Asymptotic models for free boundary flow in porous media

We provide rigorous asymptotic models for the free boundary Darcy and Forchheimer problem under the assumption of weak nonlinear interaction, in a regime in which the steepness parameter of the interface is considered to be very small. The models we derive capture the nonlinear interaction of the original free boundary Darcy and Forchheimer problem up to quadratic terms. Furthermore, we provide models that consider both the two-dimensional and three-dimensional cases, with and without bottom topography.

A global well-posedness result for the Rosensweig system of ferrofluids

In this Paper we study a Bloch-Torrey regularization of the Rosensweig system for ferrofluids. The scope of this paper is twofold. First of all, we investigate the existence and uniqueness of solutions à la Leray of this model in the whole bidimensional space. Interesting enough, the well-posedness relies on a variation of the Aubin-Lions lemma for fractional time derivatives. In the second part of this paper we investigate both the long- time behavior of weak solutions and the propagation of Sobolev regularities in dimension two

On the influence of gravity on density-dependent incompressible periodic fluids

The present work is devoted to the analysis of density-dependent, incompressible fluids in a 3D torus, when the Froude number $\varepsilon$ goes to zero. We consider the very general case where the initial data do not have a zero horizontal average, where we only have smoothing effect on the velocity but not on the density and where we can have resonant phenomena on the domain. We explicitly determine the limit system when $\varepsilon \to 0$ and prove its global wellposedness. Finally, we prove that for large initial data, the density-dependent, incompressible fluid system is globally wellposed, provided that $\varepsilon$ is small enough.

Global existence and convergence for non-dimensionalized incompressible Navier-Stokes equations in low Froude number regime

We prove that the incompressible, density dependent, Navier-Stokes equations are globally well posed in a low Froude number regime. The density is supposed to be increasing in depth and linearized around a stable state. Moreover if the Froude number tends to zero we prove that such system converges (strongly) to a two-dimensional, stratified Navier-Stokes system with full diffusivity. No smallness assumption is made on the initial data.

Dispersive effects of weakly compressible and fast rotating inviscid fluids

We consider a system describing the motion of an isentropic, inviscid, weakly com-pressible, fast rotating fluid in the whole space R^3 , with initial data belonging to H^s(R^3) , s \textgreater{} 5/2. We prove that the system admits a unique local strong solution in L^$\infty$([0, T ]; H^s(R^3)) , where T is independent of the Rossby and Mach numbers. Moreover, using Strichartz-type estimates, we prove that the solution is almost global, i.e. its lifespan is of the order of $ε$^(--$α$) , $α$ \textgreater{} 0, without any smallness assumption on the initial data (the initial data can even go to infinity in some sense), provided that the rotation is fast enough.

Derivation of limit equation for a perturbed 3D periodic Boussinesq system

We consider a system describing the long-time dynamics of an hydrodynamical, density-dependent flow under the effects of gravitational forces. We prove that if the Froude number is sufficiently small such system is globally well posed with respect to a $ H^s, \ s>1/2 $ Sobolev regularity. Moreover if the Froude number converges to zero we prove that the solutions of the aforementioned system converge (strongly) to a stratified three-dimensional Navier-Stokes system. No smallness assumption is assumed on the initial data.

Highly rotating fluids with vertical stratification for periodic data and vanishing vertical viscosity

We prove that the primitive equations without vertical diffusivity are globally well-posed (if the Rossby and Froude number are sufficiently small) in suitable Sobolev anisotropic spaces. Moreover if the Rossby and Froude number tend to zero at a comparable rate the global solutions of the primitive equations converge globally to the global solutions of a suitable limit system. The space domain considered has to belong to a class of tori which is general enough to include all non-resonant tori and many resonant tori as well.

A hyperbolic problem with non-local constraint describing ion-rearrangement in a model for ion-lithium batteries

In this paper we study the Fokker-Plank equation arising in a model which describes the charge and discharge process of ion-lithium batteries. In particular we focus our attention on slow reaction regimes with non-negligible entropic effects, which triggers the mass-splitting transition. At first we prove that the problem is globally well-posed. After that we prove a stability result under some hypothesis of improved regularity and a uniqueness result for the stability under some additional condition of
