A new upper bound for the Dirac operator on hypersurfaces

We prove a new upper bound for the first eigenvalue of the Dirac operator of a compact hypersurface in any Riemannian spin manifold carrying a non-trivial twistor spinor without zeros on the hypersurface. The upper bound is expressed as the first eigenvalue of a drifting Schrödinger operator on the hypersurface. Moreover, using a recent approach developed by O. Hijazi and S. Montiel, we completely characterize the equality case when the ambient manifold is the standard hyperbolic space.

Sharp bounds for the first eigenvalue of a fourth order Steklov problem

We study the biharmonic Steklov eigenvalue problem on a compact Riemannian manifold $Ω$ with smooth boundary. We give a computable, sharp lower bound of the first eigenvalue of this problem, which depends only on the dimension, a lower bound of the Ricci curvature of the domain, a lower bound of the mean curvature of its boundary and the inner radius. The proof is obtained by estimating the isoperimetric ratio of non-negative subharmonic functions on $Ω$, which is of independent interest. We also give a comparison theorem for geodesic balls.

On the first eigenvalue of the Dirichlet-to-Neumann operator on forms

We study a Dirichlet-to-Neumann eigenvalue problem for differential forms on a compact Riemannian manifold with smooth boundary. This problem is a natural generalization of the classical Steklov problem on functions. We derive a number of upper and lower bounds for the first eigenvalue in several contexts: many of these estimates will be sharp, and for some of them we characterize equality. We also relate these new eigenvalues with those of other operators, like the Hodge Laplacian or the biharmonic Steklov operator.

The Dirac operator on untrapped surfaces

We establish a sharp extrinsic lower bound for the first eigenvalue of the Dirac operator of an untrapped surface in initial data sets without apparent horizon in terms of the norm of its mean curvature vector. The equality case leads to rigidity results for the constraint equations with spherical boundary as well as uniqueness results for constant mean curvature surfaces in Minkowski space.

Rigidité conforme des hémisphères S^4_+ et S^6_+

Let (M,g) be a four or six dimensional compact Riemannian manifold which is locally conformally flat and assume that its boundary is totally umbilical. In this note, we prove that if the Euler characteristic of M is equal to 1 and if its Yamabe invariant is positive, then (M,g) is conformally isometric to the standard hemisphere. As an application and using a result of Hang-Wang, we prove a rigidity result for these hemispheres regarding the Min-Oo conjecture.

A Reilly formula and eigenvalue estimates for differential forms

We derive a Reilly-type formula for differential p-forms on a compact manifold with boundary and apply it to give a sharp lower bound of the spectrum of the Hodge Laplacian acting on differential forms of an embedded hypersurface of a Riemannian manifold. The equality case of our inequality gives rise to a number of rigidity results, when the geometry of the boundary has special properties and the domain is non-negatively curved. Finally we also obtain, as a by-product of our calculations, an upper bound of the first eigenvalue of the Hodge Laplacian when the ambient manifold supports non-trivial parallel forms.

A Sobolev-like inequality for the Dirac operator

In this article, we prove a Sobolev-like inequality for the Dirac operator on closed compact Riemannian spin manifolds with a nearly optimal Sobolev constant. As an application, we give a criterion for the existence of solutions to a nonlinear equation with critical Sobolev exponent involving the Dirac operator. We finally specify a case where this equation can be solved.

Rigidity of compact Riemannian spin Manifolds with Boundary

In this article, we prove new rigidity results for compact Riemannian spin manifolds with boundary whose scalar curvature is bounded from below by a non-positive constant. In particular, we obtain generalizations of a result of Hang-Wang \cite{hangwang1} based on a conjecture of Schroeder and Strake \cite{schroeder}.

Positive mass theorem for the Paneitz-Branson operator

We prove that under suitable assumptions, the constant term in the Green function of the Paneitz-Branson operator on a compact Riemannian manifold $(M,g)$ is positive unless $(M,g)$ is conformally diffeomophic to the standard sphere. The proof is inspired by the positive mass theorem on spin manifolds by Ammann-Humbert.

Branson's Q-curvature in Riemannian and Spin Geometry

On a closed 4-dimensional Riemannian manifold, we give a lower bound for the square of the first eigenvalue of the Yamabe operator in terms of the total Branson's Q-curvature. As a consequence, if the manifold is spin, we relate the first eigenvalue of the Dirac operator to the total Branson's Q-curvature. On a closed n-dimensional manifold, $n\ge 5$, we compare the three basic conformally covariant operators : the Branson-Paneitz, the Yamabe and the Dirac operator (if the manifold is spin) through their first eigenvalues. Equality cases are also characterized.

Green functions for the Dirac operator under local boundary conditions and applications

In this paper, we define the Green function for the Dirac operator under two local boundary conditions: the condition associated with a chirality operator (also called the chiral bag boundary condition) and the $\MIT$ bag boundary condition. Then we give some applications of these constructions for each Green function. From the existence of the chiral Green function, we derive an inequality on a spin conformal invariant which, in particular, solve the Yamabe problem on manifolds with boundary in some cases. Finally, using the $\MIT$ Green function, we give a simple proof of a positive mass theorem previously proved by Escobar.

On a spin conformal invariant on manifolds with boundary

On a n-dimensional connected compact manifold with non-empty boundary equipped with a Riemannian metric, a spin structure and a chirality operator, we study some properties of a spin conformal invariant defined from the first eigenvalue of the Dirac operator under the chiral bag boundary condition. More precisely, we show that we can derive a spinorial analogue of Aubin's inequality.

The Hijazi inequality on manifolds with boundary

In this paper, we prove the Hijazi inequality on compact Riemannian spin manifolds under two boundary conditions: the condition associated with a chirality operator and the Riemannian version of the $\MIT$ bag condition. We then show that the limiting-case is characterized as being a half-sphere for the first condition whereas the equality cannot be achieved for the second.
