Chirped-pulse engineering for robust control of single-molecule orientation in a cavity

We present a theoretical investigation of coherent control over the orientation of an individual molecule strongly coupled with a cavity using chirped-pulse driving. Specifically, we explore the dynamics of carbonyl sulfide (OCS) molecules under the influence of two chirped pulses with different spectral phases. We compare two pulse configurations: one with equal chirp rates ($\beta_{+} = \beta_{-}$) and another with unequal chirp rates ($\beta_{+} \neq \beta_{-}$). Numerical simulations reveal that chirped pulses enable precise control of the molecular orientation, achieving a maximum orientation degree of 0.5773. By analyzing the distribution of molecular polariton states, we show that chirped pulses can activate multiphoton processes, leading to deviations from the predictions of first-order Magnus expansion methods. Additionally, we demonstrate the robustness of the maximum orientation with respect to chirp amplitude and detuning, providing insights into the role of pulse parameters in optimizing control. This work introduces a new strategy for controlling molecular orientation in cavity-based systems and offers valuable perspectives for future experimental applications.

GMFlow: Global Motion-Guided Recurrent Flow for 6D Object Pose Estimation

6D object pose estimation is crucial for robotic perception and precise manipulation. Occlusion and incomplete object visibility are common challenges in this task, but existing pose refinement methods often struggle to handle these issues effectively. To tackle this problem, we propose a global motion-guided recurrent flow estimation method called GMFlow for pose estimation. GMFlow overcomes local ambiguities caused by occlusion or missing parts by seeking global explanations. We leverage the object's structural information to extend the motion of visible parts of the rigid body to its invisible regions. Specifically, we capture global contextual information through a linear attention mechanism and guide local motion information to generate global motion estimates. Furthermore, we introduce object shape constraints in the flow iteration process, making flow estimation suitable for pose estimation scenarios. Experiments on the LM-O and YCB-V datasets demonstrate that our method outperforms existing techniques in accuracy while maintaining competitive computational efficiency.

Arbitrary State Transition of Open Qubit System Based on Switching Control

We present a switching control strategy based on Lyapunov control for arbitrary state transitions in open qubit systems. With coherent vector representation, we propose a switching control strategy, which can prevent the state of the qubit from entering invariant sets and singular value sets, effectively driving the system ultimately to a sufficiently small neighborhood of target states. In comparison to existing works, this control strategy relaxes the strict constraints on system models imposed by special target states. Furthermore, we identify conditions under which the open qubit system achieves finite-time stability (FTS) and finite-time contractive stability (FTCS), respectively. This represents a critical improvement in quantum state transitions, especially considering the asymptotic stability of arbitrary target states is unattainable in open quantum systems. The effectiveness of our proposed method is convincingly demonstrated through its application in a qubit system affected by various types of decoherence, including amplitude, dephasing and polarization decoherence.

Numerical detection of Gaussian entanglement and its application to the identification of bound entangled Gaussian states

We present a numerical method for solving the separability problem of Gaussian quantum states in continuous-variable quantum systems. We show that the separability problem can be cast as an equivalent problem of determining the feasibility of a set of linear matrix inequalities. Thus, it can be efficiently solved using existent numerical solvers. We apply this method to the identification of bound entangled Gaussian states. We show that the proposed method can be used to identify bound entangled Gaussian states that could be simple enough to be producible in quantum optics.

Preparation of bipartite bound entangled Gaussian states in quantum optics

The positivity of the partial transpose is in general only a necessary condition for separability. There exist quantum states that are not separable, but nevertheless are positive under partial transpose. States of this type are known as bound entangled states meaning that these states are entangled but they do not allow distillation of pure entanglement by means of local operations and classical communication (LOCC). We present a parametrization of a class of $2\times 2$ bound entangled Gaussian states for bipartite continuous-variable quantum systems with two modes on each side. We propose an experimental protocol for preparing a particular bound entangled state in quantum optics. We then discuss the robustness properties of this protocol with respect to the occupation number of thermal inputs and the degrees of squeezing.

A Derivation of Moment Evolution Equations for Linear Open Quantum Systems

Given a linear open quantum system which is described by a Lindblad master equation, we detail the calculation of the moment evolution equations from this master equation. We stress that the moment evolution equations are well-known, but their explicit derivation from the master equation cannot be found in the literature to the best of our knowledge, and so we provide this derivation for the interested reader.

Linear quantum systems with diagonal passive Hamiltonian and a single dissipative channel

Given any covariance matrix corresponding to a so-called pure Gaussian state, a linear quantum system can be designed to achieve the assigned covariance matrix. In most cases, however, one might obtain a system that is difficult to realize in practice. In this paper, we restrict our attention to a special class of linear quantum systems, i.e., systems with diagonal passive Hamiltonian and a single dissipative channel. The practical implementation of such a system would be relatively simple. We then parametrize the class of pure Gaussian state covariance matrices that can be achieved by this particular type of linear quantum system.

Pure Gaussian states from quantum harmonic oscillator chains with a single local dissipative process

We study the preparation of entangled pure Gaussian states via reservoir engineering. In particular, we consider a chain consisting of $(2\aleph+1)$ quantum harmonic oscillators where the central oscillator of the chain is coupled to a single reservoir. We then completely parametrize the class of $(2\aleph+1)$-mode pure Gaussian states that can be prepared by this type of quantum harmonic oscillator chain. This parametrization allows us to determine the steady-state entanglement properties of such quantum harmonic oscillator chains.

Cascade and locally dissipative realizations of linear quantum systems for pure Gaussian state covariance assignment

This paper presents two realizations of linear quantum systems for covariance assignment corresponding to pure Gaussian states. The first one is called a cascade realization; given any covariance matrix corresponding to a pure Gaussian state, we can construct a cascaded quantum system generating that state. The second one is called a locally dissipative realization; given a covariance matrix corresponding to a pure Gaussian state, if it satisfies certain conditions, we can construct a linear quantum system that has only local interactions with its environment and achieves the assigned covariance matrix. Both realizations are illustrated by examples from quantum optics.

Preparation of Pure Gaussian States via Cascaded Quantum Systems

This paper provides an alternative approach to the problem of preparing pure Gaussian states in a linear quantum system. It is shown that any pure Gaussian state can be generated by a cascade of one-dimensional open quantum harmonic oscillators, without any direct interaction Hamiltonians between these oscillators. This is physically advantageous from an experimental point of view. An example on the preparation of two-mode squeezed states is given to illustrate the theory.

Robust Decentralized Stabilization of Markovian Jump Large-Scale Systems: A Neighboring Mode Dependent Control Approach

This paper is concerned with the decentralized stabilization problem for a class of uncertain large-scale systems with Markovian jump parameters. The controllers use local subsystem states and neighboring mode information to generate local control inputs. A sufficient condition involving rank constrained linear matrix inequalities is proposed for the design of such controllers. A numerical example is given to illustrate the developed theory.
