BRST invariant $CP^{1}$ model through improved Dirac quantization

The Batalin-Fradkin-Tyutin (BFT) scheme, which is an improved version of Dirac quantization, is applied to the $CP^1$ model, and the compact form of a nontrivial first-class Hamiltonian is directly obtained by introducing the BFT physical fields. We also derive a BRST-invariant gauge fixed Lagrangian through the standard path-integral procedure. Furthermore, performing collective coordinate quantization we obtain energy spectrum of rigid rotator in the $CP^1$ model. Exploiting the Hopf bundle, we also show that the $CP^1$ model is exactly equivalent to the O(3) nonlinear sigma model at the canonical level.

Static properties of chiral models with SU(3) group structure

We investigate the strangeness in the framework of chiral models, such as the Skyrmion, MIT bag, chiral bag and superqualiton models, with SU(3) flavor group structure. We review the recent progresses in both the theoretical paradigm and experimental verification for strange hadron physics, and in particular the SAMPLE experiment results on the proton strange form factor. We study the color flavor locking phase in the color superconducting quark matter at high density, which might exist in the core of neutron stars, in the soliton-like superqualiton description. We explain the difficulties encountered in the application of the standard Dirac quantization to the Skyrmion and superqualiton models and treat the geometrical constraints of these soliton models properly to yield the relevant mass spectrum including the Weyl ordering corrections and the BRST symmetry structures.

Partition functions and Jacobi fields in the Morse theory

We study the semiclassical partition function in the frame work of the Morse theory, to clarify the phase factor of the partition function and to relate it to the eta invariant of Atiyah. Converting physical system with potential into a curved manifold, we exploit the Jacobi fields and their corresponding eigenvalue equations to be associated with geodesics on the curved manifold and the Hamilton-Jacobi theory.

Higher dimensional flat embeddings of black strings in (2+1) dimensions

We obtain (3+1) and (3+2) dimensional global flat embeddings of (2+1) uncharged and charged black strings, respectively. In particular, the charged black string, which is the dual solution of the Banados-Teitelboim-Zanelli black holes, is shown to be embedded in the same global embedding Minkowski space structure as that of the (2+1) charged de Sitter black hole solution.

Improved Dirac quantization of a free particle

In the framework of Dirac quantization with second class constraints, a free particle moving on the surface of a $(d-1)-$dimensional sphere has an ambiguity in the energy spectrum due to the arbitrary shift of canonical momenta. We explicitly show that this spectrum obtained by the Dirac method can be consistent with the result of the Batalin-Fradkin-Tyutin formalism, which is an improved Dirac method, at the level of the first-class constraint by fixing the ambiguity, and discuss its physical consequences.

Flavor symmetry breaking effects on SU(3) Skyrmion

We study the massive SU(3) Skyrmion model to investigate the flavor symmetry breaking (FSB) effects on the static properties of the strange baryons in the framework of the rigid rotator quantization scheme combined with the improved Dirac quantization one. Both the chiral symmetry breaking pion mass and FSB kinetic terms are shown to improve $c$ the ratio of the strange-light to light-light interaction strengths and $\bar{c}$ that of the strange-strange to light-light.

Bosonization of QCD at high density

We describe the color-flavor locking (CFL) color superconductor in terms of bosonic variables, where the gaped quarks are realized as solitons, so-called superqualitons. We then show that the ground state of the CFL color superconductor is a $Q$-matter, which is the lowest energy state for a given fixed baryon number. From this $Q$-matter, we calculate the minimal energy to create a superqualiton and argue that it is twice of the Cooper gap. Upon quantizing the zero modes of superqualitons, we find superqualitons have the same quantum number as the gaped quarks and furthermore all the high spin states of superqualitons are absent in the effective bosonic description of the CFL color superconductor.

BFT embedding of noncommutative D-brane system

We study noncommutative geometry in the framework of the Batalin-Fradkin-Tyutin(BFT) scheme, which converts second class constraint system into first class one. In an open string theory noncommutative geometry appears due to the mixed boundary conditions having second class constraints, which arise in string theory with $D$-branes under a constant Neveu-Schwarz $B$-field. Introduction of a new coordinate $y$ on $D$-brane through BFT analysis allows us to obtain the commutative geometry with the help of the first class constraints, and the resulting action corresponding to the first class Hamiltonian in the BFT Hamiltonian formalism has a new local symmetry.

BFT Hamiltonian embedding for SU(3) Skyrmion

We newly apply the Batalin, Fradkin and Tyutin (BFT) formalism to the SU(3) flavor Skyrmion model to investigate the Weyl ordering correction to the structure of the hyperfine splittings of strange baryons. On the other hand, the Berry phases and Casimir effects are also discussed.

Global embeddings of scalar-tensor theories in (2+1)-dimensions

We obtain (3+3)- or (3+2)-dimensional global flat embeddings of four uncharged and charged scalar-tensor theories with the parameters B or L in the (2+1)-dimensions, which are the non-trivially modified versions of the Banados-Teitelboim-Zanelli (BTZ) black holes. The limiting cases B=0 or L=0 exactly are reduced to the Global Embedding Minkowski Space (GEMS) solution of the BTZ black holes.

Higher dimensional flat embeddings of (2+1) dimensional black holes

We obtain the higher dimensional global flat embeddings of static, rotating, and charged BTZ black holes. On the other hand, we also study the similar higher dimensional flat embeddings of the (2+1) de Sitter black holes which are the counterparts of the anti-de Sitter BTZ black holes. As a result, the charged dS black hole is shown to be embedded in (3+2) GEMS, contrast to the charged BTZ one having (3+3) GEMS structure.

Symmetries of SU(2) Skyrmion in Hamiltonian and Lagrangian approaches

We apply the Batalin-Fradkin-Tyutin (BFT) method to the SU(2) Skyrmion to study the full symmetry structure of the model at the first class Hamiltonian level. On the other hand, we also analyze the symmetry structure of the action having the WZ term, which corresponds to this Hamiltonian, in the framework of the Lagrangian approach. Furthermore, following the BFV formalism we derive the BRST invariant gauge fixed Lagrangian from the above extended action.

Strange Form Factors of Octet and Decuplet Baryons

The strange form factors of baryon octet are evaluated, in the chiral models with the general chiral SU(3) group structure, to yield the theoretical predictions comparable to the recent experimental data of SAMPLE Collaboration and to study the spin symmetries. Other model predictions are also briefly reviewed to compare with our results and then the strange form factors of baryon octet and decuplet are predicted.

Strange Form Factors and Sum Rules of Baryon Decuplet

Treating perturbatively the flavor symmetry breaking effects resided in the wave function as well as in the SU(3) Lagrangian, we calculate the strange form factors of decuplet baryons. The higher dimensional representation mixing components in the baryon wave function of the deccuplet baryons are found to yield the important contributions to the strange form factors, especially of the $Δ$ and $Σ^*$ baryons. The model independent sum rules among the baryon decuplet magnetic moments are also derived.

Improved BFT quantization of O(3) nonlinear sigma model

We newly apply the improved Batalin-Fradkin-Tyutin(BFT) Hamiltonian method to the O(3) nonlinear sigma model, and directly obtain the compact form of nontrivial first class Hamiltonian by introducing the BFT physical fields. Furthermore, following the BFV formalism, we derive the BRST invariant gauge fixed Lagrangian through the standard path-integral procedure. Finally, by introducing collective coordinates, we also study a semi-classical quantization of soliton background to conclude that the spectrum of zero modes are unchanged through the BFT procedure.

Consistent Dirac Quantization of SU(2) Skyrmion equivalent to the BFT Scheme

In the framework of Dirac quantization, the SU(2) Skyrmion is canonically quantized to yield the modified predictions of the static properties of baryons. We show that the energy spectrum of this Skyrmion obtained by the Dirac method with the suggestion of generalized momenta is consistent with the result of the Batalin-Fradkin-Tyutin formalism.

Strange Form Factors of Baryons

The strange magnetic form factor of proton is calculated in a model independent way to confirm the recent experimental result of the SAMPLE Collaboration. We consider a set of six inertia parameters to realize the magnetic moments of the baryon octet. We show that the strange form factor of proton is a positive quantity, i.e. +0.37 n.m.. Its positiveness is analyzed in terms of the vacuum fluctuation coupled to the vector current along the strangeness direction.

$η-η^{\prime}$ Mixture in Chiral Bag

The $η-η^{\prime}$ mixture is discussed in the chiral bag model to calculate the pseudoscalar octet-singlet mixing angle consistent with the experimental data. The color anomaly is taken into account with the modified boundary conditions, which shows the relation between the $η^{\prime}$ mass and the gluon condensate inside the chiral bag. We show, however, that $η-η^{\prime}$ mixing angle can follow the Cheshire Cat Principle, i.e., insensitivity to the bag radius.
