Weak Formulation of the Laplacian on the Full Shift Space

We consider a Laplacian on the one-sided full shift space over a finite symbol set, which is constructed as a renormalized limit of finite difference operators. We propose a weak definition of this Laplacian, analogous to the one in calculus, by choosing test functions as those which have finite energy and vanish on various boundary sets. In the abstract setting of the shift space, the boundary sets are chosen to be the sets on which the finite difference operators are defined. We then define the Neumann derivative of functions on these boundary sets and establish a relation between three important concepts in analysis so far, namely, the Laplacian, the bilinear energy form and the Neumann derivative of a function. As a result, we obtain the Gauss-Green's formula analogous to the one in classical case. We conclude this paper by providing a sufficient condition for the Neumann boundary value problem on the shift space.

Simultaneous Action of Finitely Many Interval Maps: Some Dynamical and Statistical Properties

In this paper, we consider finitely many interval maps simultaneously acting on the unit interval $I = [0, 1]$ in the real line $\mathbb{R}$; each with utmost finitely many jump discontinuities and study certain important statistical properties. Even though we use the symbolic space on $N$ letters to reduce the case of simultaneous dynamics to maps on an appropriate space, our aim in this paper remains to resolve ergodicity, rates of recurrence, decay of correlations and invariance principles leading upto the central limit theorem for the dynamics that evolves through simultaneous action. In order to achieve our ends, we define various Ruelle operators, normalise them by various means and exploit their spectra.

Dirichlet eigenvalues of the Laplacian on full one-sided shift space

The full one sided shift space over finite symbols is approximated by an increasing sequence of finite subsets of the space. The Laplacian on the space is then defined as a renormalised limit of the difference operators defined on these subsets. In this work, we determine the spectrum of these difference operators completely, using the method of spectral decimation. Further, we prove that under certain conditions, the renormalised eigenvalues of the difference operators converge to an eigenvalue of the Laplacian.

Lyapunov exponents of polynomials with respect to certain weighted Lyubich's measures

In this paper, we consider a monic, centred, hyperbolic polynomial of degree $d \ge 2$, restricted on its Julia set and compute its Lyapunov exponents with respect to certain weighted Lyubich's measures. In particular, we show a certain well-behavedness of some coefficients of the Lyapunov exponents, that quantifies the non-well-behavedness in a system.

The dependence of Lyapunov exponents of polynomials on its coefficients

In this paper, we consider the family of hyperbolic quadratic polynomials parametrised by a complex constant; namely $P_{c}(z) = z^{2} + c$ with $|c| < 1$ and the family of hyperbolic cubic polynomials parametrised by two complex constants; namely $P_{(a_{1},a_{0})}(z) = z^{3} + a_{1}z + a_{0}$ with $|a_{i}| < 1$, restricted on their respective Julia sets. We compute the Lyapunov characteristic exponents for these polynomial maps over corresponding Julia sets, with respect to various Bernoulli measures and obtain results pertaining to the dependence of the behaviour of these exponents on the parameters describing the polynomial map. We achieve this using the theory of thermodynamic formalism, the pressure function in particular.

Distribution of typical orbits for a skew-product map generated by random dynamics of finitely many rational maps

In this paper, we consider the dynamics of a skew-product map defined on the Cartesian product of the symbolic one-sided shift space on $N$ symbols and the complex sphere where we allow $N$ rational maps, $R_{1}, R_{2}, \cdots, R_{N}$, each with degree $d_{i};\ 1 \le i \le N$ and with at least one $R_{i}$ in the collection whose degree is at least $2$. We obtain results regarding the distribution of pre-images of points and the periodic points in a subset of the product space (where the skew-product map does not behave normally). We further explore the ergodicity of the Sumi-Urbanskii (equilibrium) measure associated to some real-valued Hölder continuous function defined on the Julia set of the skew-product map and obtain estimates on the mean deviation of the behaviour of typical orbits, violating such ergodic necessities.

Holomorphic correspondences related to finitely generated rational semigroups

In this paper, we present a new technique for studying the dynamics of a finitely generated rational semigroup. Such a semigroup can be associated naturally to a certain holomorphic correspondence on $\mathbb{P}^1$. Then, results on the iterative dynamics of such a correspondence can be applied to the study of the rational semigroup. We focus on a certain invariant measure for the aforementioned correspondence---known as the equilibrium measure. This confers some advantages over many of the known techniques for studying the dynamics of rational semigroups. We use the equilibrium measure to analyse the distribution of repelling fixed points of a finitely generated rational semigroup, and to derive a sharp bound for the Hausdorff dimension of the Julia set of such a semigroup.

The dynamics of holomorphic correspondences of P^1: invariant measures and the normality set

This paper is motivated by Brolin's theorem. The phenomenon we wish to demonstrate is as follows: if $F$ is a holomorphic correspondence on $\mathbb{P}^1$, then (under certain conditions) $F$ admits a measure $μ_F$ such that, for any point $z$ drawn from a "large" open subset of $\mathbb{P}^1$, $μ_F$ is the weak*-limit of the normalised sums of point masses carried by the pre-images of $z$ under the iterates of $F$. Let ${}^\dagger{F}$ denote the transpose of $F$. Under the condition $d_{top}(F) > d_{top}({}^\dagger{F})$, where $d_{top}$ denotes the topological degree, the above phenomemon was established by Dinh and Sibony. We show that the support of this $μ_F$ is disjoint from the normality set of $F$. There are many interesting correspondences on $\mathbb{P}^1$ for which $d_{top}(F) \leq d_{top}({}^\dagger{F})$. Examples are the correspondences introduced by Bullett and collaborators. When $d_{top}(F) \leq d_{top}({}^\dagger{F})$, equidistribution cannot be expected to the full extent of Brolin's theorem. However, we prove that when $F$ admits a repeller, equidistribution in the above sense holds true.

Spectral triple and Sinai - Ruelle - Bowen measures

In this article, we recover the Sinai - Ruelle - Bowen measure associated to a real-valued Hölder continuous function defined on the Julia set of a hyperbolic quadratic polynomial, as a noncommutative measure by constructing an appropriate spectral triple.
