Invariants and coinvariants of semilocal units modulo elliptic units

Let p be a prime number, and let k be an imaginary quadratic field in which p decomposes into two primes \mathfrak{p} and \bar{\mathfrak{p}}. Let k_\infty be the unique Z_p-extension of k which is unramified outside of \mathfrak{p}, and let K_\infty be a finite extension of k_\infty, abelian over k. Let U_\infty/C_\infty be the projective limit of principal semi-local units modulo elliptic units. We prove that the various modules of invariants and coinvariants of U_\infty/C_\infty are finite.

On the classical main conjecture for imaginary quadratic fields

Let p be a prime number which is split in an imaginary quadratic field k. Let \mathfrak{p} be a place of k above p. Let k_\infty be the unique Z_p-extension of k which unramified outside of \mathfrak{p}, and let K_\intfy be a finite extension of k_\infty, abelian over k. In case p \notin {2,3}, we prove that the characteristic ideal of the projective limit of global units modulo elliptic units coincides with the characteristic ideal of the projective limit of the p-class groups. Our approach uses Euler systems, which were first used in this context by K.Rubin. If p \in {2,3}, we obtain a divisibility relation, up to a certain constant.

Index-modules and applications

We define the notion of index-module for a couple of A-lattices in a vector space, A being a Dedekind ring. We apply this notion to prove by elementary means that a weak Gras conjecture (i.e for irreducible nontrivial Q-characters) holds for a suitable group of Stark units in global function fields.

Global Units Modulo Elliptic Units and 2-Ideal Class Groups

Let p\in\{2,3\}, and let k be an imaginary quadratic field in which p decomposes into two distinct primes \mathfrak{p} and \bar{\mathfrak{p}}. Let k_\infty be the unique Z_p-extension of k which is unramified outside of \mathfrak{p}, and let K_\infty be a finite extension of k_\infty, abelian over k. We prove that in K_\infty, the projective limit of the p-class group and the projective limit of units modulo elliptic units share the same μ-invariant and the same λ-invariant. Then we prove that up to a constant, the characteristic ideal of the projective limit of the p-class group coincides with the characteristic ideal of the projective limit of units modulo elliptic units.

On Gras conjecture for imaginary quadratic fields

In this paper we extend methods of Rubin to prove the Gras conjecture for abelian extensions of a given imaginary quadratic field k and prime numbers p which divide the number of roots of unity in k.

The Gras conjecture in function fields by Euler systems

We use Euler systems to prove the Gras conjecture for groups generated by Stark units in global function fields. The techniques applied here are classical and go back to Thaine, Kolyvagin and Rubin. We obtain our Euler systems from the torsion points of sign-normalized Drinfel'd modules.
