Wave fronts via Fourier series coefficients

Motivated by the product of periodic distributions, we give a new description of the wave front and the Sobolev-type wave front of a distribution $f\in\mathscr{D}'(\mathbb{R}^d)$ in terms of Fourier series coefficients.

New distribution spaces associated to translation-invariant Banach spaces

We introduce and study new distribution spaces, the test function space $\mathcal{D}_E$ and its strong dual $\mathcal{D}'_{E'_{\ast}}$. These spaces generalize the Schwartz spaces $\mathcal{D}_{L^{q}}$, $\mathcal{D}'_{L^{p}}$, $\mathcal{B}'$ and their weighted versions. The construction of our new distribution spaces is based on the analysis of a suitable translation-invariant Banach space of distributions $E$ with continuous translation group, which turns out to be a convolution module over a Beurling algebra $L^{1}_ω$. The Banach space $E'_{\ast}$ stands for $L_{\checkω}^1\ast E'$. We also study convolution and multiplicative products on $\mathcal{D}'_{E'_{\ast}}$.

Boundary values of holomorphic functions and heat kernel method in translation-invariant distribution spaces

We study boundary values of holomorphic functions in translation-invariant distribution spaces of type $\mathcal{D}'_{E'_{\ast}}$. New edge of the wedge theorems are obtained. The results are then applied to represent $\mathcal{D}'_{E'_{\ast}}$ as a quotient space of holomorphic functions. We also give representations of elements of $\mathcal{D}'_{E'_{\ast}}$ via the heat kernel method. Our results cover as particular instances the cases of boundary values, analytic representations, and heat kernel representations in the context of the Schwartz spaces $\mathcal{D}'_{L^{p}}$, $\mathcal{B}'$, and their weighted versions.

Semilinear pseudodifferential equations in spaces of tempered ultradistributions

We study a class of semilinear elliptic equations on spaces of tempered ultradistributions of Beurling and Roumieu type. Assuming that the linear part of the equation is an elliptic pseudodifferential operator of infinite order with a sub-exponential growth of its symbol and that the non linear part is given by an infinite sum of powers of $u$ with sub-exponential growth with respect to $u,$ we prove a regularity result in the functional setting of the quoted ultradistribution spaces for a weak Sobolev type solution $u$.

Space-time fractional Zener wave equation

Space-time fractional Zener wave equation, describing viscoelastic materials obeying the time-fractional Zener model and the space-fractional strain measure, is derived and analyzed. This model includes waves with finite speed, as well as non-propagating disturbances. The existence and the uniqueness of the solution to the generalized Cauchy problem are proved. Special cases are investigated and numerical examples are presented.

Local regularity in non-linear generalized functions

In this review article we present regularity properties of generalized functions which are useful in the analysis of non-linear problems. It is shown that Schwartz distributions embedded into our new spaces of generalized functions, with additional properties described through the association, belong to various classical spaces with finite or infinite type of regularities.

Multidimensional Tauberian theorems for vector-valued distributions

We prove several Tauberian theorems for regularizing transforms of vector-valued distributions. The regularizing transform of $f$ is given by the integral transform $M^{f}_φ(x,y)=(f\astφ_{y})(x),$ $(x,y)\in\mathbb{R}^{n}\times\mathbb{R}_{+}$, with kernel $φ_{y}(t)=y^{-n}φ(t/y)$. We apply our results to the analysis of asymptotic stability for a class of Cauchy problems, Tauberian theorems for the Laplace transform, the comparison of quasiasymptotics in distribution spaces, and we give a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of the trace of a distribution on $\left\{x_0\right\}\times \mathbb R^m$. In addition, we present a new proof of Littlewood's Tauberian theorem.

On a initial value problem arising in mechanics

We study initial value problem for a system consisting of an integer order and distributed-order fractional differential equation describing forced oscillations of a body attached to a free end of a light viscoelastic rod. Explicit form of a solution for a class of linear viscoelastic solids is given in terms of a convolution integral. Restrictions on storage and loss moduli following from the Second Law of Thermodynamics play the crucial role in establishing the form of the solution. Some previous results are shown to be special cases of the present analysis.

Weyl asymptotics for tensor products of operators and Dirichlet divisors

We study the counting function of the eigenvalues for tensor products of operators, and their perturbations, in the context of Shubin classes and closed manifolds. We emphasize connections with problems of analytic number theory, concerning in particular generalized Dirichlet divisor functions.

Construction of frames for shift-invariant spaces

We construct a sequence ${ϕ_i(\cdot-j)\mid j\in{\ZZ}, i=1,...,r}$ which constitutes a $p$-frame for the weighted shift-invariant space [V^p_μ(Φ)=\Big{\sum\limits_{i=1}^r\sum\limits_{j\in{\mathbb{Z}}}c_i(j)ϕ_i(\cdot-j) \Big| {c_i(j)}_{j\in{\mathbb{Z}}}\in\ell^p_μ, i=1,...,r\Big}, p\in[1,\infty],] and generates a closed shift-invariant subspace of $L^p_μ(\mathbb{R})$. The first construction is obtained by choosing functions $ϕ_i$, $i=1,...,r$, with compactly supported Fourier transforms $\hatϕ_i$, $i=1,...,r$. The second construction, with compactly supported $ϕ_i,i=1,...,r,$ gives the Riesz basis.

Forced oscillations of a body attached to a viscoelastic rod of fractional derivative type

We study forced oscillations of a rod with a body attached to its free end so that the motion of a system is described by two sets of equations, one of integer and the other of the fractional order. To the constitutive equation we associate a single function of complex variable that plays a key role in finding the solution of the system and in determining its properties. This function could be defined for a linear viscoelastic bodies of integer/fractional derivative type.

On a system of equations arising in viscoelasticity theory of fractional type

We study a system of partial differential equations with integer and fractional derivatives arising in the study of forced oscillatory motion of a viscoelastic rod. We propose a new approach considering a quotient of relations appearing in the constitutive equation instead the constitutive equation itself. Both, a rod and a body are assumed to have finite mass. The motion of a body is assumed to be translatory. Existence and uniqueness for the corresponding initial-boundary value problem is proved within the spaces of functions and distributions.
