Exploring Modality-Aware Fusion and Decoupled Temporal Propagation for Multi-Modal Object Tracking

Most existing multimodal trackers adopt uniform fusion strategies, overlooking the inherent differences between modalities. Moreover, they propagate temporal information through mixed tokens, leading to entangled and less discriminative temporal representations. To address these limitations, we propose MDTrack, a novel framework for modality aware fusion and decoupled temporal propagation in multimodal object tracking. Specifically, for modality aware fusion, we allocate dedicated experts to each modality, including infrared, event, depth, and RGB, to process their respective representations. The gating mechanism within the Mixture of Experts dynamically selects the optimal experts based on the input features, enabling adaptive and modality specific fusion. For decoupled temporal propagation, we introduce two separate State Space Model structures to independently store and update the hidden states of the RGB and X modal streams, effectively capturing their distinct temporal information. To ensure synergy between the two temporal representations, we incorporate a set of cross attention modules between the input features of the two SSMs, facilitating implicit information exchange. The resulting temporally enriched features are then integrated into the backbone through another set of cross attention modules, enhancing MDTrack's ability to leverage temporal information. Extensive experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed method. Both MDTrack S and MDTrack U achieve state of the art performance across five multimodal tracking benchmarks.

Multi-State Tracker: Enhancing Efficient Object Tracking via Multi-State Specialization and Interaction

Efficient trackers achieve faster runtime by reducing computational complexity and model parameters. However, this efficiency often compromises the expense of weakened feature representation capacity, thus limiting their ability to accurately capture target states using single-layer features. To overcome this limitation, we propose Multi-State Tracker (MST), which utilizes highly lightweight state-specific enhancement (SSE) to perform specialized enhancement on multi-state features produced by multi-state generation (MSG) and aggregates them in an interactive and adaptive manner using cross-state interaction (CSI). This design greatly enhances feature representation while incurring minimal computational overhead, leading to improved tracking robustness in complex environments. Specifically, the MSG generates multiple state representations at multiple stages during feature extraction, while SSE refines them to highlight target-specific features. The CSI module facilitates information exchange between these states and ensures the integration of complementary features. Notably, the introduced SSE and CSI modules adopt a highly lightweight hidden state adaptation-based state space duality (HSA-SSD) design, incurring only 0.1 GFLOPs in computation and 0.66 M in parameters. Experimental results demonstrate that MST outperforms all previous efficient trackers across multiple datasets, significantly improving tracking accuracy and robustness. In particular, it shows excellent runtime performance, with an AO score improvement of 4.5\% over the previous SOTA efficient tracker HCAT on the GOT-10K dataset. The code is available at https://github.com/wsumel/MST.

Cascade of phase transitions and large magnetic anisotropy in a triangle-kagome-triangle trilayer antiferromagnet

Spins in strongly frustrated systems are of intense interest due to the emergence of intriguing quantum states including superconductivity and quantum spin liquid. Herein we report the discovery of cascade of phase transitions and large magnetic anisotropy in the averievite CsClCu5P2O10 single crystals. Under zero field, CsClCu5P2O10 undergoes a first-order structural transition at around 225 K from high temperature centrosymmetric P-3m1 to low temperature noncentrosymmetric P321, followed by an AFM transition at 13.6 K, another structural transition centering at ~3 K, and another AFM transition at ~2.18 K. Based upon magnetic susceptibility and magnetization data with magnetic fields perpendicular to the ab plane, a phase diagram, consisting of a paramagnetic state, two AFM states and four field-induced states including two magnetization plateaus, has been constructed. Our findings demonstrate that the quasi-2D CsClCu5P2O10 exhibits rich structural and metamagnetic transitions and the averievite family is a fertile platform for exploring novel quantum states.

Design and synthesis of three-dimensional hybrid Ruddlesden-Popper nickelate single crystals

Advancement of technologies relies on discovery of new materials with emerging physical properties that are determined by their crystal structures. Ruddlesden-Popper (R-P) phases with formula of $A_{n+1}$$B_n$$X_{3n+1}$ (n=1,2,3...) are among one of the most widely studied class of materials due to their electrical, optical, magnetic, thermal properties and their combined multifunctional properties(Ref.1-6). In R-P phases, intergrowth is well-known in the short range(Ref.7-9); however, no existing compounds have been reported to have different n mixed in bulk single crystals. Here we design a hybrid R-P nickelate $La_2NiO_4$$La_3Ni_2O_7$ by alternatively stacking bilayers, which is the active structural motif in the newly discovery high-$T_c$ superconductor $La_3Ni_2O_7$ and single layers of the antiferromagnetic insulator $La_2NiO_4$. We report the successful synthesis of $La_2NiO_4$$La_3Ni_2O_7$ single crystals, and X-ray diffraction and real-space imaging vis STEM show that the crystal structure consists of single layers and bilayers of $NiO_6$ octahedral stacking alternatively perpendicular to the ab plane, characterized by the orthorhombic Immm (No.71) space group. Resistivity measurements indicate a peculiar insulator-to-metal transition around 140 K on cooling. Correlated density functional theory calculations corroborate this finding, and reveal that the single layer becomes paramagnetic metallic due to charge transfer via LaO layers. The discovery of $La_2NiO_4$$La_3Ni_2O_7$ opens a door to access a completely new family of 3D hybrid R-P phases with the formula of $A_{n+1}$$B_n$$X_{3n+1}$$A'_{m+1}$$B'_m$$X'_{3m+1}$ which potentially host a plethora of emerging physical properties for various applications.

Variation between Antiferromagnetism and Ferrimagnetism in NiPS3 by Electron Doping

How to electrically control magnetic properties of a magnetic material is promising towards spintronic applications, where the investigation of carrier doping effects on antiferromagnetic (AFM) materials remains challenging due to their zero net magnetization. In this work, we found electron doping dependent variation of magnetic orders of a two-dimensional (2D) AFM insulator NiPS3, where doping concentration is tuned by intercalating various organic cations into the van der Waals gaps of NiPS3 without introduction of defects and impurity phases. The doped NiPS3 shows an AFM-ferrimagnetic (FIM) transition at doping level of 0.2-0.5 electrons/cell and a FIM-AFM transition at doping level of >= 0.6 electrons/cell. We propose that the found phenomenon is due to competition between Stoner exchange dominated inter-chain ferromagnetic order and super-exchange dominated inter-chain AFM order at different doping level. Our studies provide a viable way to exploit correlation between electronic structures and magnetic properties of 2D magnetic materials for realization of magnetoelectric effect.

Dynamical Trading Mechanism in Limit Order Markets

This work's purpose is to understand the dynamics of limit order books in order-driven markets. We try to illustrate a dynamical trading mechanism attached to the microstructure of limit order markets. We capture the iterative nature of trading processes, which is critical in the dynamics of bid-ask pairs and the switching laws between different traders' types and their orders. In general, after introducing the atomic trading scheme, we study a general iterated trading process in both combinatorial and stochastic ways, and state a few results on the stability of a dynamical trading system. We also study the controlled dynamics of the spread and the mid-price in an iterated trading system, when their movements, generated from the dynamics of bid-ask pairs, are assumed to be restricted within some extremely small ranges.
