Improvement of low energy atmospheric neutrino flux calculation using the JAM nuclear interaction model

We present the calculation of the atmospheric neutrino fluxes with an interaction model named JAM, which is used in PHITS (Particle and Heavy-Ion Transport code System). The JAM interaction model agrees with the HARP experiment a little better than DPMJET-III. After some modifications, it reproduces the muon flux below 1~GeV/c at balloon altitudes better than the modified-DPMJET-III which we used for the calculation of atmospheric neutrino flux in previous works. Some improvements in the calculation of atmospheric neutrino flux are also reported.

The Effect of a Small Mixing Angle in the Atmospheric Neutrinos

The effect of matter enhanced neutrino oscillations on atmosheric neutrinos is investigated systematically in the framework of one mass dominant model of three neutrinos. The resonance conditions of neutrino crossing the earth are determined by the three parameters, namely, the zenith angle, ${Δm^2/E}$, and the mixing angle ${θ_3}$ of the electron neutrinos with tau neutrinos. The values of the triplet under the resonance is found numerically.

Folded Bifurcation in Coupled Asymmetric Logistic Maps

A system of coupled two logistic maps, one periodic and the other chaotic, is studied. It is found that with the variation of the coupling strength, the system displays several curious features such as the appearance of quadrupling of period, occurrence of isolated period three attractor and the coexistence of the Hopf and pitchfork bifurcations. Possible applications and extensions are discussed.
