Mass Dependence of the Araki-Uhlmann Relative Entropy Across Dimensions

We investigate the mass dependence of the Araki-Uhlmann relative entropy between a localized coherent excitation and the vacuum state of a free scalar quantum field on the $(1+d)$-dimensional Minkowski spacetime for $d = 1, 2, 3$. In this context, the relative entropy admits a closed expression in terms of the smeared Pauli-Jordan distribution, whose analytic structure is sensitive to both the mass and the spacetime dimensionality. Prior studies in $(1+1)$ dimensions have shown a monotonic decay of the relative entropy with increasing mass. We extend that analysis to higher dimensions using numerical techniques and elucidate how the interplay between dimensionality and mass controls the behavior of the relative entropy. Our results provide new insights for the study of the Araki-Uhlmann relative entropy in QFT and its dependence on physical parameters.

Investigating the Araki-Uhlmann relative entropy between two coherent states in relativistic Quantum Field Theory

A numerical setup for investigating the Araki-Uhlmann relative entropy between two coherent states is presented for a scalar massive Quantum Field Theory in ($1+1$)-dimensional Minkowski spacetime. These states are constructed using smeared Weyl operators compactly supported in two diamond regions belonging to the right Rindler wedge. Using this setup, we verified the known properties of the relative entropy, namely: positivity, increase with the size of the spacetime regions considered, decrease with the increase of the mass parameter. A linear increase with respect to the spatial distance between the two diamond regions is also observed.

A numerical analysis of Araki-Uhlmann relative entropy in Quantum Field Theory

We numerically investigate the Araki-Uhlmann relative entropy in Quantum Field Theory, focusing on a free massive scalar field in 1+1-dimensional Minkowski spacetime. Using Tomita-Takesaki modular theory, we analyze the relative entropy between a coherent state and the vacuum state, with several types of test functions localized in the right Rindler wedge. Our results confirm that relative entropy decreases with increasing mass and grows with the size of the spacetime region, aligning with theoretical expectations.

Relative entropy of single-mode squeezed states in Quantum Field Theory

Utilizing the Tomita-Takesaki modular theory, we derive a closed-form analytic expression for the Araki-Uhlmann relative entropy between a single-mode squeezed state and the vacuum state in a free relativistic massive scalar Quantum Field Theory within wedge regions of Minkowski spacetime. Similarly to the case of coherent states, this relative entropy is proportional to the smeared Pauli-Jordan distribution. Consequently, the Araki-Uhlmann entropy between a single-mode squeezed state and the vacuum satisfies all expected properties: it remains positive, increases with the size of the Minkowski region under consideration, and decreases as the mass parameter grows.

Numerical approach to the Bell-Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt inequality in quantum field theory

The Bell-CHSH (Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt) inequality in the vacuum state of a relativistic scalar quantum field is analyzed. Using Weyl operators built with smeared fields localized in the Rindler wedges, the Bell-CHSH inequality is expressed in terms of the Lorentz invariant inner products of test functions. A numerical framework for these inner products is devised. Causality is also explicitly checked by a numerical evaluation of the Pauli-Jordan function. Violations of the Bell-CHSH inequality are reported for different values of the particle mass parameter.

Unruh-De Witt detectors, Bell-CHSH inequality and Tomita-Takesaki theory

The interaction between Unruh-De Witt spin $1/2$ detectors and a real scalar field is scrutinized by making use of the Tomita-Takesaki modular theory as applied to the Von Neumann algebra of the Weyl operators. The use of the modular theory enables to evaluate in an exact way the trace over the quantum field degrees of freedom. The resulting density matrix is employed to the study of the Bell-CHSH correlator. It turns out that, as a consequence of the interaction with the quantum field, the violation of the Bell-CHSH inequality exhibits a decreasing as compared to the case in which the scalar field is absent.

Using Weyl operators to study Mermin's inequalities in Quantum Field Theory

Mermin's inequalities are investigated in a Quantum Field Theory framework by using von Neumann algebras built with Weyl operators. We devise a general construction based on the Tomita-Takesaki modular theory and use it to compute the vacuum expectation value of the Mermin operator, analyzing the parameter space and explicitly exhibiting a violation of Mermin's inequalities. Therefore, relying on the power of modular operators, we are able to demonstrate that Mermin's inequalities are violated when examined within the vacuum state of a scalar field theory.

BRST invariant formulation of the Bell-CHSH inequality in gauge field theories

A study of the Bell-CHSH inequality in gauge field theories is presented. By using the Kugo-Ojima analysis of the BRST charge cohomology in Fock space, the Bell-CHSH inequality is formulated in a manifestly BRST invariant way. The examples of the free four-dimensional Maxwell theory and the Abelian Higgs model are scrutinized. The inequality is probed by using BRST invariant squeezed states, allowing for large Bell-CHSH inequality violations, close to Tsirelson's bound. An illustrative comparison with the entangled state of two $1/2$ spin particles in Quantum Mechanics is provided.

Maximal violation of the Bell-Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt inequality via bumpified Haar wavelets

We devise a general setup to investigate the violation of the Bell-CHSH inequality in the vacuum state in the context of Quantum Field Theory. We test the method with massless spinor fields in $(1+1)$-dimensional Minkowski space-time. Alice's and Bob's test functions are explicitly constructed, first by employing Haar wavelets which are then bumpified into proper test functions via a smoothening procedure relying on the Planck-taper window function. Relativistic causality is implemented by requiring the support of Alice's and Bob's test functions to be located in the left and right Rindler wedges, respectively. Violations of the Bell-CHSH inequality as close as desired to Tsirelson's bound are reported. We briefly comment on the extra portal, compared to earlier works, this opens to scrutinize Bell-CHSH inequalities with generic, interacting Quantum Field Theories.

Entangled coherent states and violations of Bell-CHSH inequalities

Three classes of entangled coherent states are employed to study the Bell-CHSH inequality. By using pseudospin operators in infinite dimensional Hilbert spaces, four dichotomic operators $(A,A',B,B')$ entering the inequality are constructed. For each class of coherent states, we compute the correlator $\langle ψ\vert A B + A' B + A B' - A' B' \vert ψ\rangle$, analyzing the set of parameters that leads to a Bell-CHSH inequality violation and, particularly, to the saturation of Tsirelson's bound.

Probing Mermin's inequalities violations through pseudospin operators

The violation of Mermin's inequalities is analyzed by making use of two different Bell setups built with pseudospin operators. Employing entangled states defined by means of squeezed and coherent states, the expectation value of Mermin's polynomials $M_n$ is evaluated for $n=3$ and $n=4$. In each case, we analyze the correlator $\langle M_n \rangle$ and identify the set of parameters leading to the violation of Mermin's inequalities and to the saturation of the bound predicted by Quantum Mechanics.

Infrared massive gluon propagator from a BRST-invariant Gribov horizon in a family of covariant gauges

A distinctive feature observed in lattice simulations of confining nonabelian gauge theories, such as Quantum Chromodynamics, is the presence of a dynamical mass for the gauge field in the low energy regime of the theory. In the Gribov-Zwanziger framework in the Landau gauge, such mass is a consequence of the generation of the dimension two condensates $\langle A_μ^aA_μ^a\rangle$ and $\langle \barφ_μ^{ab}φ_μ^{ab}-\barω_μ^{ab}ω_μ^{ab}\rangle$, where $A$ is the gluon field and the fields $\barφ$, $φ$, $\barω$, and $ω$ are Zwanziger's auxiliary fields. In this work, we show that, in the recently developed BRST-invariant version of the Refined Gribov-Zwanziger theory, these condensates can be introduced in a BRST-invariant way for a family of $R_ξ$ gauges. Their values are explicitly computed to first order and turn out to be independent of the gauge parameters contained in the gauge-fixing condition, as expected from the BRST invariance of the formulation. This fact supports the possibility of a gauge-parameter independent nonzero infrared gluon mass, whose value is the same as the one in the Landau gauge.

Chern--Simons--Yang--Mills system in presence of Gribov horizon with fundamental Higgs matter

In this work we study the behaviour of Yang--Mills--Chern--Simons theory coupled to a Higgs field in the fundamental representation by taking into account the effects of the presence of the Gribov horizon. By analyzing the infrared structure of the gauge field propagator, both confined and de-confined regions can be detected. The confined region corresponds to the appearance of complex poles in the propagators, while the de-confined one to the presence of real poles. One can move from one region to another by changing the parameters of the theory.

Features of the Refined Gribov-Zwanziger theory: propagators, BRST soft symmetry breaking and glueball masses

The present work discusses an approach to access the physical spectrum of the Yang-Mills theory quantized in the Landau gauge. By using recent lattice data on the gluon propagator, it is possible to study the two-point functions of gauge invariant composite operators, from which masses of glueballs can be extracted. It turns out that the momentum dependence of the gluon propagator is very well reproduced by the corresponding tree-level gluon propagator obtained from the Refined Gribov-Zwanziger theory, which takes into account the presence of the Gribov horizon as well as the effect of condensates of mass dimension two. The resulting glueball masses are in good agreement with the available lattice data

Non-perturbative analysis of the Gribov-Zwanziger action

In the non-perturbative regime the usual gauge fixing is not sufficient due to the Gribov problem. To deal with it one can restrict the integration in the path integral to the first Gribov region by using the Gribov-Zwanziger action. In its local form it features additional auxiliary fields which mix with the gluon at the two-point level. We present an explicit infrared analysis of this action. We show that from the two possible scaling solutions obtained previously only one remains: It coincides exactly with the results from the Faddeev-Popov action, i.e., the ghost propagator is infrared enhanced and the gluon propagator infrared suppressed and the corresponding power law behavior is described by only one parameter kappa=0.5953. This corroborates the argument by Zwanziger that for functional equations it suffices to take into account the appropriate boundary conditions and no explicit restriction in the path integral measure is required.

Infrared analysis of Dyson-Schwinger equations taking into account the Gribov horizon in Landau gauge

The low momentum behavior of the Landau gauge Gribov-Zwanziger action is investigated using the respective Dyson-Schwinger equations. Because of the mixing of the gluon and the auxiliary fields four scenarios can be distinguished for the infrared behavior. Two of them lead to inconsistencies and can be discarded. Another one corresponds to the case where the auxiliary fields behave exactly like the Faddeev-Popov ghosts and the same scaling relation as in standard Landau gauge, $\ka_A+2\ka_c=0$, is valid. Even the parameter $\ka$ is found to be the same, 0.595. The mixed propagators, which appear, are suppressed in all loops, and their anomalous infrared exponent can also be determined. A fourth case provides an even stricter scaling relation that includes also the mixed propagators, but possesses the same qualitative feature, i.e. the propagators of the Faddeev-Popov ghost and the auxiliary fields are infrared enhanced and the mixed and the gluon propagators are infrared suppressed. In this case the system of equations to obtain the parameter $\ka$ is non-linear in all variables.

Chern-Simons in the Seiberg-Witten map for non-commutative Abelian gauge theories in 4D

A cohomological BRST characterization of the Seiberg-Witten (SW) map is given. We prove that the coefficients of the SW map can be identified with elements of the cohomology of the BRST operator modulo a total derivative. As an example, it will be illustrated how the first coefficients of the SW map can be written in terms of the Chern-Simons three form. This suggests a deep topological and geometrical origin of the SW map. The existence of the map for both Abelian and non-Abelian case is discussed. By using a recursive argument and the associativity of the $\star$-product, we shall be able to prove that the Wess-Zumino consistency condition for non-commutative BRST transformations is fulfilled. The recipe of obtaining an explicit solution by use of the homotopy operator is briefly reviewed in the Abelian case.

Renormalizability of Nonrenormalizable Field Theories

We give a simple and elegant proof of the Equivalence Theorem, stating that two field theories related by nonlinear field transformations have the same S matrix. We are thus able to identify a subclass of nonrenormalizable field theories which are actually physically equivalent to renormalizable ones. Our strategy is to show by means of the BRS formalism that the "nonrenormalizable" part of such fake nonrenormalizable theories, is a kind of gauge fixing, being confined in the cohomologically trivial sector of the theory.
