On groups definable in geometric fields with generic derivations

We study groups definable in existentially closed geometric fields with commuting derivations. Our main result is that such a group can be definably embedded in a group interpretable in the underlying geometric field. Compared to earlier work of the first two authors toguether with K. Peterzil, the novelty is that we also deal with infinite dimensional groups.

Imaginaries in equicharacteristic zero henselian fields

We classify the imaginaries in a large class of equicharacteristic zero henselian valued fields that contain all those with bounded inertia group, and more. To do so, we consider a mix of sorts introduced in earlier works of the two authors and prove elimination of imaginaries down to the field, the k-linear imaginaries and the imaginaries of the value group.

On residual domination and types orthogonal to the value group

We present a unifying framework of residual domination for (expansions of) henselian valued fields of equicharacteristic zero, encompassing some valued fields with operators. We show that the class of residually dominated types coincides with the types that are orthogonal to the value group, and with the class of types whose reduct to ACVF (the theory of algebraically closed valued fields with a non-trivial valuation) are generically stable. When the residue field is stable (resp. simple) we relate these equivalent notions to generic stability (resp. simplicity). Those results apply in particular to ultraproducts of $p$-adic fields and to the limit theory VFA$_{0}$ of algebraically closed valued fields of characteristic $p$ with the Frobenius automorphism (as $p$ tends to infinity).

Pseudo T-closed fields

Pseudo algebraically closed, pseudo real closed, and pseudo $p$-adically closed fields are examples of unstable fields that share many similarities, but have mostly been studied separately. In this text, we propose a unified framework for studying them: the class of pseudo $T$-closed fields, where $T$ is an enriched theory of fields. These fields verify a "local-global" principle for the existence of points on varieties with respect to models of $T$. This approach also enables a good description of some fields equipped with multiple $V$-topologies, particularly pseudo algebraically closed fields with a finite number of valuations. One important result is a (model theoretic) classification result for bounded pseudo $T$-closed fields, in particular we show that under specific hypotheses on $T$, these fields are NTP$_2$ of finite burden.

Valued fields, Metastable groups

We introduce a class of theories called metastable, including the theory of algebraically closed valued fields (ACVF) as a motivating example. The key local notion is that of definable types dominated by their stable part. A theory is metastable (over a sort $Γ$) if every type over a sufficiently rich base structure can be viewed as part of a $Γ$-parametrized family of stably dominated types. We initiate a study of definable groups in metastable theories of finite rank. Groups with a stably dominated generic type are shown to have a canonical stable quotient. Abelian groups are shown to be decomposable into a part coming from $Γ$, and a definable direct limit system of groups with stably dominated generic. In the case of ACVF, among definable subgroups of affine algebraic groups, we characterize the groups with stably dominated generics in terms of group schemes over the valuation ring. Finally, we classify all fields definable in ACVF.

Un principe d'Ax-Kochen-Ershov imaginaire

We study interpretable sets in henselian and sigma-henselian valued fields with value group elementarily equivalent to Q or Z. Our first result is an Ax-Kochen-Ershov type principle for weak elimination of imaginaries in finitely ramified characteristic zero henselian fields -- relative to value group imaginaries and residual linear imaginaries. We extend this result to the valued difference context and show, in particular, that existentially closed equicharacteristic zero multiplicative difference valued fields eliminate imaginaries in the geometric sorts; the omega-increasing case corresponds to the theory of the non-standard Frobenius automorphism acting on an algebraically closed valued field. On the way, we establish some auxiliary results on separated pairs of characteristic zero henselian fields and on imaginaries in linear structures which are also of independent interest.

Enriching a predicate and tame expansions of the integers

Given a structure $\mathcal{M}$ and a stably embedded $\emptyset$-definable set $Q$, we prove tameness preservation results when enriching the induced structure on $Q$ by some further structure $\mathcal{Q}$. In particular, we show that if $T=\text{Th}(\mathcal{M})$ and $\text{Th}(\mathcal{Q})$ are stable (resp., superstable, $ω$-stable), then so is the theory $T[\mathcal{Q}]$ of the enrichment of $\mathcal{M}$ by $\mathcal{Q}$. Assuming simplicity of $T$, elimination of hyperimaginaries and a further condition on $Q$ related to the behavior of algebraic closure, we also show that simplicity and NSOP$_1$ pass from $\text{Th}(\mathcal{Q})$ to $T[\mathcal{Q}]$. We then prove several applications for tame expansions of weakly minimal structures and, in particular, the group of integers. For example, we construct the first known examples of strictly stable expansions of $(\mathbb{Z},+)$. More generally, we show that any stable (resp., superstable, simple, NIP, NTP$_2$, NSOP$_1$) countable graph can be defined in a stable (resp., superstable, simple, NIP, NTP$_2$, NSOP$_1$) expansion of $(\mathbb{Z},+)$ by some unary predicate $A\subseteq\mathbb{N}$.

Hensel minimality II: Mixed characteristic and a diophantine application

In this paper together with the preceding Part I \cite{CHR}, we develop a framework for tame geometry on Henselian valued fields of characteristic zero, called Hensel minimality. It adds to \cite{CHR} the treatment of the mixed characteristic case. Hensel minimality is inspired by o-minimality and its role in real geometry and diophantine applications. We develop geometric results and applications for Hensel minimal structures that were previously known only under stronger or less axiomatic assumptions, and which often have counterparts in o-minimal structures. We prove a Jacobian property, a strong form of Taylor approximations of definable functions, resplendency results and cell decomposition, all under Hensel minimality, more precisely, $1$-h-minimality. We obtain a diophantine application of counting rational points of bounded height on Hensel minimal curves.

Hensel minimality I

We present a framework for tame geometry on Henselian valued fields which we call Hensel minimality. In the spirit of o-minimality, which is key to real geometry and several diophantine applications, we develop geometric results and applications for Hensel minimal structures that were previously known only under stronger, less axiomatic assumptions. We show existence of t-stratifications in Hensel minimal structures and Taylor approximation results which are key to non-archimedean versions of Pila-Wilkie point counting, Yomdin's parameterization results and to motivic integration. In this first paper we work in equi-characteristic zero; in the sequel paper, we develop the mixed characteristic case and a diophantine application.
