A Drift Stable Quantum Federated Learning for Intelligent Services

Quantum federated learning enables distributed clients to train quantum neural networks without sharing local data, making it promising for privacy-aware intelligent services. Intelligent services in this context refer to privacy-sensitive distributed decision systems, such as fraud detection and genomic classification, where reliable and fair client-level learning is as important as the accuracy of the aggregate model. However, heterogeneous client data and noisy quantum optimization often cause unstable local updates, client drift, and unfair performance between clients. This paper proposes DUQFL-Prox, a drift-stable quantum federated learning framework based on deep-unfolded local optimization. Instead of using a fixed local optimizer, each client performs adaptive unfolded SPSA updates, while a proximal term keeps the local model close to the global model. A lightweight controller learns step-specific optimization parameters to improve post-aggregation performance. Experiments on financial fraud and genomic classification tasks show that DUQFL-Prox improves stability, generalization, and client fairness compared with standard QFL baselines. The results suggest that deep-unfolded quantum federated learning can support more reliable and fair intelligent services in heterogeneous distributed environments.

DeepUnfolding_Agent: A Classical_Quantum Adaptive Control API

Adaptive optimization workflows in machine learning, federated learning, quantum machine learning, and hybrid classical quantum systems often embed controller logic directly inside task specific training scripts. This coupling limits reuse, reproducibility, safety validation, and fair comparison across execution environments. This paper presents DeepUnfolding Agent, a schema-driven FastAPI platform that exposes deep unfolded adaptive control as an external software service. External executors register a strategy schema, submit round-level diagnostic variables, receive schema-bounded control actions, execute one optimization round, and return feedback for controller update. The framework separates controller intelligence from domain specific execution through a strategy registry, diagnostic to state adapter, controller factory, safety guard, executor abstraction, feedback update path, SQLite persistence layer, Docker deployment, and reproducible benchmark scripts. The implementation supports classical, quantum-aware, hybrid, Qiskit Aer, and optional IBM quantum processing execution pathways. We validate the software through unit, schema, API, safety, orchestration, Quantum execution, checkpointing, and Docker tests, and demonstrate external user fixed versus adaptive workflows across finance, healthcare, genomics, transport, noisy quantum simulation, and hardware backed IBM Quantum execution. The results show that DeepUnfolding-Agent provides a reusable and traceable adaptive control layer for heterogeneous optimization workflows. Our quantum experiments are interpreted as API level quantum control and hardware portability evidence.

HantaWatch: Federated Learning for Hantavirus Genomic Surveillance

Hantavirus genomic surveillance is limited by the distribution of sequence data, non-IID source heterogeneity, and constrained expert-review capacity. We propose HantaWatch, a federated learning framework that enables laboratories and surveillance sites to collaboratively train sequence-based models without sharing raw data. HantaWatch integrates k-mer feature extraction, source-aware federated client construction, adaptive DU-FedProx optimization, surveillance-specific model selection, and prediction-only triage. Experiments on binary and multi-class tasks show that HantaWatch supports high-risk screening, outbreak-associated prediction, clade classification, and clinical-syndrome categorization while balancing predictive performance, false-negative risk, and update stability. The framework converts model output into risk scores, confidence estimates, uncertainty flags, and ranked expert-review priorities. HantaWatch therefore provides a practical federated decision-support layer for decentralized Hantavirus surveillance, supporting expert prioritization without replacing laboratory or public-health interpretation.

New Insights on Unfolding and Fine-tuning Quantum Federated Learning

Client heterogeneity poses significant challenges to the performance of Quantum Federated Learning (QFL). To overcome these limitations, we propose a new approach leveraging deep unfolding, which enables clients to autonomously optimize hyperparameters, such as learning rates and regularization factors, based on their specific training behavior. This dynamic adaptation mitigates overfitting and ensures robust optimization in highly heterogeneous environments where standard aggregation methods often fail. Our framework achieves approximately 90% accuracy, significantly outperforming traditional methods, which typically yield around 55% accuracy, as demonstrated through real-time training on IBM quantum hardware and Qiskit Aer simulators. By developing self adaptive fine tuning, the proposed method proves particularly effective in critical applications such as gene expression analysis and cancer detection, enhancing diagnostic precision and predictive modeling within quantum systems. Our results are attributed to convergence-aware, learnable optimization steps intrinsic to the deep unfolded framework, which maintains the generalization. Hence, this study addresses the core limitations of conventional QFL, streamlining its applicability to any complex challenges such as healthcare and genomic research.
