Non-GRS type MDS and AMDS codes from extended TGRS codes

Maximum distance separable (MDS) and almost maximum distance separable (AMDS) codes have been widely used in various fields such as communication systems, data storage, and quantum codes because of their algebraic properties and excellent error-correcting capabilities. In this paper, we construct a class of extended twisted generalized Reed-Solomon (TGRS) codes and determine the necessary and sufficient conditions for these codes to be MDS or AMDS. Additionally, we prove that these codes are not equivalent to generalized Reed-Solomon (GRS) codes. As an application, under certain circumstances, we compute the covering radii and deep holes of these codes.

Linear Codes Constructed From Two Weakly Regular Plateaued Functions with Index (p-1)/2

Linear codes are the most important family of codes in cryptography and coding theory. Some codes have only a few weights and are widely used in many areas, such as authentication codes, secret sharing schemes and strongly regular graphs. By setting $ p\equiv 1 \pmod 4 $, we construct an infinite family of linear codes using two distinct weakly regular unbalanced (and balanced) plateaued functions with index $ (p-1)/2 $. Their weight distributions are completely determined by applying exponential sums and Walsh transform. As a result, most of our constructed codes have a few nonzero weights and are minimal.

Weierstrass Semigroups From a Tower of Function Fields Attaining the Drinfeld-Vladut Bound

For applications in algebraic geometric codes, an explicit description of bases of Riemann-Roch spaces of divisors on function fields over finite fields is needed. We investigate the third function field $ F^{(3)} $ in a tower of Artin-Schreier extensions described by Garcia and Stichtenoth reaching the Drinfeld-Vl{ă}du{ţ} bound. We construct bases for the related Riemann-Roch spaces on $ F^{(3)} $ and present some basic properties of divisors on a line. From the bases, we explicitly calculate the Weierstrass semigroups and pure gaps at several places on $ F^{(3)} $. All of these results can be viewed as a generalization of the previous work done by Voss and Høholdt (1997).

Multi-point Codes from the GGS Curves

This paper is concerned with the construction of algebraic geometric codes defined from GGS curves. It is of significant use to describe bases for the Riemann-Roch spaces associated with totally ramified places, which enables us to study multi-point AG codes. Along this line, we characterize explicitly the Weierstrass semigroups and pure gaps. Additionally, we determine the floor of a certain type of divisor and investigate the properties of AG codes from GGS curves. Finally, we apply these results to find multi-point codes with excellent parameters. As one of the examples, a presented code with parameters $ [216,190,\geqslant 18] $ over $ \mathbb{F}_{64} $ yields a new record.

Complete weight enumerators of a class of linear codes with two or three weights

We construct a class of linear codes by choosing a proper defining set and determine their complete weight enumerators and weight enumerators. The results show that they are at most three-weight codes and they are suitable for applications in secret sharing schemes. We give an extension of the results raised by Wang et al.(2017).

Complete Weight Distribution and MacWilliams Identities for Asymmetric Quantum Codes

In 1997, Shor and Laflamme defined the weight enumerators for quantum error-correcting codes and derived a MacWilliams identity. We extend their work by introducing our double weight enumerators and complete weight enumerators. The MacWilliams identities for these enumerators can be obtained similarly. With the help of MacWilliams identities, we obtain various bounds for asymmetric quantum codes.

Weierstrass Pure Gaps From a Quotient of the Hermitian Curve

In this paper, by employing the results over Kummer extensions, we give an arithmetic characterization of pure gaps at many totally ramified places over the quotients of Hermitian curves, including the well-studied Hermitian curves as special cases. The cardinality of these pure gaps is explicitly investigated. In particular, the numbers of gaps and pure gaps at a pair of distinct places are determined precisely, which can be regarded as an extension of the previous work by Matthews (2001) considered Hermitian curves. Additionally, some concrete examples are provided to illustrate our results.

A Construction of Linear Codes and Their Complete Weight Enumerators

Recently, linear codes constructed from defining sets have been studied extensively. They may have nice parameters if the defining set is chosen properly. Let $ m >2$ be a positive integer. For an odd prime $ p $, let $ r=p^m $ and $\text{Tr}$ be the absolute trace function from $\mathbb{F}_r$ onto $\mathbb{F}_p$. In this paper, we give a construction of linear codes by defining the code $ C_{D}=\{(\mathrm{Tr}(ax))_{x\in D}: a \in \mathbb{F}_{r} \}, $ where $ D =\left\{x\in \mathbb{F}_{r} : \mathrm{Tr}(x)=1, \mathrm{Tr}(x^2)=0 \right\}. $ Its complete weight enumerator and weight enumerator are determined explicitly by employing cyclotomic numbers and Gauss sums. In addition, we obtain several optimal linear codes with a few weights. They have higher rate compared with other codes, which enables them to have essential applications in areas such as association schemes and secret sharing schemes.

Weierstrass Semigroups from Kummer Extensions

The Weierstrass semigroups and pure gaps can be helpful in constructing codes with better parameters. In this paper, we investigate explicitly the minimal generating set of the Weierstrass semigroups associated with several totally ramified places over arbitrary Kummer extensions. Applying the techniques provided by Matthews in her previous work, we extend the results of specific Kummer extensions studied in the literature. Some examples are included to illustrate our results.

Multi-point Codes over Kummer Extensions

This paper is concerned with the construction of algebraic geometric codes defined from Kummer extensions. It plays a significant role in the study of such codes to describe bases for the Riemann-Roch spaces associated with totally ramified places. Along this line, we give an explicit characterization of Weierstrass semigroups and pure gaps. Additionally, we determine the floor of a certain type of divisor introduced by Maharaj, Matthews and Pirsic. Finally, we apply these results to find multi-point codes with good parameters. As one of the examples, a presented code with parameters $ [254,228,\geqslant 16] $ over $ \mathbb{F}_{64} $ yields a new record.

The Complete Weight Enumerator of Several Cyclic Codes

Cyclic codes have attracted a lot of research interest for decades. In this paper, for an odd prime $p$, we propose a general strategy to compute the complete weight enumerator of cyclic codes via the value distribution of the corresponding exponential sums. As applications of this general strategy, we determine the complete weight enumerator of several $p$-ary cyclic codes and give some examples to illustrate our results.

A Class of Three-Weight Linear Codes and Their Complete Weight Enumerators

Recently, linear codes constructed from defining sets have been investigated extensively and they have many applications. In this paper, for an odd prime $p$, we propose a class of $p$-ary linear codes by choosing a proper defining set. Their weight enumerators and complete weight enumerators are presented explicitly. The results show that they are linear codes with three weights and suitable for the constructions of authentication codes and secret sharing schemes.

Complete Weight Enumerators of a Family of Three-Weight Linear Codes

Linear codes have been an interesting topic in both theory and practice for many years. In this paper, for an odd prime $p$, we present the explicit complete weight enumerator of a family of $p$-ary linear codes constructed with defining set. The weight enumerator is an mmediate result of the complete weight enumerator, which shows that the codes proposed in this paper are three-weight linear codes. Additionally, all nonzero codewords are minimal and thus they are suitable for secret sharing.

The weight distributions of two classes of p ary cyclic codes with few weights

Cyclic codes have attracted a lot of research interest for decades as they have efficient encoding and decoding algorithms. In this paper, for an odd prime $p$, the weight distributions of two classes of $p$-ary cyclic codes are completely determined. We show that both codes have at most five nonzero weights.
