Anharmonicity can enhance the performance of quantum refrigerators

We explore a thermodynamical effect of anharmonicity in quantum mechanical oscillators. We show that small quartic perturbations to the oscillator potential lead to an enhancement of performance of quantum refrigerators for both the Otto and Stirling cycles. A similar nonlinearity driven enhancement of performance is also observed for an analogous spin-qubit model of quantum refrigerators. We further demonstrate the robustness of improvement of the coefficient of performance versus the energy cost for creating anharmonicity. It is shown that the anharmonicity driven improvement in performance is a generic effect at the quantum level for the experimentally realizable Otto refrigerator.

Holographic information theoretic quantities for Lifshitz black hole

In this paper, we have investigated the holographic entanglement entropy for a linear subsystem in a $3+1$-dimensional Lifshitz black hole. The entanglement entropy has been analysed in both the infra-red and ultra-violet limits, and has also been computed in the near horizon approximation. The notion of a generalized temperature in terms of the renormalized entanglement entropy has been introduced. This also leads to a generalized thermodynamics like law $E=T_g S_{REE}$. The generalized temperature has been defined in such a way that it reduces to the Hawking temperature in the infra-red limit. We have then computed the holographic subregion complexity. Then the Fisher information metric and the fidelity susceptibility for the same linear subsystem have also been computed using the bulk dual prescriptions. It has been observed that the two metrics are not related to each other.

Holographic subregion complexity of boosted black brane and Fisher information

In this paper, we have studied the holographic subregion complexity for boosted black brane for strip like subsystem. The holographic subregion complexity has been computed for a subsystem chosen along and perpendicular to the boost direction. We have observed that there is an asymmetry in the result due to the boost parameter which can be attributed to the asymmetry in the holographic entanglement entropy. The Fisher information metric and the fidelity susceptibility have also been computed using bulk dual prescriptions. It is observed that the two metrics computed holographically are not related for both the pure black brane as well as the boosted black brane. This is one of the main findings in this paper and the holographic results have been compared with the results available in the quantum information literature where it is known that the two distances are related to each other in general.

Bulk geometry from entanglement entropy of CFT

In this paper, we compute the exact form of the bulk geometry emerging from a $(1+1)$-dimensional conformal field theory using the holographic principle. We first consider the $(2+1)$-dimensional asymptotic $AdS$ metric in Poincare coordinates and compute the area functional corresponding to the static minimal surface $γ_A$ and obtain the entanglement entropy making use of the holographic entanglement entropy proposal. We then use the results of the entanglement entropy for $(1+1)$-dimensional conformal field theory on an infinite line, on an infinite line at a finite temperature and on a circle. Comparing these results with the holographic entanglement entropy, we are able to extract the proper structure of the bulk metric. Finally, we also carry out our analysis in the case of $\mathcal{N}=4$ super Yang-Mills theory and obtain the exact form of the dual bulk geometry corresponding to this theory. The analysis reveals the behavior of the bulk metric in both the near boundary region and deep inside the bulk. The results also show the influence of the boundary UV cut-off "$a$" on the bulk metric. It is observed that the reconstructed metrics match exactly with the known results in the literature when one moves deep inside the bulk or towards the turning point.

Holographic entanglement thermodynamics for higher dimensional charged black hole

In this paper, we have investigated the entanglement thermodynamics for $d$-dimensional charged $AdS$ black hole by studying the holographic entanglement entropy in different cases. We have first computed the holographic entanglement entropy in extremal and non-extremal cases in two different regimes, namely, the low temperature and high temperature limits. We then obtain the first law of entanglement thermodynamics for boundary field theory in the low temperature regime in $d$-dimensions.

Holographic complexity of black non-susy D3-brane and the high temperature limit

The holographic complexity of a `black' non-susy $D3$-brane is computed. The difference in the holographic complexity between this geometry in the Fefferman-Graham coordinates and that of the $AdS_5$ geometry is obtained for a strip type subsystem. This is then related to the changes in the energy and the entanglement entropy of the system. We next take the high temperature limit of the change in complexity and observe that it scales with the temperature in the same way as the holographic entanglement entropy. The crossover of the holographic complexity to its corresponding thermal counterpart is similar to the corresponding crossover of the holographic entanglement entropy in the high temperature limit. We further repeat the analysis for $\mathcal{N} =4$ super Yang-Mills theory and observe a similar behaviour.

Holographic complexity for Lifshitz system

The holographic complexity of a 3+1-dimensional Lifshitz spacetime having a scaling symmetry is computed. The change in the holographic complexity between the excited state and the ground state is then obtained. This is then related to the changes in the energy and the entanglement chemical potential of the system. The calculation is carried out for both the values of the dynamical scaling exponent z in the Lifshitz spacetime. The relations has a very similar form to the corresponding relation involving the change in entanglement entropy known to be an analogous relation to the first law of thermodynamics.

Entanglement thermodynamics for an excited state of Lifshitz system

A class of (2+1)-dimensional quantum many body system characterized by an anisotropic scaling symmetry (Lifshitz symmetry) near their quantum critical point can be described by a (3+1)-dimensional dual gravity theory with negative cosmological constant along with a massive vector field, where the scaling symmetry is realized by the metric as an isometry. We calculate the entanglement entropy of an excited state of such a system holographically, i.e., from the asymptotic perturbation of the gravity dual using the prescription of Ryu and Takayanagi, when the subsystem is sufficiently small. With suitable identifications, we show that this entanglement entropy satisfies an energy conservation relation analogous to the first law of thermodynamics. The non-trivial massive vector field here plays a crucial role and contributes to an additional term in the energy relation.
