Bayesian Inferences on Analytical Equations of State Approximations of Neutron Stars

Equations of state (EoS) for dense matter are commonly provided in tabulated pressure-energy density relations, complicating numerical implementation and potentially compromising thermodynamic consistency. In this work, we propose a piecewise-continuous analytical form with a common parametrization capable of representing a broad class of dense matter EoSs. We validate this parametrization against tabulated EoSs from the CompOSE and LALSimulation repositories. Following the initial deterministic fitting, we employed two distinct Bayesian approaches: one based on synthetic EoSs generated by adding noise to the fitted EoS and another based on multi-messenger measurements of neutron-star masses and tidal deformabilities. In both approaches, the initial best-fit parameters are used as reference values. For the considered EoSs, spanning from very soft to very stiff, the resulting fits reproduce the tabulated EoSs and the associated macroscopic neutron-star observables in the repositories with sufficient accuracy. The inferred parameters exhibit strong correlations arising from the continuity conditions imposed at the segment boundaries. These correlations persist in the low- and intermediate-density segments under multi-messenger inference but become weak in the core, reflecting the limited constraining power of current observations at high densities. The ability of a single functional form to describe EoSs derived from different microscopic frameworks, together with the recurrence of similar parameter correlations, suggests that diverse dense matter EoSs may share a common underlying structure.

A population study on the effect of metallicity on ZAMS to the merger

The formation channels of compact object binaries are crucial for interpreting gravitational wave observations and enhancing early multi-messenger alerts. Despite the key role of stellar metallicity in progenitor evolution, many models assume a uniform value for all stars in a cluster. In this study, we investigate the impact of a heterogeneous stellar metallicity distribution on the formation of compact object binaries and their resulting gravitational wave signatures. We extend the COSMIC binary population synthesis code to incorporate a fiducial mass-redshift-metallicity relation for individual Zero-Age Main Sequence stars of a stellar cluster. Focusing on low-metallicity environments at redshift $z \approx 4$, we analyse the gravitational-wave signals from binary black holes and black hole-neutron star systems in the sub-hertz regime. The resulting binary black holes have total masses from $8$-$86\,M_\odot$, while black hole--neutron star systems range from $6$-$31\,M_\odot$. We assess the detectability of the characteristic strains against the sensitivity curves of planned sub-hertz observatories.

Inferring the Merger History of Primordial Black Holes from Gravitational-Wave data and the Stochastic Signatures

Primordial black holes (PBHs) are well-motivated candidates for cold dark matter and may also account for a fraction of the binary black hole mergers observed by the LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA Collaboration. In this study, we investigate the gravitational-wave signatures of PBHs, with a particular focus on evaluating their integrated contribution to the stochastic gravitational-wave background arising from binary mergers over a broad range of redshifts. We perform a Bayesian analysis of gravitational-wave events following all Gravitational-Wave Transient Catalog data, assuming a log-normal PBH mass function. We compute the merger rate distribution of PBH binaries by accounting for gravitational torques from the surrounding PBH. To constrain this rate, we employ the latest limits from the third observing run of LIGO/Virgo. Owing to their primordial origin, PBHs exhibit enhanced merger activity at high redshifts, prior to the onset of stellar formation. Our analysis yields a relatively weak inference on the redshift evolution index of the PBH merger rate, with $α= 2.19^{+0.16}_{-0.16}$ at 68\% confidence level. The local merger rate of PBH binaries is found with posterior estimates lying in the range $23.5-30.3~\mathrm{Gpc}^{-3}\,\mathrm{yr}^{-1}$, reflecting a high degree of statistical precision in the inferred distribution. Additionally, we emphasize the potential of stochastic gravitational-wave background observations to probe the cumulative history of PBH mergers across cosmic time.

The Lunar Gravitational-wave Antenna: Mission Studies and Science Case

The Lunar Gravitational-wave Antenna (LGWA) is a proposed array of next-generation inertial sensors to monitor the response of the Moon to gravitational waves (GWs). Given the size of the Moon and the expected noise produced by the lunar seismic background, the LGWA would be able to observe GWs from about 1 mHz to 1 Hz. This would make the LGWA the missing link between space-borne detectors like LISA with peak sensitivities around a few millihertz and proposed future terrestrial detectors like Einstein Telescope or Cosmic Explorer. In this article, we provide a first comprehensive analysis of the LGWA science case including its multi-messenger aspects and lunar science with LGWA data. We also describe the scientific analyses of the Moon required to plan the LGWA mission.

Stochastic gravitational wave background due to core collapse resulting in neutron stars

The stochastic background of gravitational wave signals arising from the core-collapse supernovae is produced through various complex mechanisms that need detailed and careful investigation. We proposed a simplified multi-peak waveform of the amplitude spectrum. The corresponding energy spectra of our model fit the energy spectra obtained from different numerical simulations of various types of core-collapse events such as non-rotating, slow and fast rotating massive progenitors resulting in neutron stars. The maximum dimensionless energy density $Ω_{gw}$ corresponding to our model is of $\mathcal{O}(10 {^{-12})} $ around 650 Hz. Assuming some degree of uncertainty, we estimated the parameters for the core collapse waveform using BILBY. We studied the detectability of the signal of our model against gravitational-wave detectors like the Einstein Telescope, advanced LIGO and Virgo. Our study indicates that these detectors have to gain more sensitivity to pick up the gravitational wave signals of stochastic background.

Finslerian extension of an anisotropic strange star in the domain of modified gravity

In this article, we apply the Finsler spacetime to develop the Einstein field equations in the extension of modified geometry. Following Finsler geometry, which is focused on the tangent bundle with a scalar function, a scalar equation should be the field equation that defines this structure. This spacetime maintains the required causality properties on the generalized Lorentzian metric manifold. The matter field is coupled with the Finsler geometry to produce the complete action. In this work, we use modified gravity to develop the Einstein field equations from the variational principle. Developed Einstein field equations are employed on the strange stellar system to improve the study. The interior of the system is made of a strange quark, maintained by the MIT Bag equation of state. In addition, the modified Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkov (TOV) equation is formulated. In particular, the anisotropic stress attains the maximum at the surface. The mass-central density variation justifies the stability of the system.

An eccentric binary blackhole in post-Newtonian theory

Gravitational waves radiated during binary black hole coalescence is a perfect probe for studying the characteristics of strong gravity. Advanced techniques for creating numerical relativity substitute models for eccentric binary black hole systems are presumed to become more crucial in existing and anticipated gravitational wave detectors. The imprint on the observation data of the gravitational wave emitted by the binary coalescence enhances the two body system studies. The aim of this study is to present an overview of the change in characteristics behaviours of hierarchical massive astrophysical objects merger, which are the data bank of the early universe. We present results from numerical relativity simulations of equal-mass and unequal mass nonspinning inspiral binary-black-hole system in the Post Newtonian framework. We also consider the time evolution of eccentricity for the initial eccentric system. The eccentric Post Newtonian equations are expanded in the form of frequency related variable $x = (M ω)^{2/3}$. The model is restricted to the (2, 2) spin-weighted spherical harmonic modes. We conclude that for higher eccentricity as well as mass ratio there exist higher oscillation in orbital radius and in eccentricity.

Gravitational waves in the modified gravity

We have taken a modified version of the Einstein Hilbert action, $ f(R, T^ϕ) $ gravity under consideration, where $T^ϕ$ is the energy-momentum tensor trace for the scalar field under consideration. The structural behaviour of the scalar field considered varies with the form of the potential. The number of polarization modes of gravitational waves in modified theories has been studied extensively for the corresponding fields. There are two additional scalar modes, in addition to the usual two transverse-traceless tensor modes found in general relativity: a massive longitudinal mode and a massless transverse mode (the breathing mode).

Gravitational waves in the extended theory of gravity

Extended Theories of Gravity are considered as a new approach for solving the infrared and ultraviolet scale problems of the Standard Theory of Gravity (General Relativity). Observational evidence of gravitational waves and subsequent identification of the number of existing polarizations are an effective tool for testing general relativity and extended theories of gravity. The Newman-Penrose method is used to characterize the polarization modes for specific forms of $ f(R) $ in the present study. Both the forms of the $ f(R) $ theory belong to a far more general variational class of gravitational waves, capable of presenting up to six separate polarizations states. We have introduced new $ f(R) $ gravity models as an attempt to have a theory with more parametric regulations so that the model can be used to describe existing issues and discover different directions in gravity physics. The primary goal of this research is to look into the properties of gravitational waves with new cases. The model shows the existence of scalar degrees of freedom in $ f(R) $ gravity metric notation.

A relativistic compact stellar model of anisotropic quark matter mixed with dark energy

The possibility of strange stars mixed with dark energy to be one of the candidates for dark energy stars is the main issue of the present study. Our investigation shows that quark matter acts as dark energy after a certain yet unknown critical condition inside the quark stars. Our proposed model reveals that strange stars mixed with dark energy feature a physically acceptable stable model mimic characteristics of dark energy stars. The plausible connections are shown through the mass-radius relation as well as the entropy and temperature. We particularly note that a two-fluid distribution is a major reason for the anisotropic nature of the spherical stellar system.

The stochastic gravitational wave background from magnetars

Magnetars have already been a potential candidate as gravitational wave sources that could be detected by current and future terrestrial as well as ground based gravitational wave detectors. In this article, we focus on the gravitational wave emission from the distorted rotating neutron stars. The deformation is assumed to be symmetric around an axis that is perpendicular to the rotation axis. The form is applied in the context of a neutron star whose magnetic field has been deformed on its own. By introducing the effects from all magnetars in the Universe, based on various proposed magnetic field configurations, such as poloidal, toroidal; stochastic gravitational wave background (SGWB) can be generated. We choose to figure out exactly how the observations of the stochastic gravitational-wave background should be used to understand much more about physics correlated with the magnetar behaviour, based on the restriction on the eccentricity of the magnetar.

Noncommutative black hole in the Finslerian spacetime

We study the behavior of the noncommutative radiating Schwarzschild black hole in the Finslerian spacetime. The investigation shows that black hole possesses either (i) two horizons, or (ii) a single horizon, or (iii) no horizon corresponding to a minimal mass. We obtain that the minimal mass significantly changes with the Finslerian parameter, keeping minimal horizon remain unchanged. It turns out that under Finslerian spacetime, the maximum temperature before cooling down to absolute zero varies with Finslerian parameter. We then study the stability of the black hole by analyzing the specific heat and free energy. The energy conditions, their violation limit also scrutinized. Our findings suggest a stable black hole remnant, whose mass and size are uniquely determined in terms of the Finslerian parameter $\overline{Ric}$ and noncommutative parameter $θ$. The physical relevance of these results are discussed in a brief.

Anisotropic strange star in Finsler geometry

In the present paper, we report on a study of the anisotropic strange stars under Finsler geometry. Keeping in mind that Finsler spacetime is not merely a generalization of Riemannian geometry rather the main idea is the projectivized tangent bundle of the manifold $\mathpzc{M}$, we have developed the respective field equations. Thereafter, we consider the strange quark distribution inside the stellar system followed by the MIT bag model equation of state (EOS). To find out the stability and also the physical acceptability of the stellar configuration, we perform in detail some basic physical tests of the proposed model. The results of the testing show that the system is consistent with the Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkoff (TOV) equation, Herrera cracking concept, different energy conditions and adiabatic index. One important result that we observe is that the anisotropic stress reaches to the maximum at the surface of the stellar configuration. We calculate (i) the maximum mass as well as corresponding radius, (ii) the central density of the strange stars for finite values of bag constant $B_g$ and (iii) the fractional binding energy of the system. This study shows that Finsler geometry is especially suitable to explain massive stellar systems.

Charged anisotropic strange stars in Finslerian geometry

We investigate a simplified model for the strange stars in the framework of Finslerian spacetime geometry, composed of charged fluid. It is considered that the fluid consisting of three flavor quarks including a small amount of non-interacting electrons to maintain the chemical equilibrium and assumed that the fluid is compressible by nature. To obtain the simplified form of charged strange star we considered constant flag curvature. Based on geometry, we have developed the field equations within the localized charge distribution. We considered that the strange quarks distributed within the stellar system are compiled with the MIT bag model type of equation of state (EOS) and the charge distribution within the system follows a power law. We represent the exterior spacetime by the Finslerian Ressiner-Nordstr{ö}m space-time. The maximum anisotropic stress is obtained at the surface of the system. Whether the system is in equilibrium or not, has been examined with respect to the Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkoff (TOV) equation, Herrera cracking concept, different energy conditions and adiabatic index. We obtain that the total charge is of the order of 10$^{20}$ C and the corresponding electric field is of around 10$^{22}$ V/m. The central density and central pressure vary inversely with the charge. Varying the free parameter (charge constant) of the model, we find the generalized mass-radius variation of strange stars and determine the maximum limited mass with the corresponding radius. Furthermore, we also considered the variation of mass and radius against central density respectively.

A New Model for Strange Stars

In the present work, we attempt to find a new class of solutions for the spherically symmetric perfect fluid sphere by employing the Homotopy Perturbation Method (HPM), a new tool via which the mass polynomial function facilitates to tackle the Einstein field equations. A set of interior solutions found on the basis of the simplest MIT bag model equation of state (EOS) in the form $p=\frac{1}{3}(ρ-4B)$ where $B$ is the bag constant. The proposed interior metric for the stellar system is consistent with the exterior Schwarzschild spacetime on the boundary. In addition, we also conduct a detailed study on different tests, viz. the energy conditions, TOV equation, adiabatic index, Buchdahl limit, etc., to verify the physical validity of the proposed model. The numerical value of the used parameters is predicted for different strange star candidates, for different chosen values of the bag constant. In a nutshell, by exploiting HPM technique first time ever in the field of relativistic astrophysics, we have predicted in the present literature a singularity-free and stable stellar model which is suitable to describe ultra-dense objects, like strange (quark) stars.

Anisotropic strange stars in Tolman-Kuchowicz spacetime

We attempt to study a singularity-free model for the spherically symmetric anisotropic strange stars under Einstein's general theory of relativity by exploiting the Tolman-Kuchowicz metric. Further, we have assumed that the cosmological constant $Λ$ is a scalar variable dependent on the spatial coordinate $r$. To describe the strange star candidates we have considered that they are made of strange quark matter (SQM) distribution, which is assumed to be governed by the MIT bag equation of state. To obtain unknown constants of the stellar system we match the interior Tolman-Kuchowicz metric to the exterior modified Schwarzschild metric with the cosmological constant, at the surface of the system. Following Deb et al. we have predicted the exact values of the radii for different strange star candidates based on the observed values of the masses of the stellar objects and the chosen parametric values of the $Λ$ as well as the bag constant $\mathcal{B}$. The set of solutions satisfies all the physical requirements to represent strange stars. Interestingly, our study reveals that as the values of the $Λ$ and $\mathcal{B}$ increase the anisotropic system becomes gradually smaller in size turning the whole system into a more compact ultra-dense stellar object.

Exact Radiation Model For Perfect Fluid Under Maximum Entropy Principle

We find the Euler-Lagrangian equation by maximising the total entropy. Hence we obtain an expression for mass of the spherically symmetric system by solving the Euler-Lagrangian equation where the Homotopy Perturbation Method has been employed. With the help of this expression and the Einstein field equations we obtain an interior solution set. Thereafter, we explain different aspects of the solution describing the system in connection to the mass, density, pressures, energy, stability, mass-radius ratio, compactness factor and surface redshift. This analysis shows that all the physical properties, in connection to brown dwarf stars, are valid with the observed features.

Relativistic model for anisotropic strange stars

In this article, we attempt to find a singularity free solution of Einstein's field equations for compact stellar objects, precisely strange (quark) stars, considering Schwarzschild metric as the exterior spacetime. To this end, we consider that the stellar object is spherically symmetric, static and anisotropic in nature and follows the density profile given by Mak and Harko (2002), which satisfies all the physical conditions. To investigate different properties of the ultra-dense strange stars we have employed the MIT bag model for the quark matter. Our investigation displays an interesting feature that the anisotropy of compact stars increases with the radial coordinate and attains its maximum value at the surface which seems an inherent property for the singularity free anisotropic compact stellar objects. In this connection we also perform several tests for physical features of the proposed model and show that these are reasonably acceptable within certain range. Further, we find that the model is consistent with the energy conditions and the compact stellar structure is stable with the validity of the TOV equation and Herrera cracking concept. For the masses bellow the maximum mass point in mass vs radius curve the typical behavior achieved within the framework of general relativity. We have calculated the maximum mass and radius of the strange stars for the three finite values of bag constant $B_g$.
