Disentangling mass spectra of multiple fields in cosmological collider

We study effects of multiple scalar fields (scalar isocurvatons) with the Hubble scale masses on the inflationary bispectrum in the squeezed limit, particular paying attention to the question how to disentangle mass spectra of such fields. We consider two isocurvatons with almost degenerate masses and the coupling of an inflaton to both isocurvatons as an example. We find that the characteristic feature associated with nearly degenerate masses appears in the oscillating part of the bispectrum, which is dominated by a waveform with a specific wavelength roughly given by an inverse of the mass difference. Such a waveform with a relatively longer wavelength can be easily identified and useful for disentangling almost degenerate mass spectra. This situation is in sharp contrast with the case of collider experiments on earth, where the very precise energy resolution corresponding to the mass difference is required to disentangle almost degenerate mass spectra. Therefore, if future observations could detect this kind of a characteristic feature in bispectrum of the primordial curvature perturbations, it can prove the existence of degenerate multiple particles around the Hubble scale and resolve their mass degeneracies.

Fate of domain walls in 5D gravitational theory with compact extra dimension

We pursue the time evolution of the domain walls in 5D gravitational theory with a compact extra dimension by numerical calculation. In order to avoid a kink-antikink pair that decays into the vacuum, we introduce a topological winding in the field space. In contrast to the case of non-gravitational theories, there is no static domain-wall solution in the setup. In the case that the minimal value of the potential is non-negative, we find that both the 3D space and the extra dimension will expand at late times if the initial value of the Hubble parameter is chosen as positive. The wall width almost remains constant during the evolution. In other cases, the extra dimension diverges and the 3D space shrinks to zero at a finite time.

Minimal Starobinsky supergravity coupled to dilaton-axion superfield

The minimal Starobinsky supergravity with the inflaton (scalaron) and the goldstino in a massive vector supermultiplet is coupled to the dilaton-axion chiral superfield with the no-scale Kähler potential and a superpotential. The Kachru-Kallosh-Linde-Trivedi (KKLT)-type mechanism in the presence of a constant term in the superpotential is applied to stabilize the dilaton/axion during inflation, and it is shown to lead to an instability. The instability is cured by adding the alternative Fayet-Iliopoulos (FI) term that does not lead to the gauged $R$-symmetry. Other stabilization mechanisms, based on the Wess-Zumino (WZ)-type superpotential, are also studied in the presence of the FI term. A possible connection to a D3-brane is briefly discussed too.

ALP Constraints in Gauged $\mathcal{N}=2$ Supergravity

We discuss a possibility of restricting parameters in $\mathcal{N}=2$ supergravity based on axion observations. We derive conditions that prepotential and gauge couplings should satisfy. Such conditions not only allow us to constrain the theory but also provide the lower bound of $\mathcal{N}=2\rightarrow\mathcal{N}=1$ breaking scale.

Behaviors of two supersymmetry breaking scales in $\mathcal{N}=2$ supergravity

We study the supersymmetry breaking patterns in four-dimensional $\mathcal{N}=2$ gauged supergravity. The model contains multiple (Abelian) vector multiplets and a single hypermultiplet which parametrizes SO$(4,1)/{\rm{SO}}(4)$ coset. We derive the expressions of two gravitino masses under {\it{general}} gaugings and prepotential based on the embedding tensor formalism, and discuss their behaviors in some concrete models. Then we confirm that in a single vector multiplet case, the partial breaking always occurs when the third derivative of the prepotential exists at the vacuum, which is consistent with the result of Ref.~\cite{Antoniadis:2018blk}, but we can have several breaking patterns otherwise. The discussion is also generalized to the case of multiple vector multiplets, and we found that the full ($\mathcal{N}=0$) breaking occurs even if the third derivative of the prepotential is nontrivial.

Polonyi-Starobinsky supergravity with inflaton in a massive vector multiplet with DBI and FI terms

We propose the Starobinsky-type inflationary model in the matter-coupled $N=1$ four-dimensional supergravity with the massive vector multiplet that has inflaton (scalaron) and goldstino amongst its field components, whose action includes the Dirac-Born-Infeld-type kinetic term and the generalized (new) Fayet-Iliopoulos-type term, without gauging the R-symmetry. The $N=1$ chiral matter ("hidden sector") is described by the modified Polonyi model needed for spontaneous supersymmetry breaking after inflation. We compute the bosonic action and the scalar potential of the model, and show that it can accommodate the positive (observed) cosmological constant (as the dark energy) and the spontaneous supersymmetry breaking at high scale after the Starobinsky inflation.

Interpolation of partial and full supersymmetry breakings in $\cal{N} = 2$ supergravity

We discuss an $\cal{N}=2$ supergravity model that interpolates the full and the partial supersymmetry breakings. In particular, we find the conditions for an $\cal{N}=0$ Minkowski vacuum, which is continuously connected to the partial-breaking ($\cal{N}=1$ preserving) one. The model contains multiple (Abelian) vector multiplets and a single hypermultiplet, and is constructed by employing the embedding tensor technique. We compute the mass spectrum on the Minkowski vacuum, and find some non-trivial mass relations among the massive fields. Our model allows us to choose the two supersymmetry-breaking scales independently, and to discuss the cascade supersymmetry breaking for the applications to particle phenomenology and cosmology.

${\cal N}=1$ superfield description of BPS solutions in 6D gauged SUGRA with 3-branes

We provide ${\cal N}=1$ superfield description of BPS backgrounds in six-dimensional supergravity (6D SUGRA) with 3-branes, which is compactified on a two-dimensional space. The brane terms induce the localized fluxes. We find a useful gauge in which the background equations become significantly simple. This is not the Wess-Zumino gauge, and the relation to the usual component-field expression of 6D SUGRA is not straightforward. One of the equations reduces to the Liouville equation. By moving to the Wess-Zumino gauge, we check that our expressions reproduce the known results of the previous works, which are expressed in the component fields. Our results help us develop the systematic derivation of four-dimensional effective theories that keeps the ${\cal N}=1$ SUSY structure.

Massive vector multiplet with Dirac-Born-Infeld and new Fayet-Iliopoulos terms in supergravity

We propose a four-dimensional N = 1 supergravity-based Starobinsky-type inflationary model in terms of a single massive vector multiplet, whose action includes the Dirac-Born-Infeld-type kinetic terms and a generalized (new) Fayet-Iliopolulos-type term without gauging the R-symmetry. The bosonic action and the scalar potential are computed. Inflaton is the superpartner of goldstino in our model, and supersymmetry is spontaneously broken after inflation by the D-type mechanism, whose scale is related to the value of the cosmological constant.

Full diffeomorphism and Lorentz invariance in 4D ${\cal N}=1$ superfield description of 6D SUGRA

We complete the four-dimensional ${\cal N}=1$ superfield description of six-dimensional supergravity. The missing ingredients in the previous works are the superfields that contain the sechsbein $e_4^{\;\;\underlineν}$, $e_5^{\;\;\underlineν}$, $e_μ^{\;\;\underline{4}}$, $e_μ^{\;\;\underline{5}}$ and the second gravitino. They are necessary to make the action invariant under the diffeomorphisms and the Lorentz transformations involving the extra dimensions. We find the corresponding superfield transformation laws, and show the invariance of the action under them. We also check that the resultant action reproduces the known superfield description of five-dimensional supergravity through the dimensional reduction.

More on DBI action in 4D $\mathcal{N}=1$ supergravity

We construct a Dirac-Born-Infeld (DBI) action coupled to a two-form field in four dimensional $\mathcal{N}=1$ supergravity. Our superconformal formulation of the action shows a universal way to construct it in various Poincaré supergravity formulations. We generalize the DBI action to that coupled to matter sector. We also discuss duality transformations of the DBI action, which are useful for phenomenological and cosmological applications.

Abelian tensor hierarchy in 4D ${\cal N}=1$ conformal supergravity

We consider Abelian tensor hierarchy in four-dimensional ${\cal N}=1$ supergravity in the conformal superspace formalism, where the so-called covariant approach is used to antisymmetric tensor fields. We introduce $p$-form gauge superfields as superforms in the conformal superspace. We solve the Bianchi identities under the constraints for the superforms. As a result, each of form fields is expressed by a single gauge invariant superfield. The action of superforms is shown with the invariant superfields. We also show the relation between the superspace formalism and the superconformal tensor calculus.

DBI action of real linear superfield in 4D ${\cal N}=1$ conformal supergravity

We construct the Dirac-Born-Infeld (DBI) action of a real linear multiplet in 4D $\mathcal{N}=1$ supergravity. Based on conformal supergravity, we derive the general condition under which the DBI action can be realized, and show that it can be constructed in the new minimal supergravity. We also generalize it to the matter coupled system.

Impacts of supersymmetric higher derivative terms on inflation models in supergravity

We show the effects of supersymmetric higher derivative terms on inflation models in supergravity. The results show that such terms generically modify the effective kinetic coefficient of the inflaton during inflation if the cut off scale of the higher derivative operators is sufficiently small. In such a case, the $η$-problem in supergravity does not occur, and we find that the effective potential of the inflaton generically becomes a power type potential with a power smaller than two.

Illustrating SUSY breaking effects on various inflation mechanisms

We consider the supersymmetry breaking effects on typical inflation models with different types of Kähler potential. The critical size of supersymmetry-breaking scale, above which the flatness of the inflaton potential is spoiled, drastically changes model by model. We present the universal description of such effects in terms of a field-dependent scaling factor by which gravity-mediated supersymmetry breaking terms are suppressed or enhanced, based on the conformal supergravity framework. Such a description would be useful when we estimate them in constructing supersymmetric models of particle cosmology.

Inflation in supergravity without Kahler potential

We propose a new class of inflation models in supergravity with higher derivative terms. In those models, the Kähler potential does not contain the inflaton multiplet, but a supersymmetric derivative term does. In the models, inflation is effectively driven by a single scalar field with a standard kinetic term and a scalar potential. Remarkably, the so-called $η$ problem does not exist in our models.
