We Define moments of partitions of integers, and show that they appear in higher order derivatives of certain combinations of functions.
We prove a seesaw identity for theta functions with polynomials, and establish a formula for the corresponding theta contractions. We then use it to determine the restrictions of theta lifts to sub-Grassmannians, with some applications.
We show how to realize the Shimura lift of arbitrary level and character using the vector-valued theta lifts of Borcherds. Using the regularization of Borcherds' lift we extend the Shimura lift to take weakly holomorphic modular forms of half-integral weight to meromorphic modular forms of even integral weight having poles at CM points.
We prove a closed formula for the derivative, of any order, of a implicit function, in terms of some binomial building blocks, and explain the combinatorics behind the coefficients appearing in the formula.
In this paper we prove a Thomae derivative formula for trigonal curves admitting a non-singular affine model. This formula relates the derivatives of theta functions with rational characteristics on the curve to explicit expressions in the branching values.
We show how the multiplicative structure on Pythagorean triples defined by Beauregard--Suryanarayan arises from automorphisms of the hyperbolic plane, and how the structure theorem of this product follow naturally from this connection. We also show how the natural involution on Pythagorean triples is related to Pell's equation with the parameter 2, and prove a generalization of this phenomenon.
We determine the detailed structure of parabolic subgroups of orthogonal groups over $\mathbb{Z}$, and deduce the precise form of canonical boundary components in toroidal compactifications of orthogonal Shimura varieties.
Abelian covers of $\mathbb{CP}^{1}$, with fixed Galois group $A$, are classified, as a first step, by a discrete set of parameters. Any such cover $X$, of genus $g\geq1$ say, carries a finite set of $A$-invariant divisors of degree $g-1$ on $X$ that produce non-zero theta constants on $X$. We show how to define a quotient involving a power of the theta constant on $X$ that is associated with such a divisor $Δ$, some polynomial in the branching values, and a fixed determinant on $X$ that does not depend on $Δ$, such that the quotient is constant on the moduli space of $A$-covers with the given discrete parameters. This generalizes the classical formula of Thomae, as well as all of its known extensions by various authors.
We evaluate 35 different theta derivatives with rational characteristics using the method of Matsuda, in which the logarithmic derivatives at $z=0$ of the triple product expansions of the associated theta functions become linear combinations of known theta series of weight 1.
Let $f:X \to S$ be a Galois cover of Riemann surfaces, with Galois group $G$. In this paper we analyze the $G$-invariant divisors on $X$, and their associated spaces of meromorphic functions, differentials, and $q$-differentials. We generalize the trace formula for non-trivial elements of $G$ on $q$-differentials, as well as the Chevalley--Weil Formula. When $G$ is Abelian or when the genus of $S$ is 0 we prove additional results, and we also determine the non-special $G$-invariant divisors when both conditions are satisfied.
We investigate the various types of weight raising and weight lowering operators on quasi-modular forms, or equivalently on Shimura's vector-valued modular forms involving symmetric power representations. We also present all the eigenfunctions of the two possible Laplacian operators.
We show that the meromorphic modular forms recently considered by Bringmann and Kane can be obtained as images of regularized theta lifts of Poincaré series under weight raising operators. We use this fact in order to simplify the evaluation of the regularized pairing, also defined by Bringmann and Kane, of these functions with other meromorphic modular forms.
We present an approach to generalized Riordan arrays which is based on operations in one large group of lower triangular matrices. This allows for direct proofs of many properties of weighted Sheffer sequences, and shows that all the groups arising from different weights are isomorphic since they are conjugate. We also prove a result about the intersection of two generalized Riordan with different weights.
We determine the normalizer in $SL_{2}(\mathbb{R})$ of several families of congruence subgroups of $SL_{2}(\mathbb{Z})$. In addition, we show how these tools can be used to evaluate the groups of automorphisms and the discriminant kernels of a large family of isotropic lattices of signature (2,1).
We extend the relation between quasi-modular forms and modular forms to a wider class of functions. We then relate both forms to vector-valued modular forms with symmetric power representations, and prove a general structure theorem for these vector-valued forms.
We show how to obtain the difference function of the Weierstrass Zeta function very directly, by choosing an appropriate order of summation for the series defining this function. As a byproduct, we show how to obtain the quasi-modularity of the weight 2 Eisenstein series immediately from the fact that it appears in this difference function and the homogeneity properties of the latter.
We generalize the elementary methods presented in several examples in the book \cite{[FZ]} to obtain the Thomae formulae for general fully ramified $Z_{n}$ curves.
Suppose that $M$ is an even lattice with dual $M^{*}$ and level $N$. Then the group $Mp_{2}(\mathbb{Z})$, which is the unique non-trivial double cover of $SL_{2}(\mathbb{Z})$, admits a representation $ρ_{M}$, called the Weil representation, on the space $\mathbb{C}[M^{*}/M]$. The main aim of this paper is to show how the formulae for the $ρ_{M}$-action of a general element of $Mp_{2}(\mathbb{Z})$ can be obtained by a direct evaluation which does not depend on ``external objects'' such as theta functions. We decompose the Weil representation $ρ_{M}$ into $p$-parts, in which each $p$-part can be seen as subspace of the Schwartz functions on the $p$-adic vector space $M_{\mathbb{Q}_{p}}$. Then we consider the Weil representation of $Mp_{2}(\mathbb{Q}_{p})$ on the space of Schwartz functions on $M_{\mathbb{Q}_{p}}$, and see that restricting to $Mp_{2}(\mathbb{Z})$ just gives the $p$-part of $ρ_{M}$ again. The operators attained by the Weil representation are not always those appearing in the formulae from 1964, but are rather their multiples by certain roots of unity. For this, one has to find which pair of elements, lying over a matrix in $SL_{2}(\mathbb{Q}_{p})$, belong to the metaplectic double cover. Some other properties are also investigated.
