Robust mean field control: an application to optimal execution under composite uncertainty

We provide a framework for robust mean field control problems that describe multi-dimensional optimal liquidation problems under uncertainty from both the underlying stochastic process and the deterministic model parameters. The verification results are established with Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman-Isaacs (HJBI) equations where the variables are probability measures and the Hamiltonian nonlinearly involves the joint distribution of position and momentum. Using novel a priori estimates, we establish the well-posedness of the HJBI equations featuring general or quadratic Hamiltonians that are neither displacement convex nor concave in their momentum. The a priori estimates and well-posedness results are extended during their application to optimal liquidation problems, where we allow the Hamiltonian to have derivatives of linear growth and solve the constrained multi-dimensional linear quadratic optimal liquidation problem under composite uncertainty.

A CMOS-compatible, scalable and compact magnetoelectric spin-torque microwave detector

The development of compact and highly sensitive microwave detectors compatible with complementary-metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) processes is an active research area but remains a major challenge in microwave technology. Spin-torque diodes (STDs) are emerging nanoscale spintronic devices capable of surpassing the theoretical thermodynamic sensitivity limits of Schottky diodes. However, their practical use in compact systems is limited by the need of external antennas or probes. Here, we demonstrate a magnetoelectric (ME) spin-torque microwave detector that monolithically integrates an ME antenna with a magnetic tunnel junction (MTJ). The device directly converts wireless electromagnetic signals into a DC output at sub-microwatt power levels, achieving a sensitivity greater than 90 kV/W, a noise equivalent power of 3 pW*Hz^-0.5, and a compact footprint of 0.4 mm^2. This performance is due to the nonlinear coupling between incoherent magnetization dynamics, driven by a DC current in the MTJ, and the combined effects of the microwave voltage and strain generated by the ME antenna under incident electromagnetic waves. We further show that this design is scalable, enabling the co-integration of an ME antenna with an array of MTJs. A detector incorporating four MTJs, for example, exhibits a sensitivity exceeding 400 kV/W. This work paves the way for a new generation of highly sensitive, compact and scalable microwave detectors that combine ME antennas and spintronic diodes.

The global well-posedness for master equations of mean field games of controls

In this manuscript, we establish the global well-posedness for master equations of mean field games of controls, where the interaction is through the joint law of the state and control. Our results are proved under two different conditions: the Lasry-Lions monotonicity and the displacement $\lambda$-monotonicity, both considered in their integral forms. We provide a detailed analysis of both the differential and integral versions of these monotonicity conditions for the corresponding nonseparable Hamiltonian and examine their relation. The proof of global well-posedness relies on the propagation of these monotonicity conditions in their integral forms and a priori uniform Lipschitz continuity of the solution with respect to the measure variable.

Topological spin-torque diode effect in skyrmion-based magnetic tunnel junctions

The growing market and massive use of Internet of Things nodes is placing unprecedented demands of energy efficient hardware for edge computing and microwave devices. In particular, magnetic tunnel junctions (MTJs), as main building blocks of spintronic microwave technology, can offer a path for the development of compact and high-performance microwave detectors. On the other hand, the fascinating field of skyrmionics is bridging together concepts from topology and spintronics. Here, we show the proof of concept of the direct electrical excitation and detection of the dynamics of a topological protected magnetic texture, i.e. skyrmion at room temperature and for a wide region of applied fields, including the zero field case. This topological spin torque diode is realized with an MTJ on top of a skyrmionic material. Quantitative Magnetic Force Microscopy measurements are employed to confirm the existence of a single skyrmion in the MTJ free layer. Spin torque diode electrical measurements show the electrical excitation via spin transfer torque (STT) of a skyrmion resonant mode with frequencies near 4 GHz and a selectivity one order of magnitude smaller than the uniform modes excited in the same device. Micromagnetic simulations identify these dynamics with the excitation of the breathing mode and point out the role of thickness dependent magnetic parameters (magnetic anisotropy field and Dzyaloshinkii Moriya interaction) in both stabilizing and exciting the magnetic skyrmions. This work marks a milestone for the development of topological spin torque diodes.

Towards a high-intensity muon source at CiADS

The proposal of a high-intensity muon source driven by the CiADS linac, which has the potential to be one of the state-of-the-art facilities, is presented in this paper. We briefly introduce the development progress of the superconducting linac of CiADS. Then the consideration of challenges related to the high-power muon production target is given and the liquid lithium jet muon production target concept is proposed, for the first time. The exploration of the optimal target geometry for surface muon production efficiency and the investigation into the performance of liquid lithium jet target in muon rate are given. Based on the comparison between the liquid lithium jet target and the rotation graphite target, from perspectives of surface muon production efficiency, heat processing ability and target geometry compactness, the advantages of the new target concept are demonstrated and described comprehensively. The technical challenges and the feasibility of the free-surface liquid lithium target are discussed.

Trend-Based SAC Beam Control Method with Zero-Shot in Superconducting Linear Accelerator

The superconducting linear accelerator is a highly flexiable facility for modern scientific discoveries, necessitating weekly reconfiguration and tuning. Accordingly, minimizing setup time proves essential in affording users with ample experimental time. We propose a trend-based soft actor-critic(TBSAC) beam control method with strong robustness, allowing the agents to be trained in a simulated environment and applied to the real accelerator directly with zero-shot. To validate the effectiveness of our method, two different typical beam control tasks were performed on China Accelerator Facility for Superheavy Elements (CAFe II) and a light particle injector(LPI) respectively. The orbit correction tasks were performed in three cryomodules in CAFe II seperately, the time required for tuning has been reduced to one-tenth of that needed by human experts, and the RMS values of the corrected orbit were all less than 1mm. The other transmission efficiency optimization task was conducted in the LPI, our agent successfully optimized the transmission efficiency of radio-frequency quadrupole(RFQ) to over $85\%$ within 2 minutes. The outcomes of these two experiments offer substantiation that our proposed TBSAC approach can efficiently and effectively accomplish beam commissioning tasks while upholding the same standard as skilled human experts. As such, our method exhibits potential for future applications in other accelerator commissioning fields.

Stochastic wave equation with additive fractional noise: solvability and global H\"older continuity

We determine the range of Hurst parameters that provide the necessary and sufficient conditions for the solvability, in $L^2(\Omega)$, of the stochastic wave equation: $ \frac{\partial^2 }{\partial t^2}u(t,x) =\Delta u(t,x)+\dot{W}(t,x)$, where $\{ W(t,x),\ t\geq 0, x\in \mathbb{R}^d\} $ is a fractional Brownian field with temporal Hurst parameter $H_0\in[\tfrac12,1]$ and spatial Hurst parameters $H_i\in(0,1)$ for $i=1,\cdots,d$. {In particular, the solvability condition exhibits a phase transition at $H_0 = 1$.} We also obtain the sharp growth rate and the sharp H\"older continuity of the solution on the real line in the case $H_0=1/2$.

In search of necessary and sufficient conditions to solve parabolic Anderson model with rough noise

This paper attempts to obtain necessary and sufficient conditions to solve the parabolic Anderson model with fractional Gaussian noises: $\frac{\partial}{\partial t}u(t,x)=\frac{1}{2}\Delta u(t,x)+u(t,x)\dot{W}(t,x)$, where $ {W}(t,x)$ is the fractional Brownian field with temporal Hurst parameter $H_0\in [1/2, 1) $ and spatial Hurst parameters $H$ $ =(H_1, \cdots, H_d)$ $ \in (0, 1)^d$, and $\dot{W}(t,x)=\frac{\partial ^{d+1}}{\partial t \partial x_1 \cdots \partial x_d}W(t,x)$. When $d=1$ and when $(H_0,H)\in(\frac 12,1)\times(\frac 1{20},\frac 12)$ we show that the condition $2H_0+H>5/2$ is necessary and sufficient to ensure the existence of a unique solution for the parabolic Anderson Model. When $d\ge 2$, we find the necessary and sufficient condition on the Hurst parameters so that each chaos of the solution candidate is square integrable.

Nonlinear stochastic wave Equation driven by rough noise

In this paper, we obtain the existence and uniqueness of the strong solution to one spatial dimension stochastic wave equation $\frac{\partial^2 u(t,x)}{\partial t^2}=\frac{\partial^2 u(t,x)}{\partial x^2}+σ(t,x,u(t,x))\dot{W}(t,x)$ assuming $σ(t,x,0)=0$, where $\dot W$ is a mean zero Gaussian noise which is white in time and fractional in space with Hurst parameter $H\in(1/4, 1/2)$.

In this paper, we investigate a class of nonlinear backward stochastic differential equations (BSDEs) arising from financial economics, and give specific information about the nodal sets of the related solutions. As applications, we are able to obtain the explicit solutions to an interesting class of nonlinear BSDEs including the k-ignorance BSDE arising from the modeling of ambiguity of asset pricing.
