A potentialization algorithm for games with applications to multi-agent learning in repeated games

We investigate an algorithm that assigns to any game in normal form an approximating game that admits an ordinal potential function. Due to the properties of potential games, the algorithm equips every game with a surrogate reward structure that allows efficient multi-agent learning. Numerical simulations using the replicator dynamics show that 'potentialization' guarantees convergence to stable agent behavior.

LLMs Simulate Big Five Personality Traits: Further Evidence

An empirical investigation into the simulation of the Big Five personality traits by large language models (LLMs), namely Llama2, GPT4, and Mixtral, is presented. We analyze the personality traits simulated by these models and their stability. This contributes to the broader understanding of the capabilities of LLMs to simulate personality traits and the respective implications for personalized human-computer interaction.

Probability, valuations, hyperspace: Three monads on Top and the support as a morphism

We consider three monads on Top, the category of topological spaces, which formalize topological aspects of probability and possibility in categorical terms. The first one is the Hoare hyperspace monad H, which assigns to every space its space of closed subsets equipped with the lower Vietoris topology. The second is the monad V of continuous valuations, also known as the extended probabilistic powerdomain. We construct both monads in a unified way in terms of double dualization. This reveals a close analogy between them, and allows us to prove that the operation of taking the support of a continuous valuation is a morphism of monads from V to H. In particular, this implies that every H-algebra (topological complete semilattice) is also a V-algebra. Third, we show that V can be restricted to a submonad of tau-smooth probability measures on Top. By composing these two morphisms of monads, we obtain that taking the support of a tau-smooth probability measure is also a morphism of monads.

Partially observable systems and quotient entropy via graphs

We consider the category of partially observable dynamical systems, to which the entropy theory of dynamical systems extends functorially. This leads us to introduce quotient-topological entropy. We discuss the structure that emerges. We show how quotient entropy can be explicitly computed by symbolic coding. To do so, we make use of the relationship between the category of dynamical systems and the category of graphs, a connection mediated by Markov partitions and topological Markov chains.

Elephants, Donkeys, and Colonel Blotto

This paper employs a novel method for the empirical analysis of political discourse and develops a model that demonstrates dynamics comparable with the empirical data. Applying a set of binary text classifiers based on convolutional neural networks, we label statements in the political programs of the Democratic and the Republican Party in the United States. Extending the framework of the Colonel Blotto game by a stochastic activation structure, we show that, under a simple learning rule, the simulated game exhibits dynamics that resemble the empirical data.
