Consequences of the Production of Very Massive Magnetically Charged Leptons Early in the Universe and Their Decays to a New Set of Extremely Massive Neutrinos

We examine the production and decay of extremely heavy magnetically charged leptons, (tau_g and mu_g), to their own very heavy mu_g and e_g plus their own new species of neutrinos, nu_g and nubar_g, at some time early in the universe which could be present in space and, attracted gravitationally towards and passing through astronomical objects, annihilated with each other to produce large numbers of photons. Further, we describe the possibility of presently detecting the bursts of such photons, of three different total energies, in the seas or oceans on earth.

Searching for the Quark-Gluon Plasma

The claims for production of high energy densities and possible new states of matter in collisions of nuclei by George F. Bertsch (Science, {\bf 265} (1994) 480-481) are examined and compared with simple explanations of the data which have appeared in the literature.

Extracting Nuclear Transparency from p-A Cross sections

We study nuclear structure effects on the transparency in high transverse momentum $(p,2p)$ and $(e,e'p)$ reactions. We show that in the DWIA-eikonal approximation, even when correlations are included, one can get a factorized expression for the transparency. This depends only on the average nucleon density $ρ(r)$ and a correlation function. We develop a technique to include correlations in a Monte-Carlo Glauber type calculation. We compare calculations of $T$ using the eikonal formalism and a continuous density, with a Monte Carlo method based on discrete nucleons.
