Exploring new physics in the angular distribution of $\bar B\rightarrow D^*(\rightarrow Dπ)τ^-(\rightarrow V^-ν_τ)\barν_τ$

The decays $\bar{B}\rightarrow D^*τ^{-}\barν_τ$ provide sensitive probes of new physics in the $b\rightarrow cτν$ transition. We discuss the effects of new physics in the decay chain $\bar{B}\rightarrow D^*(\rightarrow Dπ)τ^{-}(\rightarrow V^-ν_τ)\barν_τ$ where $V$ is a vector meson. We first present a comprehensive analysis of the five-dimensional angular distribution for the full decay chain $\bar{B}\rightarrow D^*(\rightarrow Dπ)τ^{-}(\rightarrow ρ^-ν_τ)\barν_τ$, exploiting the hadronic $τ$ decay to $ρ^-ν_τ$ to circumvent the experimental challenge of direct $τ$ reconstruction. The differential decay rate is expressed in terms of measurable kinematic variables $θ^*$, $E_ρ$, $θ_ρ$, $χ_ρ$, and $q^2$ -- with complete coefficient functions provided for scalar, pseudoscalar, vector, axialvector, and tensor new-physics interactions. From this distribution we construct a set of integrated observables, including the $D^*$ polarization fractions and lepton-side forward-backward and azimuthal asymmetries, which isolate distinct combinations of helicity amplitudes. We further perform a numerical analysis using current experimental data on $R_{D^*}$ and the $D^*$ longitudinal polarization fraction $\langle F_L^{D^*}\rangle$ to constrain the complex new-physics couplings $g_L$, $g_R$, $g_P$, and $g_T$, revealing the correlations among them. Our formalism is also applicable to $τ\to a_1 ν_τ$, where the $3π$ final states mainly come from the $a_1$ meson. The framework established here provides a powerful tool for disentangling new-physics scenarios with future high-statistics data.

A generalized motif-based Naïve Bayes model for sign prediction in complex networks

Signed networks, encoding both positive and negative interactions, are essential for modeling complex systems in social and financial domains. Sign prediction, which infers the sign of a target link, has wide-ranging practical applications. Traditional motif-based Naïve Bayes models assume that all neighboring nodes contribute equally to a target link's sign, overlooking the heterogeneous influence among neighbors and potentially limiting performance. To address this, we propose a generalizable sign prediction framework that explicitly models the heterogeneity. Specifically, we design two role functions to quantify the differentiated influence of neighboring nodes. We further extend this approach from a single motif to multiple motifs via two strategies. The generalized multiple motifs-based Naïve Bayes model linearly combines information from diverse motifs, while the Feature-driven Generalized Motif-based Naïve Bayes (FGMNB) model integrates high-dimensional motif features using machine learning. Extensive experiments on four real-world signed networks show that FGMNB consistently outperforms five state-of-the-art embedding-based baselines on three of these networks. Moreover, we observe that the most predictive motif structures differ across datasets, highlighting the importance of local structural patterns and offering valuable insights for motif-based feature engineering. Our framework provides an effective and theoretically grounded solution to sign prediction, with practical implications for enhancing trust and security in online platforms.

A Necessary and Sufficient Entanglement Criterion of N-qubit System Based on Correlation Tensor

Great advances have been achieved in studying characteristics of entanglement for fundamentals of quantum mechanics and quantum information processing. However, even for N-qubit systems, the problem of entanglement criterion has not been well solved. In this Letter, using the method of state decomposition and high order singular value decomposition (HOSVD), we propose a necessary and sufficient entanglement criterion for general N-qubit systems. As an example, we apply our method to study the multi-qubit W state with white noise. We not only obtain the separability critical point, which is tight and thus better than known results, but also the separate states ensemble for decomposition. More examples are presented to show our criterion is accurate, which is tighter than the well-known positive partial transpose criterion. For two-qubit case, we can provide an entanglement measurer which gives similar results with concurrence up to a factor. Our results pave the way to solve the entanglement-separability criterion for more general cases.

Quantum Coherence in a Quantum Heat Engine

We identify that quantum coherence is a valuable resource in the quantum heat engine, which is designed in a quantum thermodynamic cycle assisted by a quantum Maxwell's demon. This demon is in a superposed state. The quantum work and heat are redefined as the sum of coherent and incoherent parts in the energy representation. The total quantum work and the corresponding efficiency of the heat engine can be enhanced due to the coherence consumption of the demon. In addition, we discuss an universal information heat engine driven by quantum coherence. The extractable work of this heat engine is limited by the quantum coherence, even if it has no classical thermodynamic cost. This resource-driven viewpoint provides a direct and effective way to clarify the thermodynamic processes where the coherent superposition of states cannot be ignored.

Coherence transformations in single qubit systems

We investigate the single qubit transformations under several typical coherence-free operations, such as, incoherent operation (IO), strictly incoherent operation (SIO), physically incoherent operation (PIO), and coherence preserving operation (CPO). Quantitative connection has been built between IO and SIO in single qubit systems. Moreover, these coherence-free operations have a clear hierarchical relationship in single qubit systems: CPO $\subset$ PIO $\subset$ SIO=IO. A new and explicit proof for the necessary and sufficient condition of single qubit transformation via IO or SIO has been provided, which indicates that SIO with only two Kraus operators are enough to realize this transformation. The transformation regions of single qubits via CPO and PIO are also given. Our method provides a geometric illustration to analyze single qubit coherence transformations by introducing the Bloch sphere depiction of the transformation regions, and tells us how to construct the corresponding coherence-free operations.

The Geometric Structure of Quantum Resources for Bell-diagonal states

Two-qubit Bell-diagonal states can be depicted as a tetrahedron in three dimensions. We investigate the structure of quantum resources, including coherence and quantum discord, in the tetrahedron. The ordering of different resources measures is a common problem in resource theories, and which measure should be chosen to investigate the structure of resources is still an open question. We consider the structure of quantum resources which is not affected by the choice of measure. Our work provides a complete structure of coherence and quantum discord for Bell-diagonal states. The pictorial approach also indicates how to explore the structure of resources even when we don't have consistent measure of a concrete quantum resource.

The role of coherence during classical and quantum decoherence

The total correlations in a bipartite quantum system are measured by the quantum mutual information $\mathcal{I}$, which consists of quantum discord and classical correlation. However, recent results in quantum information shows that coherence, which is a part of total correlation, is more general and more fundamental than discord. The role of coherence in quantum resource theories is worthwhile to investigate. We first study the relation between quantum discord and coherence by reducing the difference between them. And then, we consider the dynamics of quantum discord, classical correlations and quantum coherence under incoherent quantum channels. We discover that coherence indicate the behavior of quantum discord (classical correlation) for times $t<\bar t$, and indicate the decoherence of classical correlation (quantum discord) for times $t>\bar t$. What is more, the coherence frozen and decay indicate the quantum discord and classical correlation frozen and decay respectively.

Coherence depletion in the Grover quantum search algorithm

We investigate the role of quantum coherence depletion (QCD) in Grover search algorithm (GA) by using several typical measures of quantum coherence and quantum correlations. By using the relative entropy of coherence measure ($\mathcal{C}_r$), we show that the success probability depends on the QCD. The same phenomenon is also found by using the $l_1$ norm of coherence measure ($\mathcal{C}_{l_1}$). In the limit case, the cost performance is defined to characterize the behavior about QCD in enhancing the success probability of GA, which is only related to the number of searcher items and the scale of database, no matter using $\mathcal{C}_r$ or $\mathcal{C}_{l_1}$. In generalized Grover search algorithm (GGA), the QCD for a class of states increases with the required optimal measurement time. In comparison, the quantification of other quantum correlations in GA, such as pairwise entanglement, multipartite entanglement, pairwise discord and genuine multipartite discord, cannot be directly related to the success probability or the optimal measurement time. Additionally, we do not detect pairwise nonlocality or genuine tripartite nonlocality in GA since Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt inequality and Svetlichny's inequality are not violated.

Coherence as resource in scattering quantum walk search on complete graph

We investigate the behavior of coherence in scattering quantum walk search on complete graph under the condition that the total number of vertices of the graph is greatly larger than the marked number of vertices we are searching, $N \gg v$. We find that the consumption of coherence represents the increase of the success probability for the searching, also the consumption of coherence is related to the efficiency of the algorithm represented by oracle queries. If no coherence is consumed, the efficiency of the algorithm will be the same as the classical blind search, implying that coherence is responsible for the speed up in this quantum algorithm over its classical counterpart. In case the initial state is incoherent, still $N \gg v$ is assumed, the probability of success for searching will not change with time, indicating that this quantum search algorithm loses its power. We then conclude that the coherence plays an essential role and is responsible for the speed up in this quantum algorithm.

Steering Bell-diagonal states

We investigate the steerability of two-qubit Bell-diagonal states under projective measurements by the steering party. In the simplest nontrivial scenario of two projective measurements, we solve this problem completely by virtue of the connection between the steering problem and the joint-measurement problem. A necessary and sufficient criterion is derived together with a simple geometrical interpretation. Our study shows that a Bell-diagonal state is steerable by two projective measurements iff it violates the Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt (CHSH) inequality, in sharp contrast with the strict hierarchy expected between steering and Bell nonlocality. We also introduce a steering measure and clarify its connections with concurrence and the volume of the steering ellipsoid. In particular, we determine the maximal concurrence and ellipsoid volume of Bell-diagonal states that are not steerable by two projective measurements. Finally, we explore the steerability of Bell-diagonal states under three projective measurements. A simple sufficient criterion is derived, which can detect the steerability of many states that are not steerable by two projective measurements. Our study offers valuable insight on steering of Bell-diagonal states as well as the connections between entanglement, steering, and Bell nonlocality.

Phase diagram of quantum critical system via local convertibility of ground state

We investigate the relationship between two kinds of ground-state local convertibility and quantum phase transitions in XY model. The local operations and classical communications (LOCC) convertibility is examined by the majorization relations and the entanglement-assisted local operations and classical communications (E- LOCC) via Renyi entropy interception. In the phase diagram of XY model, LOCC convertibility and ELOCC convertibility of ground-states are presented and compared. It is shown that different phases in the phase dia- gram of XY model can have different LOCC or ELOCC convertibility, which can be used to detect the quantum phase transition. This study will enlighten extensive studies of quantum phase transitions from the perspective of local convertibility, e.g., finite-temperature phase transitions and other quantum many-body models.

Majorization relation in quantum critical systems

The most basic local conversion is local operations and classical communications (LOCC), which is also the most natural restriction in quantum information processing. We investigate the conversions between the ground states in quantum critical systems via LOCC and propose an novel method to reveal the different convertibility via majorization relation when a quantum phase transition occurs. The ground-state local convertibility in the one-dimensional transverse field Ising model is studied. It is shown that the LOCC convertibility changes nearly at the phase transition point. The relation between the order of quantum phase transitions and the LOCC convertibility is discussed. Our results are compared with the corresponding results using the Renyi entropy and the LOCC convertibility with assisted entanglement.

Multipartite distribution property of one way discord beyond measurement

We investigate the distribution property of one way discord in multipartite system by introducing the concept of polygamy deficit for one way discord. The difference between one way discord and quantum discord is analogue to the difference between entanglement of assistance and entanglement of formation. For tripartite pure states, two kinds of polygamy deficits are presented with the equivalent expressions and physical interpretations regardless of measurement. For four-partite pure states, we provide a condition which makes one way discord polygamy being satisfied. Those results can be applicable to multipartite quantum systems and are complementary to our understanding of the shareability of quantum correlations.

Global quantum discord and quantum phase transition in XY model

We study the relationship between the behavior of global quantum correlations and quantum phase transitions in XY model. We find that the two kinds of phase transitions in the studied model can be characterized by the features of global quantum discord (GQD) and the corresponding quantum correlations. We demonstrate that the maximum of the sum of all the nearest neighbor bipartite GQDs is effective and accurate for signaling the Ising quantum phase transition, in contrast, the sudden change of GQD is very suitable for characterizing another phase transition in the XY model. This may shed lights on the study of properties of quantum correlations in different quantum phases.

Giant second harmonic generation by engineering of double plasmonic resonances at nanoscale

We have investigated second harmonic generation (SHG) from Ag-coated LiNbO3 (LN) core-shell nanocuboids and found that giant SHG can occur via deliberately designed double plasmonic resonances. By controlling the aspect ratio, we can tune fundamental wave (FW) and SHG signal to match the longitudinal and transverse plasmonic modes simultaneously, and achieve giant enhancement of SHG by more than five orders of magnitude in comparison to a bare LN nanocuboid and by about one order of magnitude to the case adopting only single plasmonic resonance. The underlying key physics is that the double-resonance nanoparticle enables greatly enhanced trapping and harvesting of incident FW energy, efficient internal transfer of optical energy from FW to SHW, and much improved power to transport the SHG energy from the nanoparticle to the far-field region. The proposed double-resonance nanostructure can serve as an efficient subwavelength coherent light source through SHG and enable flexible engineering of light-matter interaction at nanoscale.

General monogamy property of global quantum discord and the application

We provide a family of general monogamy inequalities for global quantum discord (GQD), which can be considered as an extension of the usual discord monogamy inequality. It can be shown that those inequalities are satisfied under the similar condition for the holding of usual monogamy relation. We find that there is an intrinsic connection among them. Furthermore, we present a different type of monogamy inequality and prove that it holds under the condition that the bipartite GQDs do not increase when tracing out some subsystems. We also study the residual GQD based on the second type of monogamy inequality. As applications of those quantities, we investigate the GQDs and residual GQD in characterizing the quantum phase transition in the transverse field Ising model.

Monogamy deficit for quantum correlation in multipartite quantum system

We introduce the concept of monogamy deficit for quantum correlation by combining together two types of monogamy inequalities depending on different measurement sides. For tripartite pure state, we demonstrate a relation which connects two types of monogamy inequalities for quantum discord and provide the difference between them. By using this relation, we obtain an unified physical interpretation for these two monogamy deficit. In addition, we find an interesting fact that there is a general monogamy condition for several quantum correlations for tripartite pure states. We then provide a necessary and sufficient condition for the establishment of one kind of monogamy inequality for tripartite mixed state and generalize it to multipartite quantum state.
