Characterization of linear spaces of matrices of constant rank from syzygy bundles

In this work, we characterize matrices of linear forms and constant rank, demonstrating that, under some natural assumptions, they are always associated with a syzygy bundle that fits into a (partially linear) resolution. Furthermore, this construction allows us to list all indecomposable matrices of constant rank up to 7, as well as describing the moduli spaces of simple vector bundles naturally defined by families of constant rank matrices.

Logarithmic Derivations of Adjoint Discriminants

We exhibit a relationship between projective duality and the sheaf of logarithmic vector fields along a reduced divisor $D$ of projective space, in that the push-forward of the ideal sheaf of the conormal variety in the point-hyperplane incidence, twisted by the tautological ample line bundle is isomorphic to logarithmic differentials along $D$. Then we focus on the adjoint discriminant $D$ of a simple Lie group with Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$ over an algebraically closed field $\mathbf{k}$ of characteristic zero and study the logarithmic module $\mathrm{Der}_{\mathbf{U}}(-\log(D))$ over $\mathbf{U} = \mathbf{k}[\mathfrak{g}]$. When $\mathfrak{g}$ is simply laced, we show that this module has two direct summands: the $G$-invariant part, which is free with generators in degrees equal to the exponents of $G$, and the $G$-variant part, which is of projective dimension one, presented by the Jacobian matrix of the basic invariants of $G$ and isomorphic to the image of the map $\mathbf{ad}\,: \mathfrak{g} \otimes \mathbf{U}(-1) \rightarrow \mathfrak{g} \otimes \mathbf{U}$ given by the Lie bracket. When $\mathfrak{g}$ is not simply laced, we give a length-one equivariant graded free resolution of $\mathrm{Der}_{\mathbf{U}}(-\log(D))$ in terms of the exponents of $G$ and of the quasi-minuscule representation of $G$.

't Hooft bundles on the complete flag threefold and moduli spaces of instantons

In this work we study the moduli spaces of instanton bundles on the flag twistor space $F:=F(0,1,2)$. We stratify them in terms of the minimal twist supporting global sections and we introduce the notion of (special) 't Hooft bundle on $F$. In particular we prove that there exist $\mu$-stable 't Hooft bundles for each admissible charge $k$. We completely describe the geometric structure of the moduli space of (special) 't Hooft bundles for arbitrary charge $k$. Along the way to reach these goals, we describe the possible structures of multiple curves supported on some rational curves in $F$ as well as the family of del Pezzo surfaces realized as hyperplane sections of $F$. Finally we investigate the splitting behaviour of 't Hooft bundles when restricted to conics.

Generalized logarithmic sheaf on smooth projective surfaces

We define the notion of generalized logarithmic sheaves on a smooth projective surface, associated to a pair consisting of a reduced curve and some fixed points on it. We then set up the study of the Torelli property in this setting, focusing mostly in the case of the blow-up of the projective plane on a reduced set of points and, in particular, in the case of the cubic surface. We also study the stability property of generalized logarithmic sheaves as well as carrying out the description of their moduli spaces.

Hypertetrahedral arrangements

In this paper, we introduce the notion of a complete hypertetrahedral arrangement $\mathcal{A}$ in $\mathbb{P}^{n}$. We address two basic problems. First, we describe the local freeness of $\mathcal{A}$ in terms of smaller complete hypertetrahedral arrangements and graph theory properties, specializing the Musta\c{t}\u{a}-Schenck criterion. As an application, we obtain that general complete hypertetrahedral arrangements are not locally free. In the second part of this paper, we bound the initial degree of the first syzygy module of the Jacobian ideal of $\mathcal{A}$.

On stability of logarithmic tangent sheaves. Symmetric and generic determinants

We prove stability of logarithmic tangent sheaves of singular hypersurfaces D of the projective space with constraints on the dimension and degree of the singularities of D. As main application, we prove that determinants and symmetric determinants have stable logarithmic tangent sheaves and we describe an open dense piece of the associated moduli space.

On invariant rank two vector bundles on $\mathbb{P}^2$

In this paper we characterize the rank two vector bundles on $\mathbb{P}^2$ which are invariant under the actions of the parabolic subgroups $G_p:=\mathrm{Stab}_p(\mathrm{PGL}(3))$ fixing a point in the projective plane, $G_L:=\mathrm{Stab}_L(\mathrm{PGL}(3))$ fixing a line, and when $p\in L$, the Borel subgroup $\mathbf{B} = G_p \cap G_L$ of $\mathrm{PGL}(3)$. Moreover, we prove that the geometrical configuration of the jumping locus induced by the invariance does not, on the other hand, characterize the invariance itself. Indeed, we find infinite families that are almost uniform but not almost homogeneous.

Uniform Steiner bundles

In this work we study $k$-type uniform Steiner bundles, being $k$ the lowest degree of the splitting. We prove sharp upper and lower bounds for the rank in the case $k=1$ and moreover we give families of examples for every allowed possible rank and explain which relation exists between the families. After dealing with the case $k$ in general, we conjecture that every $k$-type uniform Steiner bundle is obtained through the proposed construction technique.

Instanton bundles on the flag variety F(0,1,2)

Instanton bundles on $\mathbb{P}^3$ have been at the core of the research in Algebraic Geometry during the last thirty years. Motivated by the recent extension of their definition to other Fano threefolds of Picard number one, we develop the theory of instanton bundles on the complete flag variety $F:=F(0,1,2)$ of point-lines on $\mathbb{P}^2$. After giving for them two different monadic presentations, we use it to show that the moduli space $MI_F(k)$ of instanton bundles of charge $k$ is a geometric GIT quotient and the open subspace $MI^s_F(k)\subset MI_F(k)$ of stable instanton bundles has a generically smooth component of dim $8k-3$. Finally we study their locus of jumping conics.

Classification of the invariants of foliations by curves of low degree on the three-dimensional projective space

We study foliations by curves on the three-dimensional projective space with no isolated singularities, which is equivalent to assuming that the conormal sheaf is locally free. We provide a classification of the topological and algebraic invariants of the conormal sheaves and singular schemes for such foliations by curves, up to degree 3. In particular, we prove that foliations by curves of degree 1 or 2 are contained in a pencil of planes or are Legendrian, and are given by the complete intersection of two codimension one distributions. Furthermore, we prove that the conormal sheaf of a foliation by curves of degree 3 with reduced singular scheme either splits as a sum of line bundles or is an instanton bundle. For degree larger than 3, we focus on two classes of foliations by curves, namely Legendrian foliations and those whose conormal sheaf is a twisted null-correlation bundle. We give characterizations of such foliations, describe their singular schemes and their moduli spaces.

Triangular arrangements on the projective plane

In this work we study line arrangements consisting in lines passing through three non-aligned points. We call them triangular arrangements. We prove that any combinatorics of a triangular arrangement is always realized by a Roots-of-Unity-Arrangement, which is a particular class of triangular arrangements. Among these Roots-of Unity-Arrangements, we provide conditions that ensure their freeness. Finally, we give two triangular arrangements having the same weak combinatorics, such that one is free but the other one is not.

Irreducibility of the moduli space of orthogonal instanton bundles on $\mathbb{P}^n$

In order to obtain existence criteria for orthogonal instanton bundles on $\mathbb{P}^n$, we provide a bijection between equivalence classes of orthogonal instanton bundles with no global sections and symmetric forms. Using such correspondence we are able to provide explicit examples of orthogonal instanton bundles with no global sections on $\mathbb{P}^n$ and prove that every orthogonal instanton bundle with no global sections on $\mathbb{P}^n$ and charge $c\geq 3$ has rank $r\leq (n-1)c$. We also prove that when the rank $r$ of the bundles reaches the upper bound, $\mathcal{M}_{\mathbb{P}^n}^{\mathcal{O}}(c,r)$, the coarse moduli space of orthogonal instanton bundles with no global sections on $\mathbb{P}^n$, with charge $c\geq 3$ and rank $r$, is affine, reduced and irreducible. Last, we construct Kronecker modules to determine the splitting type of the bundles in $\mathcal{M}_{\mathbb{P}^n}^{\mathcal{O}}(c,r)$, whenever is non-empty.

On holomorphic distributions on Fano threefolds

This paper is devoted to the study of holomorphic distributions of dimension and codimension one on smooth weighted projective complete intersection Fano manifolds threedimensional, with Picard number equal to one. We study the relations between algebro-geometric properties of the singular set of singular holomorphic distributions and their associated sheaves. We characterize either distributions whose tangent sheaf or conormal sheaf are arithmetically Cohen Macaulay (aCM) on smooth weighted projective complete intersection Fano manifolds threefold. We also prove that a codimension one locally free distribution with trivial canonical bundle on any Fano threefold, with Picard number equal to one, has a tangent sheaf which either splits or it is stable.

Monads on projective varieties

We generalise Fløystad's theorem on the existence of monads on the projective space to a larger set of projective varieties. We consider a variety $X$, a line bundle $L$ on $X$, and a base-point-free linear system of sections of $L$ giving a morphism to the projective space whose image is either arithmetically Cohen-Macaulay (ACM), or linearly normal and not contained in a quadric. We give necessary and sufficient conditions on integers $a$, $b$, and $c$ for a monad of type \[ 0\to(L^\vee)^a\to\mathcal{O}_{X}^{\,b}\to L^c\to0 \] to exist. We show that under certain conditions there exists a monad whose cohomology sheaf is simple. We furthermore characterise low-rank vector bundles that are the cohomology sheaf of some monad as above. Finally, we obtain an irreducible family of monads over the projective space and make a description on how the same method could be used on an ACM smooth projective variety $X$. We establish the existence of a coarse moduli space of low-rank vector bundles over an odd-dimensional $X$ and show that in one case this moduli space is irreducible.

Nearly free curves and arrangements: a vector bundle point of view

Many papers are devoted to study logarithmic sheaves associated to reduced divisors, in particular logarithmic bundles associated to plane curves since forty years in differential and algebraic topology or geometry. An interesting family of these curves are the so-called free ones for which the associated logarithmic sheaf is the direct sum of two line bundles. When the curve is a finite set of distinct lines (i.e. a line arrangement), Terao conjectured thirty years ago that its freeness depends only on its combinatorics. A lot of efforts were done to prove it but at this time it is only proved up to 12 lines. If one wants to find a counter example to this conjecture a new family of curves arises naturally: the nearly free curves introduced by Dimca and Sticlaru. We prove here that the logarithmic bundle associated to a nearly free curve possesses a minimal non zero section that vanishes on one single point $P$, called jumping point, and that characterizes the bundle. Then we give a precise description of the behaviour of $P$. In particular we show, based on detailed examples, that the position of $P$ relatively to its corresponding nearly free arrangement of lines may or may not be a combinatorial invariant, depending on the chosen combinatorics.

A Horrocks' theorem for reflexive sheaves

In this paper, we define $m$-tail reflexive sheaves as reflexive sheaves on projective spaces with the simplest possible cohomology. We prove that the rank of any $m$-tail reflexive sheaf $\mathcal{E}$ on $\mathcal{P}^n$ is greater or equal to $ nm-m$. We completely describe $m$-tail reflexive sheaves on $\mathcal{P}^n$ of minimal rank and we construct huge families of $m$-tail reflexive sheaves of higher rank.
