Toric degeneration for hybrid qudit spaces

We consider covariant algebras attached to certain hybrid qudit spaces. We describe these algebras in terms of generators and relations, and we show they are flat deformations of certain explicitly described semigroup algebras.

Branching algebras for the general linear Lie superalgebra

We develop an algebraic approach to the branching of representations of the general linear Lie superalgebra $\mathfrak{gl}_{p|q}({\mathbb C})$, by constructing certain super commutative algebras whose structure encodes the branching rules. Using this approach, we derive the branching rules for restricting any irreducible polynomial representation $V$ of $\mathfrak{gl}_{p|q}({\mathbb C})$ to a regular subalgebra isomorphic to $\mathfrak{gl}_{r|s}({\mathbb C})\oplus \mathfrak{gl}_{r'|s'}({\mathbb C})$, $\mathfrak{gl}_{r|s}({\mathbb C})\oplus\mathfrak{gl}_1({\mathbb C})^{r'+s'}$ or $\mathfrak{gl}_{r|s}({\mathbb C})$, with $r+r'=p$ and $s+s'=q$. In the case of $\mathfrak{gl}_{r|s}({\mathbb C})\oplus\mathfrak{gl}_1({\mathbb C})^{r'+s'}$ with $s=0$ or $s=1$ but general $r$, we also construct a basis for the space of $\mathfrak{gl}_{r|s}({\mathbb C})$ highest weight vectors in $V$; when $r=s=0$, the branching rule leads to explicit expressions for the weight multiplicities of $V$ in terms of Kostka numbers.

Highest weight vectors in plethysms

We realize the $\mathrm{GL}_n(\mathbb{C})$-modules $S^k(S^m(\mathbb{C}^n))$ and $Λ^k(S^m(\mathbb{C}^n))$ as spaces of polynomial functions on $n\times k$ matrices. In the case $k=3$, we describe explicitly all the $\mathrm{GL}_n(\mathbb{C})$-highest weight vectors which occur in $S^3(S^m(\mathbb{C}^n))$ and in $Λ^3(S^m(\mathbb{C}^n))$ respectively.

A reciprocity law and the skew Pieri rule for the symplectic group

We use the theory of skew duality to show that decomposing the tensor product of $k$ irreducible representations of the symplectic group $Sp_{2m} = Sp_{2m}(C)$ is equivalent to branching from $Sp_{2n}$ to $Sp_{2n_1}\times\cdots\times Sp_{2n_k}$ where $n, n_1,\ldots, n_k$ are positive integers such that $n = n_1+\cdots+n_k$ and the $n_j$'s depend on $m$ as well as the representations in the tensor product. Using this result and a work of J. Lepowsky, we obtain a skew Pieri rule for $Sp_{2m}$, i.e., a description of the irreducible decomposition of the tensor product of an irreducible representation of the symplectic group $Sp_{2m}$ with a fundamental representation.

Degenerate principal series of metaplectic groups and Howe correspondence

The main purpose of this article is to supplement the authors' results on degenerate principal series representations of real symplectic groups with the analogous results for metaplectic groups. The basic theme, as in the previous case, is that their structures are anticipated by certain natural subrepresentations constructed from Howe correspondence. This supplement is necessary as these representations play a key role in understanding the basic structure of Howe correspondence (and its complications in the archimedean case), and their global counterparts play an equally essential part in the proof of Siegel-Weil formula and its generalizations (work of Kudla-Rallis). The full results in the metaplectic case also shed light on the seeming peculiarities, when the results in the symplectic case are viewed in their isolation.

Pieri algebras for the orthogonal and symplectic groups

We study the structure of a family of algebras which encodes a generalization of the Pieri Rule for the complex orthogonal group. In particular, we show that each of these algebras has a standard monomial basis and has a flat deformation to a Hibi algebra. There is also a parallel theory for the complex symplectic group.

Intersection of harmonics and Capelli identities for symmetric pairs

We consider a see-saw pair consisting of a Hermitian symmetric pair (G_R, K_R) and a compact symmetric pair (M_R, H_R), where (G_R, H_R) and (K_R, M_R) form real reductive dual pairs in a large symplectic group. In this setting, we get Capelli identities which explicitly represent certain K_C-invariant elements in U(Lie(G)_C) in terms of H_C-invariant elements in U(Lie(M)_C). The corresponding H_C-invariant elements are called Capelli elements. We also give a decomposition of the intersection of O_{2n}-harmonics and Sp_{2n}-harmonics as a module of GL_n = O_{2n} \cap Sp_{2n}, and construct a basis for the GL_n highest weight vectors. This intersection is in the kernel of our Capelli elements.
