Definition and evolution of transverse momentum dependent distribution of twist-three

We present an in-depth analysis of transverse momentum dependent (TMD) distributions of twist-three. In particular, we focus on evolution equations, symmetry relations, parameterization, interpretation, small-b asymptotic behaviour and the structure of singularities. The starting point of discussion are the correlators with the definite TMD-twist. By considering suitable combinations of these correlators, we introduce physical TMD distribution of twist-three that can be used for practical applications. We also establish relations with generic TMD distribution of twist-three, and demonstrate that their evolution equations are autonomous in the large-$N_c$ limit.

Collapse dynamics and Hilbert-space stochastic processes

Spontaneous collapse models of state vector reduction represent a possible solution to the quantum measurement problem. In the present paper we focus our attention on the Ghirardi-Rimini-Weber (GRW) theory and the corresponding continuous localisation models in the form of a Brownian-driven motion in Hilbert space. We consider experimental setups in which a single photon hits a beam splitter and is subsequently detected by photon detector(s), generating a superposition of photon-detector quantum states. Through a numerical approach we study the dependence of collapse times on the physical features of the superposition generated, including also the effect of a finite reaction time of the measuring apparatus. We find that collapse dynamics is sensitive to the number of detectors and the physical properties of the photon-detector quantum states superposition.

Analytical derivatives of Neural Networks

We propose a simple recursive algorithm that allows the computation of the first- and second-order derivatives with respect to the inputs of an arbitrary deep feed forward neural network (DFNN). The algorithm naturally incorporates the derivatives with respect to the network parameters. To test the algorithm, we apply it to the study of the quantum mechanical variational problem for few cases of simple potentials, modeling the ground-state wave function in terms of a DFNN.

Energy-momentum tensor in QCD: nucleon mass decomposition and mechanical equilibrium

We review and examine in detail recent developments regarding the question of the nucleon mass decomposition. We discuss in particular the virial theorem in quantum field theory and its implications for the nucleon mass decomposition and mechanical equilibrium. We reconsider the renormalization of the QCD energy-momentum tensor in minimal-subtraction-type schemes and the physical interpretation of its components, as well as the role played by the trace anomaly and Poincaré symmetry. We also study the concept of "quantum anomalous energy" proposed in some works as a new contribution to the nucleon mass. Examining the various arguments, we conclude that the quantum anomalous energy is not a genuine contribution to the mass sum rule, as a consequence of translation symmetry.

The gravitational form factor D(t) of the electron

The electron-graviton interaction can be described in terms of the gravitational form factors of the QED energy momentum tensor. Here we focus on the form factor D(t), and we examine its properties and its interpretation in terms of internal forces at one-loop accuracy in QED. We perform the calculation by keeping separate the contributions due to the electron and the photon parts of the energy momentum tensor. We also study the case of a nonzero photon mass. Furthermore, we discuss similarities with and differences to the form factor D(t) of hadronic bound states.

Revisiting the proton mass decomposition

Different decompositions (sum rules) for the proton mass have been proposed in the literature. All of them are related to the energy-momentum tensor in quantum chromodynamics. We review and revisit these decompositions by paying special attention to recent developments with regard to the renormalization of the energy-momentum tensor. The connection between the sum rules is discussed as well. We present numerical results for the various terms of the mass decompositions up to 3 loops in the strong coupling, and consider their scheme dependence. We also elaborate on the role played by the trace anomaly and the sigma terms.
