The Higgs Portal and Cosmology

Higgs portal interactions provide a simple mechanism for addressing two open problems in cosmology: dark matter and the baryon asymmetry. In the latter instance, Higgs portal interactions may contain the ingredients for a strong first order electroweak phase transition as well as new CP-violating interactions as needed for electroweak baryogenesis. These interactions may also allow for a viable dark matter candidate. We survey the opportunities for probing the Higgs portal as it relates to these questions in cosmology at the LHC and possible future colliders.

Warped Extra Dimensional Benchmarks for Snowmass 2013

The framework of a warped extra dimension with the Standard Model (SM) fields propagating in it is a very well-motivated extension of the SM since it can address both the Planck-weak and flavor hierarchy problems of the SM. We consider signals at the 14 and 33 TeV large hadron collider (LHC) resulting from the direct production of the new particles in this framework, i.e.,Kaluza-Klein (KK) excitations of the SM particles. We focus on spin-1 (gauge boson) and spin-2 (graviton) KK particles and their decays to top/bottom quarks (flavor-conserving) and W/Z and Higgs bosons, in particular. We propose two benchmarks for this purpose, with the right-handed (RH) or LH top quark, respectively, being localized very close to the TeV end of the extra dimension. We present some new results at the 14 TeV (with 300 fb$^-1$ and 3000 fb$^-1$) and 33 TeV LHC. We find that the prospects for discovery of these particles are quite promising, especially at the high-luminosity upgrade.

Beyond the Standard Model Searches at the LHC

This report presents recent results from studies of Beyond the Standard Model physics at the LHC. A focus is placed on heavy gauge bosons, electroweak symmetry breaking and left-right symmetry.

B0s Oscillation Results

We review new studies of the time dependence of B0s - B0s-bar mixing by the ALEPH, DELPHI and SLD Collaborations, with an emphasis on the different analysis methods used. Combining all available results yields a preliminary lower limit on the oscillation frequency of dms > 14.4 ps-1 at the 95% C.L.

Rare Hadronic and Radiative Penguin B Decays at BaBar

We report recent results in the study of rare hadronic and radiative penguin decays of B mesons. These results are based on a sample of 23 million B B-bar pairs collected by the BaBar Collaboration at the SLAC PEP-II e+e- B Factory.

Highlights of the SLD Physics Program at the SLAC Linear Collider

Starting in 1989, and continuing through the 1990s, high-energy physics witnessed a flowering of precision measurements in general and tests of the standard model in particular, led by e+e- collider experiments operating at the Z0 resonance. Key contributions to this work came from the SLD collaboration at the SLAC Linear Collider. By exploiting the unique capabilities of this pioneering accelerator and the SLD detector, including a polarized electron beam, exceptionally small beam dimensions, and a CCD pixel vertex detector, SLD produced a broad array of electroweak, heavy-flavor, and QCD measurements. Many of these results are one of a kind or represent the world's standard in precision. This article reviews the highlights of the SLD physics program, with an eye toward associated advances in experimental technique, and the contribution of these measurements to our dramatically improved present understanding of the standard model and its possible extensions.

B Physics at the Z0 Resonance

B physics results from e+ e- annihilation at the Z0 resonance are reviewed. A vast program is summarised, including the study of B+, B0d, B0s and b baryon lifetimes, the time dependence of B0d and B0s oscillations, the width difference in the B0s system, and the measurements of the magnitudes of the CKM matrix elements Vcb and Vub.

A Review of Bs Mixing: Past, Present and Future

We review the experimental status of Bs mixing. After a brief historical overview, current studies of the time dependence of Bs oscillations are described, with an emphasis on the different experimental techniques used by the ALEPH, CDF, DELPHI, OPAL, and SLD Collaborations. To conclude, the outlook for future experiments is presented.

B Physics at SLD: B+ and B0 Lifetimes, Bs Mixing, and Search for b --> sg Decays

We report new preliminary B Physics results obtained with 300,000 hadronic Z0 decays collected by the SLD experiment at the SLC between 1993 and 1997. Three analyses are presented: a measurement of B+ and B0 lifetimes, a study of the time dependence of Bs - Bs-bar mixing, and a search for decays of the type b --> sg. All analyses benefit from the small and stable interaction point and the excellent resolution and efficiency provided by the pixel-based CCD Vertex Detector. The b --> sg analysis also exploits the particle identification capabilities of the Cherenkov Ring Imaging Detector.

Electroweak and Heavy Flavor Physics at SLD

We review recent electroweak and B physics results obtained in polarized e+e- interactions at the SLC by the SLD experiment. Unique and precise measurements of the electroweak parameters Ae, Ab, Ac, Rb and Rc provide powerful constraints on the Standard Model. The excellent 3-D vertexing capabilities of SLD are further exploited to extract precise B+ and B0 lifetimes, as well as measurements of the time evolution of B0-B0-bar mixing.
