Elliptic Generalization of Cherednik-Macdonald-Mehta identities

Integral identities for Macdonald polynomials play an important role in modern mathematics and mathematical physics. Especially interesting are the Cherednik-Macdonald-Mehta (CMM) identities, with profound connections to Double Affine Hecke Algebras (DAHA) and representation theory of quantum groups. These identities are central in refined Chern-Simons theory, where they lead to refined S and T matrices and ultimately to refined knot invariants. We suggest an elliptic generalization of CMM identities, where trigonometric Vandermonde products are replaced by theta functions. At the same time Macdonald polynomials are promoted to Shiraishi functions -- distinguished elliptic functions with several interesting avatars, from the non-stationary Ruijsenaars problem in integrable systems, to equivariant K-theory characters of the affine Laumon space in algebraic geometry, to surface defect partition functions in 5d super Yang-Mills theory. From the perspective of matrix models, we present an elliptic matrix model with a superintegrability property. We prove the suggested identities to the first order in the elliptic parameter.

Non-stationary difference equation and affine Laumon space III : Generalization to $\widehat{\mathfrak{gl}}_N$

In a series of papers we have considered a non-stationary difference equation which was originally discovered for the deformed Virasoro conformal block. The equation involves mass parameters and, when they are tuned appropriately, the equation is regarded as a quantum KZ equation for $U_q(A_{1}^{(1)})$. We introduce a $\widehat{\mathfrak{gl}}_N$ generalization of the non-stationary difference equation. The Hamiltonian is expressed in terms of $q$-commuting variables and allows both factorized forms and a normal ordered form. By specializing the mass parameters appropriately, the Hamiltonian can be identified with the $R$-matrix of the symmetric tensor representation of $U_q(A_{N-1}^{(1)})$, which in turn comes from the 3D (tetrahedron) $R$-matrix. We conjecture that the affine Laumon partition function of type $A_{N-1}^{(1)}$ gives a solution to our $\widehat{\mathfrak{gl}}_N$ non-stationary difference equation. As a check of our conjecture, we work out the four dimensional limit and find that the non-stationary difference equation reduces to the Fuji-Suzuki-Tsuda system.

Non-Stationary Difference Equation and Affine Laumon Space II: Quantum Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov Equation

We show that Shakirov's non-stationary difference equation, when it is truncated, implies the quantum Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov ($q$-KZ) equation for $U_{\mathsf v}\bigl(A_1^{(1)}\bigr)$ with generic spins. Namely, we can tune mass parameters so that the Hamiltonian acts on the space of finite Laurent polynomials. Then the representation matrix of the Hamiltonian agrees with the $R$-matrix, or the quantum $6j$ symbols. On the other hand, we prove that the $K$ theoretic Nekrasov partition function from the affine Laumon space is identified with the well-studied Jackson integral solution to the $q$-KZ equation. Combining these results, we establish that the affine Laumon partition function gives a solution to Shakirov's equation, which was a conjecture in our previous paper. We also work out the base-fiber duality and four-dimensional limit in relation with the $q$-KZ equation.

Non-Stationary Difference Equation and Affine Laumon Space: Quantization of Discrete Painlevé Equation

We show the relation of the non-stationary difference equation proposed by one of the authors and the quantized discrete Painlevé VI equation. The five-dimensional Seiberg-Witten curve associated with the difference equation has a consistent four-dimensional limit. We also show that the original equation can be factorized as a coupled system for a pair of functions $\bigl(\mathcal{F}^{(1)},\mathcal{F}^{(2)}\bigr)$, which is a consequence of the identification of the Hamiltonian as a translation element in the extended affine Weyl group. We conjecture that the instanton partition function coming from the affine Laumon space provides a solution to the coupled system.

Non-stationary difference equation for q-Virasoro conformal blocks

Conformal blocks of q,t-deformed Virasoro and W-algebras are important special functions in representation theory with applications in geometry and physics. In the Nekrasov-Shatashvili limit t -> 1, whenever one of the representations is degenerate then conformal block satisfies a difference equation with respect to the coordinate associated with that degenerate representation. This is a stationary Schrodinger equation for an appropriate relativistic quantum integrable system. It is expected that generalization to generic t <> 1 is a non-stationary Schrodinger equation where t parametrizes shift in time. In this paper we make the non-stationary equation explicit for the q,t-Virasoro block with one degenerate and four generic Verma modules, and prove it when three modules out of five are degenerate, using occasional relation to Macdonald polynomials.

Double Inozemtsev Limits of the Quantum DELL System

In this letter we study various Inozemtsev-type limits of the quantum double elliptic (DELL) system when both elliptic parameters are sent to zero at different rates, while the coupling constant is sent to infinity, such that a certain combination of the three parameters is kept fixed. We find a regime in which such double Inozemtsev limit of DELL produces the elliptic Ruijsenaars-Schneider (eRS) Hamiltonians albeit in an unconventional normalization. We discuss other double scaling limits and anisotropic scaling of coordinates and momenta. In addition, we provide a formal expression for the eigenvalues of the eRS Hamiltonians solely in terms of their eigenfunctions.

Harer-Zagier formulas for knot matrix models

Knot matrix models are defined so that the averages of characters are equal to knot polynomials. From this definition one can extract single trace averages and generation functions for them in the group rank - which generalize the celebrated Harer-Zagier formulas for Hermitian matrix model. We describe the outcome of this program for HOMFLY-PT polynomials of various knots. In particular, we claim that the Harer-Zagier formulas for torus knots factorize nicely, but this does not happen for other knots. This fact is mysteriously parallel to existence of explicit beta = 1 eigenvalue model construction for torus knots only, and can be responsible for problems with construction of a similar model for other knots.

Solving q-Virasoro constraints

We show how q-Virasoro constraints can be derived for a large class of (q,t)-deformed eigenvalue matrix models by an elementary trick of inserting certain q-difference operators under the integral, in complete analogy with full-derivative insertions for beta-ensembles. From free-field point of view the models considered have zero momentum of the highest weight, which leads to an extra constraint T_{-1} Z = 0. We then show how to solve these q-Virasoro constraints recursively and comment on the possible applications for gauge theories, for instance calculation of (supersymmetric) Wilson loop averages in gauge theories on D^2 \cross S^1 and S^3.

Quantization of Harer-Zagier formulas

We derive the analogues of the Harer-Zagier formulas for single- and double-trace correlators in the q-deformed Hermitian Gaussian matrix model. This fully describes single-trace correlators and opens a road to $q$-deformations of important matrix models properties, such as genus expansion and Wick theorem.

Argyres-Douglas Theories, Modularity of Minimal Models and Refined Chern-Simons

The Coulomb branch indices of Argyres-Douglas theories on $L(k,1)\times S^{1}$ are recently identified with matrix elements of modular transforms of certain $2d$ vertex operator algebras in a particular limit. A one parameter generalization of the modular transformation matrices of $(2N+3,2)$ minimal models are proposed to compute the full Coulomb branch index of $(A_{1},A_{2N})$ Argyres-Douglas theories on the same space. Morever, M-theory construction of these theories suggests direct connection to the refined Chern-Simons theory. The connection is made precise by showing how the modular transformation matrices of refined Chern-Simons theory are related to the proposed generalized ones for minimal models and the identification of Coulomb branch indices with the partition function of the refined Chern-Simons theory.

The Quantum DELL System

We propose quantum Hamiltonians of the double elliptic many-body integrable system (DELL) and study its spectrum. These Hamiltonians are certain elliptic functions of coordinates and momenta. Our results provide quantization of the classical DELL system which was previously found in the string theory literature. The eigenfunctions for the N-body model are instanton partition functions of 6d SU(N) gauge theory with adjoint matter compactified on a torus with a codimension two defect. As a byproduct we discover new family of symmetric orthogonal polynomials which provide an elliptic generalization to Macdonald polynomials.

Refined Topological Branes

We study the open refined topological string amplitudes using the refined topological vertex. We determine the refinement of holonomies necessary to describe the boundary conditions of open amplitudes (which in particular satisfy the required integrality properties). We also derive the refined holonomies using the refined Chern-Simons theory.

Refined Chern-Simons Theory in Genus Two

Reshetikhin-Turaev (a.k.a. Chern-Simons) TQFT is a functor that associates vector spaces to two-dimensional genus g surfaces and linear operators to automorphisms of surfaces. The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate that there exists a Macdonald q,t-deformation -- refinement -- of these operators that preserves the defining relations of the mapping class groups beyond genus 1. For this we explicitly construct the refined TQFT representation of the genus 2 mapping class group in the case of rank one TQFT. This is a direct generalization of the original genus 1 construction of arXiv:1105.5117, opening a question if it extends to any genus. Our construction is built upon a q,t-deformation of the square of q-6j symbol of U_q(sl_2), which we define using the Macdonald version of Fourier duality. This allows to compute the refined Jones polynomial for arbitrary knots in genus 2. In contrast with genus 1, the refined Jones polynomial in genus 2 does not appear to agree with the Poincare polynomial of the triply graded HOMFLY knot homology.

Orbifolds and Exact Solutions of Strongly-Coupled Matrix Models

We find an exact solution to strongly-coupled matrix models with a single-trace monomial potential. Our solution yields closed form expressions for the partition function as well as averages of Schur functions. The results are fully factorized into a product of terms linear in the rank of the matrix and the parameters of the model. We extend our formulas to include both logarthmic and finite-difference deformations, thereby generalizing the celebrated Selberg and Kadell integrals. We conjecture a formula for correlators of two Schur functions in these models, and explain how our results follow from a general orbifold-like procedure that can be applied to any one-matrix model with a single-trace potential.

Gauge/Vortex duality and AGT

This is the 12th article in the collection of reviews "Exact results on N=2 supersymmetric gauge theories" ed. J. Teschner. This article describes one way to understand an important part of the AGT-correspondence in terms of a triality between four-dimensional gauge theory, the two-dimensional theory of its vortices, and conformal field theory. This triality is related to, and inspired by known large $N$ dualities of the topological string. It leads to a proof of some cases of the AGT-correspondence, and most importantly, of a generalisation of this correspondence to certain five-dimensional gauge theories.

$A_n$-Triality

A_n-type AGT correspondence anticipates that conformal blocks of A_n Toda CFT are related to partition functions of a family of 4d N=2 SCFTs. We use gauge/vortex duality to both give a precise form of the correspondence, and to prove it. Gauge/vortex duality relates the 4d theories and the 2d theories living on its vortices. Partition functions of the 2d theories on vortices provide Coulomb-gas representation of A_n Toda conformal blocks with discrete internal momenta. This gives a triality of relations between the gauge theory, its vortices and the Toda CFT. We prove that A_n triality holds for conformal blocks of A_n Toda on a sphere with all full punctures. The lift to one higher dimensional theories, compactified on a circle of arbitrary radius, and q-deformation of the Toda CFT, play a key role.

Gauge/Liouville Triality

Conformal blocks of Liouville theory have a Coulomb-gas representation as Dotsenko-Fateev (DF) integrals over the positions of screening charges. For q-deformed Liouville, the conformal blocks on a sphere with an arbitrary number of punctures are manifestly the same, when written in DF representation, as the partition functions of a class of 3d U(N) gauge theories with N=2 supersymmetry, in the Omega-background. Coupling the 3d gauge theory to a flavor in fundamental representation corresponds to inserting a Liouville vertex operator; the two real mass parameters determine the momentum and position of the puncture. The DF integrals can be computed by residues. The result is the instanton sum of a five dimensional N=1 gauge theory. The positions of the poles are labeled by tuples of partitions, the residues of the integrand are the Nekrasov summands.

Observables of Macdonald processes

We present a framework for computing averages of various observables of Macdonald processes. This leads to new contour--integral formulas for averages of a large class of multilevel observables, as well as Fredholm determinants for averages of two different single level observables.
