Baryon interactions from lattice QCD with physical masses ---S=-3 sector: XiSigma and XiLambda-XiSigma---

We present lattice QCD results of baryon-baryon potentials in S=-3 sector, i.e., ΞΣ(I=3/2) potentials and ΞΛ-ΞΣcoupled channel potentials (I=1/2) by using the 2+1 flavor gauge configurations with almost the physical quark masses generated on 96^4 lattice with 1/a \simeq 2.3 GeV and L = 96a \simeq 8.1 fm where m_pi \simeq 146 MeV and m_K \simeq 525 MeV. These potentials are obtained based on the time-dependent HAL QCD method with a non-relativistic approximation. Qualitative behaviors of the results are found to be consistent with those in the flavor SU(3) limit.

Fate of the Tetraquark Candidate Zc(3900) from Lattice QCD

The possible exotic meson $Z_{c}(3900)$, found in $e^+ e^-$ reactions, is studied by the method of coupled-channel scattering in lattice QCD. The interaction among $πJ/ψ$, $ρη_{c}$ and $\bar{D}D^{*}$ channels is derived from (2+1)-flavor QCD simulations at $m_π=410$-$700$ MeV. The interaction is dominated by the off-diagonal $πJ/ψ$-$\bar{D}D^{*}$ and $ρη_{c}$-$\bar{D}D^{*}$ couplings, which indicates that the $Z_{c}(3900)$ is not a usual resonance but a threshold cusp. Semi-phenomenological analyses with the coupled-channel interaction are presented to confirm this conclusion.

Interacting fermions in rotation: chiral symmetry restoration, moment of inertia and thermodynamics

We study rotating fermionic matter at finite temperature in the framework of the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model. In order to respect causality the rigidly rotating system must be bound by a cylindrical boundary with appropriate boundary conditions that confine the fermions inside the cylinder. We show the finite geometry with the MIT boundary conditions affects strongly the phase structure of the model leading to three distinct regions characterized by explicitly broken (gapped), partially restored (nearly gapless) and spontaneously broken (gapped) phases at, respectively, small, moderate and large radius of the cylinder. The presence of the boundary leads to specific steplike irregularities of the chiral condensate as functions of coupling constant, temperature and angular frequency. These steplike features have the same nature as the Shubnikov-de Haas oscillations with the crucial difference that they occur in the absence of both external magnetic field and Fermi surface. At finite temperature the rotation leads to restoration of spontaneously broken chiral symmetry while the vacuum at zero temperature is insensitive to rotation ("cold vacuum cannot rotate"). As the temperature increases the critical angular frequency decreases and the transition becomes softer. A phase diagram in angular frequency-temperature plane is presented. We also show that at fixed temperature the fermion matter in the chirally restored (gapless) phase has a higher moment of inertia compared to the one in the chirally broken (gapped) phase.

Effective field theory and the scattering process for magnons in the ferromagnet, antiferromagnet, and ferrimagnet

We discuss that a low-energy effective Lagrangian relying on SO(3) $\rightarrow$ SO(2) is applicable for a ferrimagnet as well as a ferromagnet and an antiferromagnet. The analysis of the particle states shows that there exist not only massless modes with the dispersion relations $ω\propto |\bm{k}|,\, |\bm{k}|^2$, i.e., the so-called type-I and type-II Nambu-Goldstone modes, respectively, but also gapped modes with $ω\propto m^2+|\bm{k}|^2$. We clarify how the coefficients of the terms with one time derivative and those with two time derivatives in the effective Lagrangian determine the order parameters specifying whether the system is in a ferromagnetic, antiferromagnetic or ferrimagnetic state; we stress that the gapped mode related to the spontaneous symmetry breaking appears only in the ferrimagnetic system and not in the ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic systems. We also establish the power counting scheme and calculate the scattering amplitudes and thereby the scattering lengths between the two Nambu-Goldstone bosons. We show that the scattering length of the gapped mode is finite and proportional to the gap. This characteristic property of the gapped NG mode can be used to discriminate it from gapped excitations which originate in other mechanisms. Finally, we study the effects of the explicit symmetry breaking that are given by an external magnetic field and a single-ion anisotropy, and show that the external magnetic fields do not have any effects on the scattering amplitudes in all the spin systems as was known for the ferromagnet system. In contrast, the anisotropy does affect the scattering amplitudes, the phase shift, and the scattering length except for spin 1/2 systems. This result supports the possibility of the Efimov effect in spin systems discussed in previous studies.

Towards Lattice QCD Baryon Forces at the Physical Point: First Results

Lattice QCD calculations of baryon forces are performed for the first time with (almost) physical quark masses. $N_f = 2+1$ dynamical clover fermion gauge configurations are generated at the lattice spacing of $a \simeq 0.085$ fm on a $(96 a)^4 \simeq (8.2 {\rm fm})^4$ lattice with quark masses corresponding to $(m_π, m_K) \simeq (146, 525)$ MeV. Baryon forces are calculated using the time-dependent HAL QCD method. In this report, we study $ΞΞ$ and $NN$ systems both in $^1S_0$ and $^3S_1$-$^3D_1$ channels, and the results for the central and tensor forces as well as phase shifts in the $ΞΞ$ $(^1S_0)$ channel are presented.

A Fast Algorithm for Lattice Hyperonic Potentials

We describe an efficient algorithm to compute a large number of baryon-baryon interactions from $NN$ to $ΞΞ$ by means of HAL QCD method, which lays the groundwork for the nearly physical point lattice QCD calculation with volume $(96a)^4\approx$($8.2$fm)$^4$. Preliminary results of $ΛN$ potential calculated with quark masses corresponding to ($m_π$,$m_{K}$)$\approx$(146,525)MeV are presented.

First results of baryon interactions from lattice QCD with physical masses (1) -- General overview and two-nucleon forces --

We present the lattice QCD studies for baryon-baryon interactions for the first time with (almost) physical quark masses. $N_f = 2+1$ gauge configurations are generated with the Iwasaki gauge action and nonperturbatively $O(a)$-improved Wilson quark action with stout smearing on the lattice of $(96 a)^4 \simeq (8.2 {\rm fm})^4$ with $a \simeq 0.085$ fm, where $m_π\simeq 146$ MeV and $m_K \simeq 525$ MeV. Baryon forces are calculated from Nambu-Bethe-Salpeter (NBS) correlation functions using the time-dependent HAL QCD method. In this report, we first give the general overview of the theoretical frameworks essential to the physical point calculation of baryon forces. We then present the numerical results for the two-nucleon central and tensor forces in $^3S_1$-$^3D_1$ coupled channel and the central force in $^1S_0$ channel. In particular, a clear signal is obtained for the tensor force.

Dark matter in the nonabelian hidden gauge theory

We discuss the dark matter in the hidden gauge theory. We propose a scenario where the mini-inflation dilutes the dark matter density. This scenario is consistent with the current baryon number asymmetry.

Phase structure and the gluon propagator of SU(2) gauge-Higgs model in two dimensions

We study numerically the phase structure and the gluon propagator of the SU(2) gauge-Higgs model in two dimensions. First, we calculate gauge-invariant quantities, in particular the static potential from Wilson Loop, the W propagator, and the plaquette expectation value. Our results suggest that a confinement-like region and a Higgs-like region appear even in two dimensions. In the confinement-like region, the static potential rises linearly, with string breaking at large distances, while in the Higgs-like region, it is of Yukawa type, consistent with a Higgs-type mechanism. The correlation length obtained from the W propagator has a finite maximum between these regions. The plaquette expectation value shows a smooth cross-over consistent with the Fradkin-Shenker-Osterwalder-Seiler theorem. From these results, we suggest that there is no phase transition in two dimensions. We also calculate a gauge-dependent order parameter in Landau gauge. Unlike gauge invariant quantities, the gauge non-invariant order parameter has a line of discontinuity separating these two regions. Finally we calculate the gluon propagtor. We infer from its infrared behavior that the gluon propagator would vanish at zero momentum in the infinite-volume limit, consistent with an analytical study.

Two-dimensional gluon propagators in maximally Abelian gauge in SU(2) Lattice QCD

Using SU(2) lattice QCD in two dimensions, we study diagonal and off-diagonal gluon propagators in the maximally Abelian gauge (MAG) with U(1)$_3$ Landau gauge fixing. These propagators are investigated both in momentum space and coordinate space. The Monte Carlo simulation is performed at $β=7.99, 30.5,$ and $120$ on $62^2, 128^2,$ and $256^2$ at the quenched level. In the momentum space, the transverse component of the diagonal gluon propagator shows suppression with increasing $β$ in the infrared region and the dressing function at $β=120$ has a maximum at $p^2 \simeq 4$GeV, while the transverse component of the off-diagonal gluon propagator does not show the $β$-dependence and the dressing function does not have a maximum. This behavior indicates that the effect of the Gribov copies is found for the diagonal gluon, consistent with the result obtained by the Gribov-Zwanziger action in the MAG. In addition, this behavior supports that the Abelian dominance is not found in two dimensions. In the coordinate space, the diagonal gluon propagator decreases as $β$ increases at long distance. In particular, at $β=120$ the diagonal propagator decreases more rapidly with increasing distance than the off-diagonal propagator. These behaviors also indicate the presence of Gribov copies and no Abelian dominance in two dimensions. Furthermore, we also study these propagators at zero-spatial-momentum. The result suggests that all of the spectral functions of diagonal and off-diagonal gluons would have negative regions and thus they show the violation of the Kallen-Lehmann representation.

Dark matter in the hidden gauge theory

The cosmological scenario of the dark matter generated in the hidden gauge theory based on the grand unification is discussed. It is found that the stability of the dark matter halo of our Galaxy and the cosmic ray observation constrain, respectively, the dark matter mass and the unification scale between the standard model and the hidden gauge theory sectors. To obtain a phenomenologically consistent thermal evolution, the entropy of the standard model sector needs to be increased. We therefore propose a scenario where the mini-inflation is induced from the potential coupled to the Standard model sector, in particular the Higgs sector. This scenario makes consistent the current dark matter density as well as the baryon-to-photon ratio for the case of pion dark matter. For the glueball or heavy pion of hidden gauge theory, an additional mini-inflation in the standard model sector before the leptogenesis is required. We also propose the possibility to confirm this scenario by known prospective experimental approaches.

Two-dimensional phase structure of SU(2) gauge-Higgs model

We study the phase structure of SU(2) gauge-Higgs model in two dimensions using lattice simulations. We show the result for the plaquette expectation value, static potential, and W propagator. Our results suggest that a confinement-like region and a Higgs-like region appear even in two dimensions. The behavior of the plaquette expectation value is consistent with a smooth cross-over in accordance with the Fradkin-Shenker-Osterwalder-Seiler theorem. In the confinement-like region, the static potential seems to rise linearly with string breaking at large distances, while in the Higgs-like region there seems to be a massive behavior which means that the BEH mechanism occurs. The correlation length obtained from the W propagator has a finite maximum between these phases, which supports no second-order phase transition. Based on these results, we suggest that there is no phase transition in two dimensions.

Nambu-Goldstone bosons and the Higgs mechanism without Lorentz invariance: Analysis based on constrained-system theory

First, we develop the counting rule for Nambu-Goldstone bosons to the system including two-time derivative terms. In this case, the type-II Nambu-Goldstone bosons may appear along with the massive Nambu-Goldstone ones. The number of the bosons is not reduced in contrast to the system without two-time derivative terms. We also investigate the reduction of the degrees of freedom from the perspective of the Dirac-Bergmann theory of constraints and reproduce the counting rule for Nambu-Goldstone bosons without Lorentz invariance. Then, we construct the generic Higgs model and study a Higgs phenomenon with these Nambu-Goldstone bosons on the basis of the Dirac-Bergmann theory. We show that the gauge fields in this system absorb all of the Nambu-Goldstone bosons such as the type-I, type-II and massive ones.

Gribov-Zwanziger action in SU(2) Maximally Abelian Gauge with U(1)$_3$ Landau Gauge

We construct the local Gribov-Zwanziger action for SU(2) Euclidean Yang-Mills theories in the maximally Abelian (MA) gauge with U(1)$_3$ Landau gauge fixing based on the Zwanziger's work in the Landau gauge. By the restriction of the functional integral region to the Gribov region in the MA gauge, we give the nonlocal action. We localize the action with new fields and obtain the action with the shift of the new scalar fields, which has the terms, corresponding to the localized action of the horizon function in the MA gauge. The diagonal gluon propagator in the MA gauge at tree level behaves like the propagator from Gribov-Zwanziger action in the Landau gauge and shows the violation of Kallen-Lehmann representation.

Gluon Propagators in Maximally Abelian Gauge in SU(3) Lattice QCD

In SU(3) lattice QCD, we study diagonal and off-diagonal gluon propagators in the maximally Abelian (MA) gauge with U(1)$_3 \timesU(1)_8$ Landau gauge fixing. These propagators are studied both in the coordinate space and in the momentum space. The Monte Carlo simulation is performed on $16^4$ at $β$=6.0 and $32^4$ at $β$=5.8 and 6.0 at the quenched level. In the four-dimensional Euclidean space-time, the effective mass of diagonal gluons is estimated as $M_{\mathrm{diag}} \simeq 0.3\mathrm{GeV}$ and that of off-diagonal gluons as $M_{\mathrm{off}} \simeq 1\mathrm{GeV}$ in the region of $r =0.4-1.0$fm. In the momentum space, the effective mass of diagonal gluons is estimated as $M_{\mathrm{diag}} \simeq 0.3\mathrm{GeV}$ and that of off-diagonal gluons as $M_{\mathrm{off}} \simeq 1\mathrm{GeV}$ in the region of $p <1.1$GeV. The off-diagonal gluon propagator is relatively suppressed in the infrared region and seems to be finite at zero momentum, while the diagonal gluon propagator is enhanced. Furthermore, we also study the functional form of these propagators in momentum space. These propagators are well fitted by $Z/(p^2+m^2)^ν$ with fit parameters, $Z, m$ and $ν$ in the region of $p <3.0$GeV. From the fit results and lattice calculations, all of the spectral functions of diagonal and off-diagonal gluons would have negative regions.

Polyakov loop analysis with Dirac-mode expansion

In order to investigate the direct relation between confinement and chiral symmetry breaking in QCD, we investigate the Polyakov loop in terms of the Dirac eigenmodes in both confined and deconfined phases. Using the Dirac-mode expansion method in SU(3) lattice QCD, we analyze the contribution of low-lying and higher Dirac-modes to the Polyakov loop, respectively. In the confined phase below T_c, after removing low-lying Dirac-modes, the chiral condensate $< \bar{q} q>$ is largely reduced, however, the Polyakov loop remains almost zero and Z_3-center symmetry is unbroken. These results indicate that the system is still in the confined phase without low-lying Dirac-modes. By higher Dirac-modes cut, the Polyakov loop also remains almost zero below T_c. We also analyze the Polyakov loop in the deconfined phase above T_c. We find that the Polyakov loop and Z_3-symmetry behavior are insensitive to low-lying and higher Dirac-modes in both confined and deconfined phases.

Lattice QCD study of confinement and chiral symmetry breaking with Dirac-mode expansion

Using the eigen-mode of the QCD Dirac operator $\Slash D=γ^μD^μ$, we develop a manifestly gauge-covariant expansion and projection of the QCD operators such as the Wilson loop and the Polyakov loop. With this method, we perform a direct analysis of the correlation between confinement and chiral symmetry breaking in lattice QCD Monte Carlo calculations. Even after removing the low-lying Dirac modes, which are responsible to chiral symmetry breaking, we find that the Wilson loop obeys the area law, and the string tension or the confinement force is almost unchanged. We find also that the Polyakov loop remains to be almost zero even without the low-lying Dirac modes, which indicates the Z_3-unbroken confinement phase. These results indicate that one-to-one correspondence does not hold between confinement and chiral symmetry breaking in QCD.

SU(3) lattice QCD study of the gluon propagator in maximally Abelian gauge: off-diagonal gluon mass generation and infrared Abelian dominance

We investigate gluon propagators and the effective mass of the gluon fields in the MA gauge with U(1)$_3 \times$ U(1)$_8$ Landau gauge fixing in SU(3) lattice QCD. The Monte Carlo simulation is performed on $16^4$ at $β$=5.7, 5.8 and 6.0 and $32^4$ at $β=$5.8 and 6.0 at the quenched level. To calculate the propagators, we adopt a method to extract gauge fields from link-variables analytically in the SU(3) case. The off-diagonal gluons behave as massive vector bosons with the approximate effective mass $M_{\rm off} \simeq 1.1 - 1.2 {\rm GeV}$ in the region of $r = 0.3 - 0.8 {\rm fm}$, and the propagation is limited within a short range. On the other hand, the diagonal gluons behave as light vector bosons with $M_{\rm diag}\simeq 0.3 {\rm GeV} $ and the propagation of diagonal gluons remains even in a large range. In this way, infrared Abelian dominance is shown in terms of short-range propagation of off-diagonal gluons. Furthermore, we investigate the functional form of the off-diagonal gluon propagator. The functional form is well described by the four-dimensional Euclidean Yukawa-type function ${\rm exp}(-m_{\rm off} r)/r$ with $m_{\rm off} = 1.3 -1.4 {\rm GeV}$ for $r = 0.1- 0.8{\rm fm}$. This also indicates that the spectral function of off-diagonal gluons has the negative-value region.
