Hyperelliptic Solutions of Modified Korteweg-de Vries Equation of Genus g: Essentials of Miura Transformation

Explicit hyperelliptic solutions of the modified Korteweg-de Vries equations without any ambiguous parameters were constructed in terms only of the hyperelliptic $\al$-functions over non-degenerated hyperelliptic curve $y^2 = f(x)$ of arbitrary genus $g$. In the derivation, any $θ$-functions or Baker-Akhiezer functions were not essentially used. Then the Miura transformation naturally appears as the connections between the hyperelliptic $\wp$-functions and hyperelliptic $\al$-functions.

Hyperelliptic Loop Solitons with Genus g: Investigations of a Quantized Elastica

In the previous work (J. Geom. Phys. {\bf{39}} (2001) 50-61), the closed loop solitons in a plane, \it i.e., loops whose curvatures obey the modified Korteweg-de Vries equations, were investigated for the case related to algebraic curves with genera one and two. This article is a generalization of the previous article to those of hyperelliptic curves with general genera. It was proved that the tangential angle of loop soliton is expressed by the Weierstrass hyperelliptic al function for a given hyperelliptic curve $y^2 = f(x)$ with genus $g$.

Hyperelliptic Solutions of KdV and KP equations: Reevaluation of Baker's Study on Hyperelliptic Sigma Functions

Explicit function forms of hyperelliptic solutions of Korteweg-de Vries (KdV) and \break Kadomtsev-Petviashvili (KP) equations were constructed for a given curve $y^2 = f(x)$ whose genus is three. This study was based upon the fact that about one hundred years ago (Acta Math. (1903) {\bf{27}}, 135-156), H. F. Baker essentially derived KdV hierarchy and KP equation by using bilinear differential operator ${\bold{D}}$, identities of Pfaffians, symmetric functions, hyperelliptic $σ$-function and $\wp$-functions; $\wp_{μν} = -\partial_μ\partial_ν\log σ$ $= - ({\bold{D}}_μ{\bold{D}}_νσσ)/2σ^2$. The connection between his theory and the modern soliton theory was also discussed.

Lotka-Volterra Equation over a Finite Ring Z/p^N Z

Discrete Lotka-Volterra equation over $p$-adic space was constructed since $p$-adic space is a prototype of spaces with the non-Archimedean valuations and the space given by taking ultra-discrete limit studied in soliton theory should be regarded as a space with the non-Archimedean valuations in the previous report (solv-int/9906011). In this article, using the natural projection from $p$-adic integer to a ring $Z/p^n Z$, a soliton equation is defined over the ring. Numerical computations shows that it behaves regularly.

Submanifold Differential Operators in $\Cal D$-Module Theory I : Schrödinger Operators

For this quarter of century, differential operators in a lower dimensional submanifold embedded or immersed in real $n$-dimensional euclidean space $\EE^n$ have been studied as quantum mechanical models, which are realized as restriction of the operators in $\EE^n$ to the submanifold. For this decade, the Dirac operators in the submanifold have been investigated in such a scheme , which are identified with operators of the Frenet-Serret relation for a space curve case and of the generalized Weierstrass relation for a conformal surface case. These Dirac operators are concerned well in the differential geometry, since they completely represent the submanifolds. In this and a future series of articles, we will give mathematical construction of the differential operators on a submanifold in $\EE^n$ in terms of $\DMod$-module theory and rewrite recent results of the Dirac operators mathematically. In this article, we will formulate Schrödinger operators in a low-dimensional submanifold in $\EE^n$.

Submanifold Differential Operators in $\Cal D$-Module Theory II: Generalized Weierstrass and Frenet-Serret Relations as Dirac Equations

This article is one of a series of papers. For this decade, the Dirac operator on a submanifold has been studied as a restriction of the Dirac operator in $n$-dimensional euclidean space $\EE^n$ to a surface or a space curve as physical models. These Dirac operators are identified with operators of the Frenet-Serret relation for a space curve case and of the generalized Weierstrass relation for a conformal surface case and completely represent the submanifolds. For example, the analytic index of Dirac operator of a space curve is identified with its writhing number. As another example, the operator determinants of the Dirac operators are closely related to invariances of the immersed objects, such as Euler-Bernoulli and Willmore functionals for a space curve and a conformal surface respectively. In this article, we will give mathematical construction of the Dirac operator by means of $\Cal D$-module and reformulate my recent results mathematically.

Statistical Mechanics of Non-stretching Elastica in Three Dimensional Space

Recently I proposed a new calculation scheme of a partition function of an immersion object using path integral method and theory of soliton (to appear in J.Phys.A). I applied the scheme to problem of elastica in two-dimensional space and Willmore surface in three dimensional space. In this article, I will apply the scheme to elastica in three dimensional space as a more physical model in polymer science. Then orbit space of the nonlinear Schrodinger and complex modified Korteweg-de Vries equations can be regarded as the functional space of the partition function. By investigation of the partition function, I gives a conjecture of the relation of these soliton equations.

Dirac Operator of a Conformal Surface Immersed in R^4: Further Generalized Weierstrass Relation

In the previous report (J. Phys. A (1997) 30 4019-4029), I showed that the Dirac operator defined over a conformal surface immersed in R^3 is identified with the Dirac operator which is generalized the Weierstrass- Enneper equation and Lax operator of the modified Novikov-Veselov (MNV) equation. In this article, I determine the Dirac operator defined over a conformal surface immersed in R^4, which is reduced to the Lax operators of the nonlinear Schrodinger and the MNV equations by taking appropriate limits. Thus the Dirac operator might be the Lax operator of (2+1)- dimensional soliton equation.

On Density of State of Quantized Willmore Surface-A Way to Quantized Extrinsic String in R^3

Recently I quantized an elastica with Bernoulli-Euler functional in two-dimensional space using the modified KdV hierarchy. In this article, I will quantize a Willmore surface, or equivalently a surface with the Polyakov extrinsic curvature action, using the modified Novikov-Veselov (MNV) equation. In other words, I show that the density of state of the partition function for the quantized Willmore surface is expressed by volume of a subspace of the moduli of the MNV equation.

Immersion Anomaly of Dirac Operator on Surface in R^3

In previous report (J. Phys. A (1997) 30 4019-4029), I showed that the Dirac field confined in a surface immersed in $R^3$ by means of a mass type potential is governed by the Konopelchenko-Kenmotsu-Weierstrass-Enneper equation. In this article, I quantized the Dirac field and calculated the gauge transformation which exhibits the gauge freedom of the parameterization of the surface. Then using the Ward-Takahashi identity, I showed that the expectation value of the action of the Dirac field is expressed by the Willmore functional and area of the surface.

Quantum Coupled Nonlinear Schrödinger System with Different Masses

In this letter, I have considered one-dimensional quantum system with different masses $m$ and $M$, which does not appear integrable in general. However I have found an exact two-body wave function and due to the extension of the integrable system to more general system, it was concluded that the rapidity or quasi-momentum in the integrable system should be regarded as a modification of velocity rather than that of momentum. I have also considered the three-body wave function and argued its integrable condition.

Statistical Mechanics of Elastica on Plane as a Model of Supercoiled DNA-Origin of the MKdV hierarchy-

In this article, I have investigated statistical mechanics of a non-stretched elastica in two dimensional space using path integral method. In the calculation, the MKdV hierarchy naturally appeared as the equations including the temperature fluctuation.I have classified the moduli of the closed elastica in heat bath and summed the Boltzmann weight with the thermalfluctuation over the moduli. Due to the bilinearity of the energy functional,I have obtained its exact partition function.By investigation of the system,I conjectured that an expectation value at a critical point of this system obeys the Painlevé equation of the first kind and its related equations extended by the KdV hierarchy.Furthermore I also commented onthe relation between the MKdV hierarchy and BRS transformationin this system.
