers, with XL-MIMO boosting spectral and energy efficiency through numerous antennas, and RIS offering dynamic control over the wireless environment via passive reflective elements. However, realizing their full potential depends on accurate Channel State Information (CSI). Recent advances in deep learning have facilitated efficient cascaded channel estimation. However, the scalability and practical deployment of existing estimation models in XL-MIMO systems remain limited. The growing number of antennas and RIS elements introduces a significant barrier to real-time and efficient channel estimation, drastically increasing data volume, escalating computational complexity, requiring advanced hardware, and resulting in substantial energy consumption. To address these challenges, we propose a lightweight deep learning framework for efficient cascaded channel estimation in XL-MIMO systems, designed to minimize computational complexity and make it suitable for deployment on resource-constrained edge devices. Using spatial correlations in the channel, we introduce a patch-based training mechanism that reduces the dimensionality of input to patch-level representations while preserving essential information, allowing scalable training for large-scale systems. Simulation results under diverse conditions demonstrate that our framework significantly improves estimation accuracy and reduces computational complexity, regardless of the increasing number of antennas and RIS elements in XL-MIMO systems.

OSI Stack Redesign for Quantum Networks: Requirements, Technologies, Challenges, and Future Directions

Quantum communication is poised to become a foundational element of next-generation networking, offering transformative capabilities in security, entanglement-based connectivity, and computational offloading. However, the classical OSI model-designed for deterministic and error-tolerant systems-cannot support quantum-specific phenomena such as coherence fragility, probabilistic entanglement, and the no-cloning theorem. This paper provides a comprehensive survey and proposes an architectural redesign of the OSI model for quantum networks in the context of 7G. We introduce a Quantum-Converged OSI stack by extending the classical model with Layer 0 (Quantum Substrate) and Layer 8 (Cognitive Intent), supporting entanglement, teleportation, and semantic orchestration via LLMs and QML. Each layer is redefined to incorporate quantum mechanisms such as enhanced MAC protocols, fidelity-aware routing, and twin-based applications. This survey consolidates over 150 research works from IEEE, ACM, MDPI, arXiv, and Web of Science (2018-2025), classifying them by OSI layer, enabling technologies such as QKD, QEC, PQC, and RIS, and use cases such as satellite QKD, UAV swarms, and quantum IoT. A taxonomy of cross-layer enablers-such as hybrid quantum-classical control, metadata-driven orchestration, and blockchain-integrated quantum trust-is provided, along with simulation tools including NetSquid, QuNetSim, and QuISP. We present several domain-specific applications, including quantum healthcare telemetry, entangled vehicular networks, and satellite mesh overlays. An evaluation framework is proposed based on entropy throughput, coherence latency, and entanglement fidelity. Key future directions include programmable quantum stacks, digital twins, and AI-defined QNet agents, laying the groundwork for a scalable, intelligent, and quantum-compliant OSI framework for 7G and beyond.

Optimal Microcontroller Usage in Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface: Batteryless IoT Systems Case Study

To enhance wireless communication in IoT systems using reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RISs), efficient control of programmable passive and active elements is essential. However, increasing RIS elements requires more microcontrollers, raising complexity and cost. This paper proposes a modular approach ("Module"), where each microcontroller controls a module of optimal active or passive elements. The module size is determined using a non-linear energy harvesting model, where a batteryless IoT (b-IoT) sensor harvests energy from base station (BS) RF signals. We optimize the number of modules (microcontrollers) to minimize energy consumption while satisfying energy harvesting and information causality constraints. Simulations show that RIS module-assisted energy harvesting improves IoT system performance by ~100% compared to models without RIS panels.

Enhanced Position Estimation in Tactile Internet-Enabled Remote Robotic Surgery Using MOESP-Based Kalman Filter

Accurately estimating the position of a patient's side robotic arm in real time during remote surgery is a significant challenge, especially within Tactile Internet (TI) environments. This paper presents a new and efficient method for position estimation using a Kalman Filter (KF) combined with the Multivariable Output-Error State Space (MOESP) method for system identification. Unlike traditional approaches that require prior knowledge of the system's dynamics, this study uses the JIGSAW dataset, a comprehensive collection of robotic surgical data, along with input from the Master Tool Manipulator (MTM) to derive the state-space model directly. The MOESP method allows accurate modeling of the Patient Side Manipulator (PSM) dynamics without prior system models, improving the KF's performance under simulated network conditions, including delays, jitter, and packet loss. These conditions mimic real-world challenges in Tactile Internet applications. The findings demonstrate the KF's improved resilience and accuracy in state estimation, achieving over 95 percent accuracy despite network-induced uncertainties.
