Poisson derivations and cohomology of Poisson nilpotent algebras

We compute the Poisson derivations and the first Poisson cohomology group of uniparameter Poisson Nilpotent Algebras (PNA for short) under the hypothesis that Poisson-normal elements are Poisson-central. This applies in particular to certain Poisson algebras associated to Bott--Samelson varieties.

Derivations and Hochschild cohomology of quantum nilpotent algebras

We compute the derivations of Quantum Nilpotent Algebras under a technical (but necessary) assumption on the center. As a consequence, we give an explicit description of the first Hochschild cohomology group of $U_q^+(\mathfrak{g})$, the positive part of the quantized enveloping algebra of a finite-dimensional complex simple Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$. Our results are obtained leveraging an initial cluster constructed by Goodearl and Yakimov.

Is $A_1$ of type $B_2$

By a theorem of Dixmier, primitive quotients of enveloping algebras of finite-dimensional complex nilpotent Lie algebras are isomorphic to Weyl algebras. In view of this result, it is natural to consider simple quotients of positive parts of quantized enveloping algebras (and more generally of uniparameter Quantum Nilpotent Algebras) as quantum analogues of Weyl algebras. In this note, we study the Lie algebra of derivations of the simple quotients of $U_q^+(B_2)$ of Gelfand-Kirillov dimension 2. For a specific family of such simple quotients, we prove that all derivations are inner (as in the case of Weyl algebras) whereas all other such algebras are quantum Generalized Weyl Algebras over a commutative Laurent polynomial algebra in one variable and have a first Hochschild cohomology group of dimension 1.

Derivations and the first Hochschild cohomology group of the quantum grassmannian

We calculate the derivations and the first Hochschild cohomology group of the quantum grassmannian over a field of characteristic zero in the generic case when the deformation parameter is not a root of unity. Using graded techniques and two special homogeneous normal elements of the quantum grassmannian, we reduce the problem to computing derivations of the quantum grassmannian that act trivially on these two normal elements. We then use the dehomogenisation equality which shows that a localisation of the quantum grassmannian is equal to a skew Laurent extension of quantum matrices. This equality is used to connect derivations of the quantum grassmannian with those of quantum matrices. More precisely, again using graded techniques, we show that derivations of the quantum grassmannian that act trivially on our two normal elements restrict to homogeneous derivations of quantum matrices. The derivations of quantum matrices are known in the square case and technical details needed to deal with the general case are given in an appendix. This allows us to explicitly describe the first Hochschild cohomology group of the quantum grassmannian.

Quantum Grassmannians and their Associated Quantum Schubert Varieties at roots of unity

We study the PI degree of various quantum algebras at roots of unity, including quantum Grassmannians, quantum Schubert varieties, partition subalgebras, and their associated quantum affine spaces. By a theorem of De Concini and Procesi, the PI degree of partition subalgebras and their associated quantum affine spaces is controlled by skew-symmetric integral matrices associated to (Cauchon-Le) diagrams. We prove that the invariant factors of these matrices are always powers of 2. This allows us to compute explicitly the PI degree of partition subalgebras. Our results also apply to certain completely prime (homogeneous) quotients of partition subalgebras. In particular, our results allow us to extend results of Jakobsen and Jondrup regarding the PI degree of quantum determinantal rings at roots of unity [JJ01] and we present a method to construct an irreducible representation of maximal dimension for quantum determinantal ideals. Building on these results, we use the strong connection between partition subalgebras and quantum Schubert varieties through noncommutative dehomogenisation [LR08] to obtain expressions for the PI degree of quantum Schubert varieties. In particular, we compute the PI degree of quantum Grassmannians.

A Deleting Derivations Algorithm for Quantum Nilpotent Algebras at Roots of Unity

This paper extends an algorithm and canonical embedding by Cauchon to a large class of quantum algebras. It applies to iterated Ore extensions over a field satisfying some suitable assumptions which cover those of Cauchon's original setting but also allows for roots of unity. The extended algorithm constructs a quantum affine space $A'$ from the original quantum algebra $A$ via a series of change of variables within the division ring of fractions $\mathrm{Frac}(A)$. The canonical embedding takes a completely prime ideal $P\lhd A$ to a completely prime ideal $Q\lhd A'$ such that when $A$ is a PI algebra, ${\rm PI}\text{-}{\rm deg}(A/P) = {\rm PI}\text{-}{\rm deg}(A'/Q)$. When the quantum parameter is a root of unity we can state an explicit formula for the PI degree of completely prime quotient algebras. This paper ends with a method to construct a maximum dimensional irreducible representation of $A/P$ given a suitable irreducible representation of $A'/Q$ when $A$ is PI.

Total positivity is a quantum phenomenon: the grassmannian case

The main aim of this paper is to establish a deep link between the totally nonnegative grassmannian and the quantum grassmannian. More precisely, under the assumption that the deformation parameter $q$ is transcendental, we show that "quantum positroids" are completely prime ideals in the quantum grassmannian $A$. As a consequence, we obtain that torus-invariant prime ideals in the quantum grassmannian are generated by polynormal sequences of quantum Plücker coordinates and give a combinatorial description of these generating sets. We also give a topological description of the poset of torus-invariant prime ideals in $A$, and prove a version of the orbit method for torus-invariant objects. Finally, we construct separating Ore sets for all torus-invariant primes in $A$. The latter is the first step in the Brown-Goodearl strategy to establish the orbit method for (quantum) grassmannians.

On the Dixmier-Moeglin equivalence for Poisson-Hopf algebra

We prove that the Poisson version of the Dixmier-Moeglin equivalence holds for cocommutative affine Poisson-Hopf algebras. This is a first step towards understanding the symplectic foliation and the representation theory of (cocommutative) affine Poisson-Hopf algebras. Our proof makes substantial use of the model theory of fields equipped with finitely many possibly noncommuting derivations. As an application, we show that the symmetric algebra of a finite dimensional Lie algebra, equipped with its natural Poisson structure, satisfies the Poisson Dixmier-Moeglin equivalence.

A strong Dixmier-Moeglin equivalence for quantum Schubert cells

Dixmier and Moeglin gave an algebraic condition and a topological condition for recognising the primitive ideals among the prime ideals of the universal enveloping algebra of a finite-dimensional complex Lie algebra; they showed that the primitive, rational, and locally closed ideals coincide. In modern terminology, they showed that the universal enveloping algebra of a finite-dimensional complex Lie algebra satisfies the Dixmier-Moeglin equivalence. We define quantities which measure how "close" an arbitrary prime ideal of a noetherian algebra is to being primitive, rational, and locally closed; if every prime ideal is equally "close" to each of these three properties, then we say that the algebra satisfies the strong Dixmier-Moeglin equivalence. Using the example of the universal enveloping algebra of sl_2(C), we show that the strong Dixmier-Moeglin equivalence is stronger than the Dixmier-Moeglin equivalence. For a simple complex Lie algebra g, a non root of unity q\neq 0 in an infinite field K, and an element w of the Weyl group of g, De Concini, Kac, and Procesi have constructed a subalgebra U_q[w] of the quantised enveloping K-algebra U_q(g). These quantum Schubert cells U_q[w] are known to satisfy the Dixmier-Moeglin equivalence and we show that they in fact satisfy the strong Dixmier-Moeglin equivalence. Along the way, we show that commutative affine domains, uniparameter quantum tori, and uniparameter quantum affine spaces satisfy the strong Dixmier-Moeglin equivalence.

Poisson Deleting Derivations Algorithm and Poisson Spectrum

In [5] Cauchon introduced the so-called deleting derivations algorithm. This algorithm was first used in noncommutative algebra to prove catenarity in generic quantum matrices, and then to show that torus-invariant primes in these algebras are generated by quantum minors. Since then this algorithm has been used in various contexts. In particular, the matrix version makes a bridge between torus-invariant primes in generic quantum matrices, torus-orbits of symplectic leaves in matrix Poisson varieties and totally nonnegative cells in totally nonnegative matrix varieties [12]. This led to recent progress in the study of totally nonnegative matrices such as new recognition tests, see for instance [18]. The aim of this article is to develop a Poisson version of the deleting derivations algorithm to study the members of a class P of polynomial Poisson algebras. It has recently been shown that the Poisson Dixmier-Moeglin equivalence does not hold for all polynomial Poisson algebras [2]. Our algorithm allows us to prove this equivalence for a significant class of Poisson algebras, when the base field is of characteristic zero. Finally, using our deleting derivations algorithm, we compare topologically spectra of quantum matrices with Poisson spectra of matrix Poisson varieties.

Poisson algebras via model theory and differential-algebraic geometry

Brown and Gordon asked whether the Poisson Dixmier-Moeglin equivalence holds for any complex affine Poisson algebra; that is, whether the sets of Poisson rational ideals, Poisson primitive ideals, and Poisson locally closed ideals coincide. In this article a complete answer is given to this question using techniques from differential-algebraic geometry and model theory. In particular, it is shown that while the sets of Poisson rational and Poisson primitive ideals do coincide, in every Krull dimension at least four there are complex affine Poisson algebras with Poisson rational ideals that are not Poisson locally closed. These counterexamples also give rise to counterexamples to the classical (noncommutative) Dixmier-Moeglin equivalence in finite $\operatorname{GK}$ dimension. A weaker version of the Poisson Dixmier-Moeglin equivalence is proven for all complex affine Poisson algebras, from which it follows that the full equivalence holds in Krull dimension three or less. Finally, it is shown that everything, except possibly that rationality implies primitivity, can be done over an arbitrary base field of characteristic zero.

Graded quantum cluster algebras and an application to quantum Grassmannians

We introduce a framework for $\mathbb{Z}$-gradings on cluster algebras (and their quantum analogues) that are compatible with mutation. To do this, one chooses the degrees of the (quantum) cluster variables in an initial seed subject to a compatibility with the initial exchange matrix, and then one extends this to all cluster variables by mutation. The resulting grading has the property that every (quantum) cluster variable is homogeneous. In the quantum setting, we use this grading framework to give a construction that behaves somewhat like twisting, in that it produces a new quantum cluster algebra with the same cluster combinatorics but with different quasi-commutation relations between the cluster variables. We apply these results to show that the quantum Grassmannians admit quantum cluster algebra structures, as quantizations of the cluster algebra structures on the classical Grassmannian coordinate ring found by Scott. This is done by lifting the quantum cluster algebra structure on quantum matrices due to Geiß, Leclerc and Schröer and completes earlier work of the authors on the finite-type cases.

Enumeration of $\C{H}$-strata in quantum matrices with respect to dimension

We present a combinatorial method to determine the dimension of $\C{H}$-strata in the algebra of $m\times n$ quantum matrices $\Oq$ as follows. To a given $\C{H}$-stratum we associate a certain permutation via the notion of pipe-dreams. We show that the dimension of the $\C{H}$-stratum is precisely the number of odd cycles in this permutation. Using this result, we are able to give closed formulas for the trivariate generating function that counts the $d$-dimensional $\C{H}$-strata in $\Oq$. Finally, we extract the coefficients of this generating function in order to settle conjectures proposed by the first and third named authors \cite{bldim,bll} regarding the asymptotic proportion of $d$-dimensional $\C{H}$-strata in $\Oq$.

Primitive ideals in quantum Schubert cells: dimension of the strata

The aim of this paper is to study the representation theory of quantum Schubert cells. Let $\g$ be a simple complex Lie algebra. To each element $w$ of the Weyl group $W$ of $\g$, De Concini, Kac and Procesi have attached a subalgebra $U_q[w]$ of the quantised enveloping algebra $U_q(\g)$. Recently, Yakimov showed that these algebras can be interpreted as the quantum Schubert cells on quantum flag manifolds. In this paper, we study the primitive ideals of $U_q[w]$. More precisely, it follows from the Stratification Theorem of Goodearl and Letzter that the primitive spectrum of $U_q[w]$ admits a stratification indexed by those primes that are invariant under a natural torus action. Moreover each stratum is homeomorphic to the spectrum of maximal ideals of a torus. The main result of this paper gives an explicit formula for the dimension of the stratum associated to a given torus-invariant prime.
