Blocks and characters of $D(2|1;ζ)$-modules of non-integral weights

We classify blocks in the BGG category $\mathcal O$ of modules of non-integral weights for the exceptional Lie superalgebra $D(2|1;ζ)$. We establish various reduction methods, which connect some types of non-integral blocks of $D(2|1;ζ)$ with integral blocks of general linear Lie superalgebras $\mathfrak{gl}{(1|1)}$ and $\mathfrak{gl}{(2|1)}$. We compute the characters for irreducible $D(2|1;ζ)$-modules of non-integral weights in $\mathcal O$.

Twisted-light-revealed Lightlike Exciton Dispersion in Monolayer MoS2

Twisted light carries a well-defined orbital angular momentum (OAM) per photon. The quantum number l of its OAM can be arbitrarily set, making it an excellent light source to realize high-dimensional quantum entanglement and ultra-wide bandwidth optical communication structures. To develop solid-state optoelectronic systems compatible with such promising light sources, a timely challenging task is to efficiently and coherently transfer the optical OAM of light to certain solid-state optoelectronic materials. Among the state-of-the-art emergent materials, atomically thin monolayer transition metal dichalcogenide (ML-TMD), featured by ultra-strong light-matter interaction due to its reduced dimensionality, renders itself a potential material suitable for novel applications. In this study, we carried out photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy studies of ML-MoS2 under photoexcitation of twisted light with well-defined quantized OAM. We mainly observed pronounced increases in the spectral peak energy for every increment of l of the incident twisted light. The observed non-linear l-dependence of the spectral blue shifts evidences the OAM transfer from the exciting twisted light to the valley excitons in ML-TMDs, which is well accounted for by our analysis and computational simulation. Even more excitingly, the twisted light excitation is shown to make excitonic transitions relative to the transferred OAM, enabling us to infer the exciton band dispersion from the measured spectral shifts. Consequently, the measured non-linear l-dependent spectral shifts revealed an unusual lightlike exciton band dispersion of valley excitons in ML-TMDs that is predicted by previous theoretical studies and evidenced for the first time via our experimental setup that utilizes the unique twisted light source.

Tilting modules for classical Lie superalgebras

We study tilting and projective-injective modules in a parabolic BGG category $\mathcal O$ for an arbitrary classical Lie superalgebra. We establish a version of Ringel duality for this type of Lie superalgebras which allows to express the characters of tilting modules in terms of those of simple modules in that category. We also obtain a classification of projective-injective modules in the full BGG category $\mathcal O$ for all simple classical Lie superalgebras. We then classify and give an explicit combinatorial description of parabolic subalgebras of the periplectic Lie superalgebras and apply our results to study their tilting modules in more detail.

Distinctive signatures of the spin- and momentum-forbidden dark exciton states in the photo-luminescences of strained WSe$_2$ monolayers under thermalization

With the both spin and valley degrees of freedom, the low-lying excitonic spectra of photo-excited transition-metal dichalcogenide monolayers (TMDC-MLs) are featured by rich fine structures, comprising the intra-valley bright exciton states as well as various intra- and inter-valley dark ones. The latter states can be classified as those of the spin- and momentum-forbidden dark excitons according to the violated optical selection rules. Because of the optical invisibility, the two types of the dark states are in general hardly observed and even distinguished in conventional spectroscopies although their impacts on the optical and dynamical properties of TMDC-MLs have been well noticed. In this Letter, we present a theoretical and computational investigation of the exciton fine structures and the temperature-dependent photo-luminescence spectra of strained tungsten diselenide monolayers (WSe$_2$-MLs) where the intra-valley spin-forbidden dark exciton lies in the lowest exciton states and other momentum-forbidden states are in the higher energies that are tunable by external stress. The numerical computations are carried out by solving the Bethe-Salpeter equation for an exciton in a WSe$_2$-ML under the stress-control in the tight-binding scheme established from the first principle computation in the density functional theory. According to the numerical computation and supportive model analysis, we reveal the distinctive signatures of the spin- and momentum-forbidden exciton states of strained WSe$_2$-MLs in the temperature-dependent photo-luminescences and present the guiding principle to infer the relative energetic locations of the two types of DX's.

Optimal electro-mechanical control of the excitonic fine structures of droplet epitaxial quantum dots

The intrinsic fine structure splittings (FSSs) of the exciton states of semiconductor quantum dots (QDs) are known to be the major obstacle for realizing the QD-based entangled photon pair emitters. In this study, we present a theoretical and computational investigation of the excitonic fine structures of droplet-epitaxial (DE) GaAs/AlGaAs QDs under the electro-mechanical control of micro-machined piezoelectricity actuators. From the group theory analysis with numerical confirmation based on the developed exciton theory, we reveal the general principle for the optimal design of micro-machined actuators whose application on to an elongated QD can certainly suppress its FSS. We show that the use of two independently tuning stresses is sufficient to achieve the FSS-elimination but is not always necessary as widely deemed. The use of a single tuning stress to eliminate the FSS of an elongated QD is possible as long as the crystal structure of the actuator material is in coincidence with that of the QD. As a feasible example, we show that a {\it single} symmetric bi-axial stress naturally generated from the $(001)$ PMN-PT actuator can be used as a single tuning knob to make the full FSS-elimination for elongated DE GaAs QDs.

Character formulae in category $\mathcal O$ for exceptional Lie superalgebras $D(2|1;ζ)$

We establish character formulae for representations of the one-parameter family of simple Lie superalgebras $D(2|1;ζ)$. We provide a complete description of the Verma flag multiplicities of the tilting modules and the projective modules in the BGG category $\mathcal O$ of $D(2|1;ζ)$-modules of integral weights, for any complex parameter $ζ$. The composition factors of all Verma modules in $\mathcal O$ are then obtained.

Supercharacters of queer Lie superalgebras

Let $\mathfrak g=\mathfrak g_{\bar 0}\oplus\mathfrak g_{\bar 1}$ be the queer Lie superalgebra and let $L$ be a finite-dimensional non-trivial irreducible $\mathfrak g$-module. Restricting the $\mathfrak g$-action on $L$ to $\mathfrak g_{\bar 0}$, we show that the space of $\mathfrak g_{\bar 0}$-invariants $L^{\mathfrak g_{\bar 0}}$ is trivial. As a consequence we establish a conjecture first formulated by Gorelik, Grantcharov and Mazorchuk on the triviality of the supercharacter of irreducible $\mathfrak g$-modules in the case when the modules are finite dimensional.

Character formulae for queer Lie superalgebras and canonical bases of types $A/C$

For the BGG category of $\mathfrak{q}(n)$-modules of half-integer weights, a Kazhdan-Lusztig conjecture à la Brundan is formulated in terms of categorical canonical basis of the $n$th tensor power of the natural representation of the quantum group of type $C$. For the BGG category of $\mathfrak{q}(n)$-modules of congruent non-integral weights, a Kazhdan-Lusztig conjecture is formulated in terms of canonical basis of a mixed tensor of the natural representation and its dual of the quantum group of type $A$. We also establish a character formula for the finite-dimensional irreducible $\mathfrak{q}(n)$-modules of half-integer weights in terms of type $C$ canonical basis of the corresponding $q$-wedge space.

Quantum group of type $A$ and representations of queer Lie superalgebra

We establish a maximal parabolic version of the Kazhdan-Lusztig conjecture \cite[Conjecture 5.10]{CKW} for the BGG category $\mathcal{O}_{k,ζ}$ of $\mathfrak{q}(n)$-modules of "$\pm ζ$-weights", where $k\leq n$ and $ζ\in\mathbb{C} \setminus \frac{1}{2} \mathbb{Z}$. As a consequence, the irreducible characters of these $\mathfrak{q}(n)$-modules in this maximal parabolic category are given by the Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials of type $A$ Lie algebras. As an application, closed character formulas for a class of $\mathfrak{q}(n)$-modules resembling polynomial and Kostant modules of the general linear Lie superalgebras are obtained.

Kac-Wakimoto character formula for ortho-symplectic Lie superalgebras

We classify finite-dimensional tame modules over the ortho-symplectic Lie superalgebras. For these modules we show that their characters are given by the Kac-Wakimoto character formula, thus establishing the Kac-Wakimoto conjecture for the ortho-symplectic Lie superalgebras. We further relate the Kac-Wakimoto formula to the super Jacobi polynomials of Sergeev and Veselov, and show that these polynomials, up to a sign, give the super characters for these tame modules.

Finite-dimensional half-integer weight modules over queer Lie superalgebras

We give a new interpretation of representation theory of the finite-dimensional half-integer weight modules over the queer Lie superalgebra $\mathfrak{q}(n)$. It is given in terms of Brundan's work of finite-dimensional integer weight $\mathfrak{q}(n)$-modules by means of Lusztig's canonical basis. Using this viewpoint we compute the characters of the finite-dimensional half-integer weight irreducible modules. For a large class of irreducible modules whose highest weights are of special types (i.e., totally connected or totally disconnected) we derive closed-form character formulas that are reminiscent of Kac-Wakimoto character formula for classical Lie superalgebras.

Finger-gate manipulated quantum transport in Dirac materials

We investigate the quantum transport properties of multichannel nanoribbons made of materials described by the Dirac equation, under an in-plane magnetic field. In the low energy regime, positive and negative finger-gate potentials allow the electrons to make intra-subband transitions via hole-like or electron-like quasibound states (QBS), respectively, resulting in dips in the conductance. In the high energy regime, double dip structures in the conductance are found, attributed to spin-flip or spin-nonflip inter-subband transitions through the QBSs. Inverting the finger-gate polarity offers the possibility to manipulate the spin polarized electronic transport to achieve a controlled spin-switch.

Exposure of the Hidden Anti-Ferromagnetism in Paramagnetic CdSe:Mn Nanocrystals

We present theoretical and experimental investigations of the magnetism of paramagnetic semiconductor CdSe:Mn nanocrystals and propose an efficient approach to the exposure and analysis of the underlying anti-ferromagnetic interactions between magnetic ions therein. A key advance made here is the build-up of an analysis method with the exploitation of group theory technique that allows us to distinguish the anti-ferromagnetic interactions between aggregative Mn2+ ions from the overall pronounced paramagnetism of magnetic ion doped semiconductor nanocrystals. By using the method, we clearly reveal and identify the signatures of anti-ferromagnetism from the measured temperature dependent magnetisms, and furthermore determine the average number of Mn2+ ions and the fraction of aggregative ones in the measured CdSe:Mn nanocrystals.

Mechanically induced pseudo-magnetic fields in the excitonic fine structures of droplet epitaxial quantum dots

We present numerical investigations based on the Luttinger-Kohn four-band $k \cdot p$ theory and, accordingly, establish a quantitatively valid model of the excitonic fine structures of droplet epitaxial GaAs/AlGaAs quantum dots under uni-axial stress control. In the formalisms, stressing a photo-excited quantum dot is equivalent creating a pseudo-magnetic field that is directly coupled to the pseudo-spin of the exciton doublet and tunable to tailor the polarized fine structure of exciton. The latter feature is associated with the valence-band-mixing of exciton that is especially sensitive to external stress in inherently unstrained droplet epitaxial GaAs/AlGaAs quantum dots and allows us to mechanically design and prepare any desired exciton states of QD photon sources prior to the photon generation.

Double-finger-gate controlled spin-resolved resonant quantum transport in the presence of a Rashba-Zeeman gap

We investigate double finger gate (DFG) controlled spin-resolved resonant transport properties in an n-type quantum channel with a Rashba-Zeeman (RZ) subband energy gap. By appropriately tuning the DFG in the strong Rashba coupling regime, resonant state structures in conductance can be found that is sensitive to the length of the DFG system. Furthermore, a hole-like bound state feature below the RZ gap and an electron-like quasi-bound state feature at the threshold of the upper spin branch can be found that is insensitive to the length of the DFG system.

Irreducible Characters of Kac-Moody Lie superalgebras

Generalizing the super duality formalism for finite-dimensional Lie superalgebras of type $ABCD$, we establish an equivalence between parabolic BGG categories of a Kac-Moody Lie superalgebra and a Kac-Moody Lie algebra. The characters for a large family of irreducible highest weight modules over a symmetrizable Kac-Moody Lie superalgebra are then given in terms of Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials for the first time. We formulate a notion of integrable modules over a symmetrizable Kac-Moody Lie superalgebra via super duality, and show that these integrable modules form a semisimple tensor subcategory, whose Littlewood-Richardson tensor product multiplicities coincide with those in the Kac-Moody algebra setting.
