$C_0$-positivity and a classification of closed three-dimensional CR torsion solitons

A closed CR 3-manifold is said to have $C_{0}$-positive pseudohermitian curvature if $(W+C_{0}Tor)(X,X)>0$ for any $0\neq X\in T_{1,0}(M)$. We discover an obstruction for a closed CR 3-manifold to possess $C_{0}$-positive pseudohermitian curvature. We classify closed three-dimensional CR Yamabe solitons according to $C_{0}$-positivity and $C_{0}$-negativity whenever $C_{0}=1$ and the potential function lies in the kernel of Paneitz operator. Moreover, we show that any closed three-dimensional CR torsion soliton must be the standard Sasakian space form. At last, we discuss the persistence of $C_{0}$-positivity along the CR torsion flow starting from a pseudo-Einstein contact form.

Short-Time Existence Theorem for the CR Torsion Flow

In this paper, we study the torsion flow which is served as the CR analogue of the Ricci flow in a closed pseudohermitian manifold. We show that there exists a unique smooth solution to the CR torsion flow in a small time interval with the CR pluriharmonic function as an initial data. In spirit, it is the CR analogue of the Cauchy-Kovalevskaya local existence and uniqueness theorem for analytic partial differential equations associated with Cauchy initial value problems

On the sharp dimension estimate of CR holomorphic functions in Sasakian Manifolds

This is the very first paper to focus on the CR analogue of Yau's uniformization conjecture in a complete noncompact pseudohermitian $(2n+1)$-manifold of vanishing torsion (i.e. Sasakian manifold) which is an odd dimensional counterpart of Kähler geometry. In this paper, we mainly deal with the problem of the sharp dimension estimate of CR holomorphic functions in a complete noncompact pseudohermitian manifold of vanishing torsion with nonnegative pseudohermitian bisectional curvature.

On the CR Poincaré-Lelong equation, Yamabe steady solitons and structures of complete noncompact Sasakian manifolds

In this paper, we solve the so-called CR Poincaré-Lelong equation by solving the CR Poisson equation on a complete noncompact CR $(2n+1)$-manifold with nonegative pseudohermitian bisectional curvature tensors and vanishing torsion which is an odd dimensional counterpart of Kähler geometry. With applications of this solution plus the CR Liouvelle property, we study the structures of complete noncompact Sasakian manifolds and CR Yamabe steady solitons.

Convergence of Closed Pseudo-Hermitian Manifolds

Based on uniform CR Sobolev inequality and Moser iteration, this paper investigates the convergence of closed pseudo-Hermitian manifolds. In terms of the subelliptic inequality, the set of closed normalized pseudo-Einstein manifolds with some uniform geometric conditions is compact. Moreover, the set of closed normalized Sasakian $η$-Einstein $(2n+1)$-manifolds with Carnot-Carathéodory distance bounded from above, volume bounded from below and $L^{n + \frac{1}{2}}$ norm of pseudo-Hermitian curvature bounded is $C^\infty$ compact. As an application, we will deduce some pointed convergence of complete Kähler cones with Sasakian manifolds as their links.

CR Sub-Laplacian Comparison and Liouville-type Theorem in a Complete Noncompact Sasakian Manifold

In this paper, we first obtain the sub-Laplacian comparison theorem in a complete noncompact pseudohermitian manifold of vanishing torsion (i.e. Sasakian manifold). Secondly, we derive the sub-gradient estimate for positive pseudoharmonic functions in a complete noncompact pseudohermitian manifold which satisfies the CR sub-Laplacian comparison property. It is served as the CR analog of Yau's gradient estimate. As a consequence, we have the natural CR analogue of Liouville-type theorems in a complete noncompact Sasakian manifold of nonnegative pseudohermitian Ricci curvature tensors.

On the three-circle theorem and its applications in Sasakian manifolds

This paper mainly focuses on the CR analogue of the three-circle theorem in a complete noncompact pseudohermitian manifold of vanishing torsion being odd dimensional counterpart of Kähler geometry. In this paper, we show that the CR three-circle theorem holds if its pseudohermitian sectional curvature is nonnegative. As an application, we confirm the first CR Yau's uniformization conjecture and obtain the CR analogue of the sharp dimension estimate for CR holomorphic functions of polynomial growth and its rigidity when the pseudohermitian sectional curvature is nonnegative. This is also the first step toward second and third CR Yau's uniformization conjecture. Moreover, in the course of the proof of the CR three-circle theorem, we derive CR sub-Laplacian comparison theorem. Then Liouville theorem holds for positive pseudoharmonic functions in a complete noncompact pseudohermitian (2n+1)-manifold of vanishing torsion and nonnegative pseudohermitian Ricci curvature.

Liouville properties for p-harmonic maps with finite q-energy

We introduce and study an approximate solution of the p-Laplace equation, and a linearlization $L_ε$ of a perturbed p-Laplace operator. By deriving an $L_ε$-type Bochner's formula and a Kato type inequality, we prove a Liouville type theorem for weakly p-harmonic functions with finite p-energy on a complete noncompact manifold M which supports a weighted Poincaré inequality and satisfies a curvature assumption. This nonexistence result, when combined with an existence theorem, yields in turn some information on topology, i.e. such an M has at most one p-hyperbolic end. Moreover, we prove a Liouville type theorem for strongly p-harmonic functions with finite q-energy on Riemannian manifolds, where the range for q contains p. As an application, we extend this theorem to some p-harmonic maps such as p-harmonic morphisms and conformal maps between Riemannian manifolds.

On Li-Yau gradient estimate for sum of squares of vector fields up to higher step

In this paper, we generalize the Cao-Yau's gradient estimate for the sum of squares of vector fields up to higher step under assumption of the generalized curvature-dimension inequality. With its applications, by deriving a curvature-dimension inequality, we are able to obtain the Li-Yau gradient estimate for the CR heat equation in a closed pseudohermitian manifold of nonvanishing torsion tensors. As consequences, we obtain the Harnack inequality and upper bound estimate for the CR heat kernel.

On the p-pseudoharmonic map heat flow

In this paper, we consider the heat flow for p-pseudoharmonic maps from a closed Sasakian manifold M into a compact Riemannian manifold N. We prove global existence and asymptotic convergence of the solution for the p-pseudoharmonic map heat flow, provided that the sectional curvature of the target manifold N is nonpositive. Moreover, without the curvature assumption on the target manifold, we obtain global existence and asymptotic convergence of the p-pseudoharmonic map heat flow as well when its initial p-energy is sufficiently small.

On Three-dimensional CR Yamabe Solitons

In this paper, we investigate the geometry and classification of three-dimensional CR Yamabe solitons. In the compact case, we show that any 3-dimensional CR Yamabe soliton must have constant Tanaka-Webster scalar curvature; we also obtain a classification under the assumption that their potential functions are in the kernel of the CR Paneitz operator. In the complete case, we obtain a structure theorem on the diffeomorphism types of complete 3-dimensional pseudo-gradient CR Yamabe solitons (shrinking, or steady, or expanding) of vanishing torsion.

On the CR Analogue of Reilly Formula and Yau Eigenvalue Conjecture

In this paper, we derive the CR Reilly's formula and its applications to studying of the first eigenvalue estimate for CR Dirichlet eigenvalue problem and embedded p-minimal hypersurfaces. In particular, we obtain the first Dirichlet eigenvalue estimate in a compact pseudohermitian (2n+1)-manifold with boundary and the first eigenvalue estimate of the tangential sublaplacian on closed oriented embedded p-minimal hypersurfaces in a closed pseudohermitian (2n+1)-manifold of vanishing torsion.

An Optimal Gap Theorem in a Complete Strictly Pseudoconvex CR Manifold

In this paper, by applying a linear trace Li-Yau-Hamilton inequality for a positive (1,1)-form solution of the CR Hodge-Laplace heat equation and monotonicity of the heat equation deformation, we obtain an optimal gap theorem for a complete strictly pseudocovex CR manifold with nonnegative pseudohermitian bisectional curvature and vanishing torsion. We prove that if the average of the Tanaka-Webster scalar curvature over a ball of radius centered at some point o decays as $o(r^{-2})$, then the manifold is flat.

The torsion flow on a closed pseudohermitian 3-manifold

In this paper we define the torsion flow, a CR analogue of the Ricci flow. For homogeneous CR manifolds we give explicit solutions to the torsion flow illustrating various kinds of behavior. We also derive monotonicity formulas for CR entropy functionals. As an application, we classify torsion breathers.

The modified Calabi-Yau problems for CR-manifolds and applications

In this paper, we derive a partial result related to a question of Yau: "Does a simply-connected complete Kähler manifold M with negative sectional curvature admit a bounded non-constant holomorphic function?" Main Theorem. Let $M^{2n}$ be a simply-connected complete Kähler manifold M with negative sectional curvature $ \le -1 $ and $S_\infty(M)$ be the sphere at infinity of $M$. Then there is an explicit {\it bounded} contact form $β$ defined on the entire manifold $M^{2n}$. Consequently, the sphere $S_\infty(M)$ at infinity of M admits a {\it bounded} contact structure and a bounded pseudo-Hermitian metric in the sense of Tanaka-Webster. We also discuss several open modified problems of Calabi and Yau for Alexandrov spaces and CR-manifolds.

Pseudo-Einstein and Q-flat metrics with eigenvalue estimates on CR-hypersurfaces

Let $M^{2n-1}$ be the smooth boundary of a bounded strongly pseudo-convex domain $Ω$ in a complete Stein manifold $V^{2n}$. Then (1) For $n \ge 3$, $M^{2n-1}$ admits a pseudo-Eistein metric; (2) For $n \ge 2$, $M^{2n-1}$ admits a Fefferman metric of zero CR Q-curvature; and (3) for a compact strictly pseudoconvex CR embeddable 3-manifold $M^3$, its CR Paneitz operator $P$ is a closed operator.

A Fourth Order Curvature Flow on a CR 3-manifold

Let $(\mathbf{M}^{3},J,θ_{0})$ be a closed pseudohermitian 3-manifold. Suppose the associated torsion vanishes and the associated $Q$-curvature has no kernel part with respect to the associated Paneitz operator. On such a background pseudohermitian 3-manifold, we study the change of the contact form according to a certain version of normalized $Q$-curvature flow. This is a fourth order evolution equation. We prove that the solution exists for all time and converges smoothly to a contact form of zero $Q$ -curvature. We also consider other background conditions and obtain a priori bounds up to high orders for the solution.
